And just when we’re starting to look for our daughters first skates. Perfect timing. She’s finishing up on her first leasons, Learn to Skate snowplow Sam 1 and when I spoke to her coaches yesterday they were praising how well she is and lack of fear. Just wish I was back in Bergen County so the drive to Polar Skate wasn’t as far.
I finally got on the ice for the first time and I loved it so much ,I really want to figure skate but I'm under weight and have low blood pressure so I really need to work on my nutrition
What was your reasoning from switching from the Reidell Silvers to the Edea Ice Flys? I’m considering getting Riedell (either the bronze or silver) & I’m curious to hear your opinion in comparison to Edea.

I suffered from a trimalleolar fracture with dislocation of my right ankle. Due to the hardware in my ankle my range of motion is restricted. So, I needed a boot with more freedom of movement in the tongue that also offered lateral stability. Ice Fly fit the bill. I’ve since moved on to the Edea Piano and now prefer the Concerto. I actually just ordered my second pair of Concertos after 2 years in them.
Im considering getting riedell vega because i have duck feet: wide toes. Narrower heels. I hope the vega boots address my needs, but I’m worried it might be less supportive and less firm than the Jackson Elite boots that also cone in 75 stiffness…

Unfortunately, you cannot compare support ratings between different brands. The best thing to do is to go for a fitting at a trusted shop to try them on and discuss the options with your professional tech.
I have a question I am a size 8.5 The problem is we don’t have a pro shop near us. And I live in Indiana. I just want to learn basic jumps and basic skating and spins. Is Helios stronger than PVC? And also How do I know I have the right size?

In fact, the exclusive US importer for Edea - Skates US - is located in Indiana! You can use Riedell's dealer locator here: www.ice.riedellskates.com/dealerlocator/ I wear a size 9 in Brooks Running shoes. But, in Riedell, I'm a 6.5 Narrow. So, your regular shoe size may not be correct for Riedell! They have a size guide here:www.ice.riedellskates.com/fitting. Helios is 30% lighter than PVC but I cannot tell you if it's a stronger material.
I have a couple of questions I am currently looking for a trainer and it’s been kind of hard but my point is should the ice skate be tight it’s my 5th time skating without anyone and I know how to run in an incredible speed and I know how to do spins but the rented skates are so heavy and I couldn’t do cross overs so does the brand Jackson good for my level and should the skates be light for beginners and my other question how does the leggings/pants that are sold effect ice skating and I see some figure skating put the edges of the pants/leggings on the skate and how does that effect anything and should the outfit be tight and not baggy?

It's more critical for you to learn proper technique. We don't "run" in skates. Spins and crossovers come much later as you need to learn your edges before you can do either of those elements. I suggest that you look into the group learn to skate program at your local rink. Ask the skating director where you to go to purchase your first pair of skates. Some skaters prefer to wear the pants that are long enough to come down over the boot - that is for warmth! Clothes for skating should be fitted so that your coach can see your lines.
How would you compare the new Riedell Topaz to it's nearest(in price) competitors from Jackson, the Mystique and Artiste? Do they seem to be a similar fit? The Riedell rating for the men's version seems to be a moderate 35-60, so I am a bit curious if the three models are of similar stiffness. I haven't had the chance to get my first skates yet, and the Topaz seems like it could be an option given the new, wider toe box. I am hoping to find more time to get on the ice and get comfortable, and since I have to travel a few hours to a rink, I definitely would like to own my own skates to make the best use of the limited time I have.

As I said in the video, you can't compare the support ratings across brands. The only way to make an informed decision is to try them on when you get fitted by a recommended professional tech.
