About "mitka" - yes, its a "mark". The guy near the trenches says that "when you start to drive towards frontline, you will see "veshkas" ("вешка" is a special waypoint mark, usually a piece of cloth on a stick), first veshkas will be blue-yellow, then red-white, and then white (white ones is closest to frontline)
I was thinking the ZSU soldier was a speaking about a GPS mark or flag (prapore / прапоре). But he also said white (bile / біле). Any source about the вешка?
@@jakubvo5293, 11:30 soldier on the ground said to watch for вешки: weaving srtipes on the sticks - marks on the route. First stripes will be blue&yellow, then red&white and finally white. So later turret gunner said that they need white marks (small flags/stripes).
Not clear what he wants to say there at "mark", sounds like he wants to put a white mark on the ground, but taking into context the previous conversations they are probably looking for a white mark.
Part 2 coming tomorrow, 4/5ths of it taking place in the treeline they’re dropped off in. Working on part 3 tonight and tomorrow, and hopefully have cognac’s part 4 and 5 up this weekend. I‘ve got a fever at the moment so as soon as I’m done training Ukrainians I get as much done as I can and then get some sleep. Thanks for everything. All who’ve donated, all who are watching and every member of the channel. You genuinely positively change the lives of me and my friends. Thank you thank you thank you ❤️
@CivDIv I believe, the tired guy on ground was telling the other that the friendlies up to a white mark ("mitka"), the red after was indication the beginning of the hot zone. I would tell you that in person but Oleksii rejected my application. ;)
Feel your pain, I too have a fever. Thought Covid wasn't a thing anymore. Looks like its still alive and kicking. Keep publishing this content. You're crushing it.
Regardless of how exciting or boring your videos are, I believe I speak for everyone when saying we’re so grateful for you not only fighting, but documenting all of this
I like how this is not footage where people are celebrating death with music, but rather a calm and collected overview of what is happening where you can also hear and read what is happening. May opsec and life be with you all! 🙏

I really appreciate you taking the time to edit and add information to these videos. It's a lot of work to edit videos like this even if you've done it many times! You are one of the heros Civ Div by keeping everyone informed what it's like in Ukraine's war for freedom. God bless you and your teams, brother!!
@@gettingfactsoutthere In democratic countries we use the term "loyal opposition", meaning that EVERYONE is loyal to the country and a patriot. I think what you are implying is letting TRAITORS have a voice in the political process, traitors who only want to destroy and dismantle the country. This would never be allowed in any democracy.
Greatly appreciate these moderate length clips (versus short battle shots or really long documentary length clips). They give a much more complete perspective of the insane mix of tedium and terror that makes up war. Victory and peace for Ukraine!
Ukraine is beautiful. As always thanks for the upload, its actually nice that theyre broken up dont always have the time for the long format videos and end up skipping through. These are perfect
Some of you city slickers need to touch grass. This is a scene out of any country with farmland. Yes, it's beautiful. That's why people choose to be homesteaders.

Thank you and your friends for showing us the reality of live over there. You are strong and brave and wish you all the best. And you, you could have stayed home after your health problems but chose to go back and help in a different way. Huge respect! Greetings from The Netherlands. Stay safe!
Just got the notification, been watching every single video and keeping up with Ukraine. You're doing gods work, never stop uploading. You're broadcasting the horrors and technicalities of war to a global audience, much love civ div
I love you show the whole picture, not just the "exciting" cuts. Sometime just watching the video's with headphones gets my heartrate up. Simply of getting a glimps of the tension that comes with just clearing regular houses under the fog of war and distant hits of shells. Fascinating and sad for yet another armed conflict.
Very surreal seeing just how beautiful the country is as these men are driving along, knowing that any moment a firefight can break out. Reminds me just how lucky we are here in Canada that my fiance and I can just pull off the road and have a walk or picnic without worrying about landmines or occupiers. Thank you so much for sharing all of the videos on your channel, its so important that the world stays informed, even if it isnt always pretty. Glory to all the heros, domestic or foreign, history will remember them kindly.
