I absolutely loathed Gumby in this movie, I didn't remember him always being a prick to his friends, but then again, it's been a long time since I've watched the show!
Haha it's funny if you watch that hanging out with Rifftrax they just did on here, where they dissect this movie, if they are replicants from the moon, why pokey is such a prick, and all the other bizarro shit
I remember seeing it when it came out on VHS. I watched Gumby all the time as a kid, and was psyched to find there was a movie, but...it does feel pretty different in that way. Kid-me wasn't a fan of the film, but looking back on it now, I appreciate it more...in part because of just how freaking strange it is.
As a little kid (very little), I enjoyed the Gumby shorts. As an adult, I saw the MST3K sendoff of "Robot Rumpus", and loved every second of it (especially their confusion at the part that always confused me as a child: why the heck are crackers considered such a special reward?). Now, as an older adult, I watched this bit, laughed, and felt a little confused. I clicked the RiffTrax link, watched the preview there, and read the description... WTF?? LOL! Added to my Wishlist, even though I'm still like "I totally wouldn't believe this is a real description of anything involving Gumby, but it's 2021, so I'm pretty sure any stupid thing is possible now!" ;-)
I really want this Rifftrax, but I also really want Baby Ghost and Suburban Sasquatch. So many decisions. I'm glad I got the Rifftrax Friends subscription so I at least got to view all the older content, INCLUDING the shorts,
This *feature film* from 1995 has stop-motion animation that's only slightly better than what I was doing around the same time as a 13-year-old with access to Premier 4.
I still have toys of Gumby, Pokey, Prickle, Goo, and Gumby’s Sister. Some of them have broken over the years. Me: Cheap pieces of cra- Gumby: “Ahem!” (I turn around and see Gumby holding the lightsaber. Waiting for me to finish my insult on the toys.) Me: -crumbles of joy! Heh heh! Gumby: Good. (Gumby turns off his lightsaber)
