In response to a question from one of our viewers in this video I am demonstrating how and what correct rifle sling tension should be and look like in both sitting and the prone position. it is an outstanding question and the correct tension of the sling can and will ensure accurate shot placement. This is not only a great video for someone who is new to precision rifle shooting, it is also great for the more experienced shooters who is looking to improve their present position and scores. At the end of this video you will understand how to setup your sling for proper sling tension for service rifle.
Just a special note: I am on my way to Perry so this will be my last post until after Perry.. I wish all who are going the best in achieving your goals and hope to see you there.
NOTE: When ever handling firearms please handle your firearm in a safe manner. Although there are Manny different opinions about firearms safety rules, I would like to highlight the following.
Rules For Safe Gun Handling
ALWAYS-Keep the gun pointed in a safe direction
ALWAYS-Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until ready to shoot
ALWAYS-Keep the gun unloaded until ready to use

Good video. There’s nothing better than listening to someone “try” to verbalize what they’re experiencing while shooting. Everyone is different, but I think we all learn something when we have to talk about what happened right after we shoot. This is true for good shots, and even more important for poor shots. Sometimes I write notes. Not that I always go back and read them, but it forces me to analyze my technique. I wish more RU-vidrs would do this. It may seem a difficult, and quite humbling, to try to, with the camera rolling, find words to describe what you experience during a shot, but I think it would be helpful for any viewers who are trying to improve.

Great stuff lots of content here. Don’t know if you ever covered your shooting cart but interested to know if the PVC tube is for an umbrella? Looking to change up my cart just not sure what might be best.

High Ralph, I have not covered my cart, if interested I can. The PVC tube is for the top half of my scope stand. Now with E-targets and not having to spot your shots, it is much easier to see the streamer on the post since I am looking directly at it between shots also is easier to see in prone as well. I do like the umbrella idea, it's great when you're on the ready line.

When I invert my elbow in prone to get that bone support under the rifle I kind of roll to my left side what should I do

Good morning, If your support elbow is inverted to much it can cause your position to be over exaggerated and you will have a tendency to lay to heavily on your left causing an unstable position. Once in position I manipulate my left elbow to the exact position I want with my right hand then shoulder the rifle. Once I have my desired position I do not roll to the left ever again during the string this will cause your position to move. Notice in the sling tension video how I just shoulder and un-shoulder the rifle without rolling to the left. I lay relatively flat in my prone position, raising my right leg raises my abdomen off the deck and allows my to breath easier and keeps me more stable. Hope I answered your question. if you could share a picture I may be able to help more. Steve.