These are the highlights of my day. Well subtitled videos where we're told what's happening where, with who etc etc. Fascinating. Please do keep these coming.
At 13:40 the Ukrainian soldier is saying «білий прапорець, мітка» which would translate to “white flag, mark”. He was referring to the ribbons that the sapper told them about. He said they were first blue and yellow then white and red. I couldn’t make out more context for those marks sadly.
You are right. 11:30 soldier on the ground said to look for вешки: weaving srtipes on the sticks - marks on the route. First stripes will be blue&yellow, then red&white and finally white. So later turret gunner said that they need white marks (small flags/stripes).
Presumably the markers are showing where they had already cleared of mines, or alternatively where they hadn't....perhaps that's why the different colored markers?
@@sevenhelmets I think it's just for orientation, to beat some of the fog of war and not drive in the wrong direction. Sort of like the five-letter virtual landmarks that aviation uses to plot courses in cooperation between pilots and air traffic controllers. For example, LA International final approach from the East is via FLYES.
Civ Div is the only channel i watch that uploads the non action stuff because he gives context to the situation so well and really gives you a feel for what's its like to be over there.
@@finncatwillhelm2457 It's the same battle from 2 different people working together. If he ran too many videos ahead with 1 perspective you'd lose the context of the 2nd perspective. Seems he's doing 3 videos of each taking turns.
That Ukrainian flag always sitting on the horizon must give things some amplification. The yellow of the wheat and sunflowers and the.clear blue sky … it’s just the perfect flag.
Nowadays, rapeseeds are also very popular, and their give very deep bright yellow color. I believe you actually see some rapeseed patches here and there in this video.
Regarding the “marks”. The guy on 11:30 gives the driver (?) instructions on how to follow the route. First he asked them if they are going to the left. And then he started describing pairs of colored marks (blue-yellow, red-white, etc.). It’s partly inaudible in that part of the video, but it seems that those marks were pre-planted by somebody as the guy says “look for the marks on the sticks”. He uses a pretty rare and old word (“veshki”) to describe those sticks, which is basically a generic name for a “milestone”. He says those wooden sticks have pieces of colored cloth on them
When they were talking about the white mark at 13:45 they were looking for a small white flag. Apparently, it was one of the marks of different colors they were discussing at 11:30, I guess used as guidance markers
Where your videos are far better than most others, is that you give great context to what we are watching. Not just another shoot-and-scoot vid. You and all your comrades are doing really great work over there. Stay safe.
Regarding the `mitka` ("мітка"). During the stop, they met sappers who explained the way ahead. They said they should orient themselves by the pegs - sticks with ribbons on them, which indicate a safe, mine-free path. According to the sappers, the ribbons were initially yellow-blue, then red-white, and eventually just white. So, at that 'mitka-moment' they were looking for such marks trying to understand where to move at.
I appreciate breaking up the footage like you do. Life isn't a movie, we can't just cut to the good stuff. It's important to see the leadup and what these soldiers went through moment by moment.
If I had to chose, I would always have Arnie at my back. He is calm but always on the lookout, which is just what you need. You could tell he was getting a little frustrated with all the waiting around. Sorry to hear he got wounded again and hope he makes a quick recovery. Slava Ukraini
What people who haven't experienced it is the tension alone can be enough to get that adrenaline going. There's a time where you become laser focused and hyper aware of everything happening around you. A movement to a position like that alone can be tiring mentally. It's like a slow crescendo.
Listen bro. You don't have to explain to us why. Screw the haters. Get money. Your doing it right, whilst also doing the right thing. Stay doing you brother. Much love from Florida, USA.
