In a rare, exclusive interview, Ridley Scott gives a glimpse into his leap to digital acquisition and how RED has changed the way he shoots his movies. Once a self-proclaimed "film man," Ridley discovered that he could acquire images that met a sharpness and clarity he had always sought when he chose RED cameras to shoot his latest feature, Prometheus. Since wrapping Prometheus, Ridley Scott has served as a producer on Loom -- a short film directed by Luke Scott and shot on RED EPIC -- which premiered at NAB 2012 at the RED booth.

is that a slab of meat on the table?....one of the greatest visionary directors of all time, and the backdrop of the interview is a marijuana grow up and a slab of meat on the table! LOOOL WICKED!!

It's not marijuana, it's part of the plants used in Loom. He has said it too many times, he hates drugs, he hates the lost of control. And "knowing" how he works, that's utterly truth.

3D was a fad that came and went. It was a massive dud.

I was working on stereography projects back then and yet I kept telling people it was just a fad and it was going to go away soon - I knew that because I did know that was the third time the cinema industry had tried to sell 3D. They first did it in the 1950s as part of their retaliation against TV and in a few years it was gone. They did it again in the 1980s and it lasted even less. So it was pretty inevitable for the same thing to happen again in the 2010s. The only difference was that this time around they had Active3D TVs to sell and i must say that, having tested a few, it was a much more immersive experience than what you can get in a theater because the technology was different (even the new Avatar movie uses polarized glasses - Active3D used electronic glasses that flicked at the same fequency as the screen, which made everything more fluid). But people didn't buy those and 3D more or less died again.
