Very well done. It is obvious there is a good bit of time invested in editing. Good contrast & comparison. 270 & 30/06 seem to have damaged quite well. Thank you.
@@BuckeyeBallistics Bless your heart. I can't watch all of them due to limited time on my part. If it interests me I watch it. I appreciate the content, info and endeavor. You have improved since I started watching your videos. A thank you isn't much in this realm but in these days it's what I have. Hopefully in the future I can be of more help.
I completely understand. I'm friends with a lot of small channels and try to watch like and comment on their videos, but there are too many for me to keep up with now (I made too many friends lol). I'm glad to hear I've improved...
I was so impressed that you used the orange sticky targets for your shots. Nothing bothers me more than the tuber channels that make bad shots and say…… Oops, my bad. This could separate you from the boys.
Pretty much what I expected. High velocity + high sectional density + heavy weight normally wins when All FMJ's are used but soft points don't fair as well unless they get a good bit of both velocity and weight. I'm surprised we don't have coulda shoulda woulda comments by now. I imagine tomorrow we will have everyone vying for their favorite that rightly should have won.
Yeah, "shoulda" used 154gr 7.62x39, "shoulda" used fmj for all (but those people don't realize fmj in .270 and .450BM doesn't really exist), "shoulda" used the extreme penetrator (as I already adressed in the video), "shoulda" used a 50bmg... LOL
You're going to need a brass solid, hard-cast lead, or solid copper to resist deformation and penetrate further. Needless to say, concrete blocks are pretty tough on lead projectiles.
I did notice that if you would have made the test the same across all the calibers that they all would half broke the top off the cement block. But what you did was left a gap between the blocks for some and not the others.
Could with the steel core green tip, about 200fps faster over a 16" barrel- but then again that's only a 7% difference in velocity. But the same could be said for .270 & .30-06 - they would much prefer a 24" barrel as opposed to the (roughly) 20" barrels used. 20" barrel to those calibers is equivelant to a 16" barrel for 5.56...
It really depends on the ammo. A lot of 5.56/.223 that's loaded on the lighter side actually doesn't gain any meaningful velocity by going longer than a 16" barrel. If you watch some of Buffman Range's ammo tests .223/5.56 you'll see what I mean.
Fun video but pointless comparison my friend do you have an FMJ on the 556 in a hollow point on the AK round and a soft tip or the 270 and then a partition on the 450 you got to keep the bullet tape consistent for there to be any true data taken from this comparison. But like I said fun video of my friend you certainly have a cool gun collection and a variety of calibers any man would be happy to have. I have a 270 as well in a sirocco swift 130 grain bullet is devastating for deer hunting. I got it going 3,200fps….just insane little cartridge 😱
You can't get fmj in 450 bushmaster or 270- as I stated in the video... Also, it hardly matters because every bullet including fmj just turns into a mangled ball of metal as soon as it hits the block. I'm glad you liked the video though...
I wonder if any soft point rifle round will hit that second block? Now I wonder too if any of those same calibers in a FMJ will hit the second block. I'm guessing it's a yes for the .270 and 30-06 and maybe the 450.
Yup. I used to think that mattered until I watched enough hard barrier tests and saw that they all go splat when they hit, fmj or not. Or where they don't go splat in like say wood, hollow points act as fmj anyway because they don't expand in wood.
Unfortunately I don't know anyone who owns those or I would have already borrowed them, believe me. They are certainly on my wish/eventual buy list though. Those would have been nice to have in my recent bowling ball videos...
Funny and sad how much you have disclose, just to get started... Just to preemptively minimize all the "But... but... BUT... WHAT ABOT THE... !" B.S. Cool video though!
If he were a nice guy, boomstick could have supplied the blocks/ammo and Josh could have used a loader to clean up the mess. That's the way to treat guests. Just sayin' John. JimE
The .450 is not the all powerful round people think it is. Especially against hard barriers. Almost all loadings are lightly constructed hunting bullets designed to expand. So although the exterior ballistics would indicate that it should do more damage, bullet integrity limits it's ability. It is also generally loaded with light for caliber bullets compared to .458 socom, .45/70 or other cartridges in its class A .45/70 with a heavy hard cast bullet would do far more damage . Energy isn't usually the deciding factor in how a bullet/caliber will perform against hard barriers. And I doubt the extreme penetrators would do any better also being light for caliber.
As mentioned in the video, it's no more powerful than the .270 or .30-06. But being a larger heavier and slower 250gr bullet compared to 130 or 150 grains, I thought it had a chance. Hardcast is definately the way to go for penetration...
Those are not cinder blocks they are concrete block.the side if the block is not a concrete block.pour a solid 8"x8"x16 block of concrete and see how they work 😮😮😮