Thanks 1000x over for getting these videos out, love the uncut stuff and just seeing the guys working the job. I'm sitting here with a fair bit of situational awareness so even these are pretty intense. 👍🏻
I don't mind at all that it's not all kinetic moments. I want to see more about what it's like to head into these things. Thanks for posting these videos. And massive kudos to whoever is responsible for that modern take on a classic flag! "Three months later the pirates were off the coast of Brazil flying as a flag the Old Roger which was ornamented by an anatomy with an hourglass in one hand, and a dart in the heart with three drops of blood proceeding from it in the other." - proceedings of the trial of Captain John Quelch at Boston, 1702 Anatomy -> skeleton. Substituting an assault rifle for the hourglass (ammo runs out for everyone eventually) was brilliant. "Old Roger" was a nickname for the Devil, predating the commonly used Jolly Roger.
Man every time the vehicles stop in the open you can feel the stress levels rise. Fascinating vid. Like the comments providing context. Looking forward to more.
This is so surreal. This beautiful landscape and the horror right in it. Watching this video I sometimes think, that that ukraine had been a great place for a nice and cheap vacation and then the orks come...

Dude, I'm loving the videos of Arnie that have been posted. I feel like I know the guy at this point. Love all of the videos that you post. Much appreciated!
I like to watch these videos and even show them to others because It's a fully accurate projection of what the war is actually like. You don't find that in many other places.
This is the best channel for what it is actually like to be in combat in Ukraine, you don't need to explain why there isn't more action or longer videos. You're actually over there which is why this material is so real and important.
It's really challenging heading to the front without a drone surveillance ahead of you; that's why it's so intense watching the video as it unfolds. Great video indeed. Thank you Guys for helping Ukraine on this time of conflict. You are the heroes. 💪💪💪 Slava Ukraine... Watching from the Philippines
13:34 That's right. Because wars are not won from the cockpit of the chopper. Also because there are ALWAYS those who survive "taking the position with an artillery".
I get so nervous watching them standing still, i really appreciate these videos showcasing the uncertainty of war and the real situations that lead up to the action and brutality of war, thank you civdiv, Slava Ukraine
I love the whole picture in videos like this. I like to see how things really are and sort of experience it from the sideline. So please, keep making them as you do, they're great.
CivDiv does an excellent job of both being a soldier fighting for good and explaining the mindset and process of fighting this war. Thanks warrior, and kick some ruski arse!
These videos aren't the most exciting. But for old Soldiers these videos are easily the most relatable, and honestly for me dude the more impactful. Understanding the adrenaline and terror of being in the middle of hot shit is not that difficult to relate to. But the intense foreboding anxiousness and anticipation and nerves that comes before and in between the fights is what those who've been through it or similar often times think about. Thanks brother, stay safe.
I dig that they roll with Queen Anne's Revenge colors flying, Here is two Edward “Blackbeard” Teach. Quote I dedicated to the Orks. “Damnation seize my soul if I give your quarters, or take any from you.” “Damn you villains, who are you? And from whence came you?”

These go pro vids you post are so real, I get flashbacks of going up Highway 1 in Nam more than 50 years ago. Keep showing what war is really like Dude. Kudos
Nicely explained!! I'm guessing, common sense says if they are having a bad day, not in a good mood (like happens with every living thing) that you give them space, leave them be until signs have improved! Thanks for the great and informative videos and for all you do every day for the animals!! 🙏❤️
I was just thinking how surreal it was at the start. Just a beautiful day. I can see the exact colors of the Ukrainian flag with the yellow flowers and blue sky. Very picturesque. GD Russians spoiling it all...
I love the real rawness and no bs in your videos mate letting the footage run as it is in my humble opinion is the way it should be. The footage you are sharing is history in the making. An archive of war better than any documentary. This is real life war footage of whats really going on that we would never see if it wasnt for your many soldier brothers sharing this stuff. Thank you.
I totally agree that Ukraine needs F-16 fighter aircraft yesterday!! When the driver stopped to talk with the guy near tranches at the first time. He said to driver (or turret gunner) about turn indicators or something like this. And when turret gunner and Arnie had a small talk about "mark" he was looking for white flag to drive there the vehicle.
