I can't believe that Woody Allen is almost 90. The film industry's lights will go out when he passes. I collect his movies. There is NOBODY out there that writes, directs or produces like Allen does. Not one.
He's a master of a classic form of American cinema that will be extinct when he dies. However I will say Rifkin's festival was a chore to watch. Wallace Shawn is not pleasant enough to be the lead of a film.
@@AngelofMusic04 In my case, because I'm on a fixed income. I'm also not yet ready to attend public events again. But I agree that there's nothing like seeing films on big theater screens and homemade popcorn doesn't compare to the incredibly unhealthy but delicious movie popcorn.
If we saw dislikes, we'd see this crap is probably at -10,000 right now. Children come before art, and decent people know this. And even if you don't believe the abuse allegations, what kind of person marries the little kid he's been taking care of as a FATHER as soon as she turns of legal age? Oh yeah, I'm sure no abuse was happening there, either...
I may listen to Michael Jackson because he's dead and he can't profit from me anymore. But I refuse to watch Woody Allen, listen to R Kelly, etc. I rather give my time and money to those that are not rapists.
You overestimate things. The majority of the world doesn't care about Woody Allen or Mia Farrow's dilemmas or problems, given the miniseries barely made a dent except to the people who were already sold. Hell, the majority didn't even care about his movies even before this ended up in the news again unless they had Oscar potential. Take a look at his entire filmography compared to, say, the films of Bryan Singer (you know, Bryan Singer with decades worth of abuse allegations that didn't seem to bother people when they gave his Freddie Mercury movie a billion dollars and every Oscar under the sun) and say that the general public cares enough to spam a trailer for a mid tier film. This isn't "Ghostbusters". Oh, and that's without going into how Farrow herself testified in court during the custody hearings and Soon-Yi reiterated in multiple interviews that Allen had no involvement in parenting Soon-Yi (which makes sense since her last name is Previn and not Farrow/Allen) and that he had no involvement with any of the children that weren't Dylan, Moses or Ronan. How they ended up together will raise eyebrows, but a thirty year relationship with two daughters that have never had a negative thing to say about their parents while, say, Mia Farrow has a string of failed relationships, two adopted Asian children that have levied pretty serious abuse allegations against her and three additional dead children says something else. Also, congratulations on being a hypocrite. Michael himself may not profit from the songs but the money's still going to someone in the Jackson family who arguably had no qualms about what Michael had done as long as they benefitted from it. Lot of pretzel twisting on your end to show your double standards.
@David : Not so strange if Shawn fits Allen's over-all view of the movie and the direction he wants to take it. Chalamet, it would appear, doesn't fit the bill for what Allen is looking for.
@@sfmike711 I realize that. Shawn is more of a Woody Allen type now that Woody is too old to star in his own films. But Chalamet ( _A Rainy Day in New York_ ) has more star quality and appeals to a younger (bigger) audience...none of which means I'm not going to watch _Rifkin's Festival_ .
@@DavidLS1 Chalamet was actually interviewed for the part, but Wallace got the nod for the role. Woody thought Shawn could play a 70 year old man and semi-cypher for himself a little more convincingly.
You shouldn't speak of yourself in such a light. Unless you've actually hurt kids, which you should turn yourself in for and get the psychiatric care you need.
