Still waiting for someone to play Eddie van Halen's riff from the van Halen song 5150, from the van hallen album 5150, using an EVH 5150 guitar, through a EVH 5150 pedal, into a EVH 5150 amp, through a EVH 5150 cab Next rig of the week?
Orange are great amps for sure. I’ve had a few Orange amps. I currently use a 50 watt 5153 el34 paired with a 2x12 orange. Sounds phenomenal for metal tones
Orange has amps named "Terror" and "Dark" and "Thunder" and "Dual Dark" but they're geared to blues artists?!? Good to know. I'll be sure to check out that blues band Mastodon when they come to town. ;)
@@ronnierazor4302 or15, which is the impracitcal single channel brother of it, and it's a death metal monster. along with the nicest freshest crunch tones ever
I've had this amp in the combo version for about two years now. Two sets of power tubes sacrificed. It is the power behind my Tone Henge. Phenomenal sounding amp. The Dirty channel will Doom thru the Apocalypse. Will always recommend the Rocker 15. Get an eq and run it through the loop. Stunning results.
That's why I love Boss pedals so much. The fact that it's so convenient to not only have the option to have it powered by a 9 volt battery, but the fact that they make it so easy to access where the 9 volt goes...amazing. The first pedal I bought when I moved to Montreal was a Metal Zone pedal and...quite frankly, I regret selling it lol
I have the same rig; except my Cab is angled. The natural channel sounds insanely good with a boost or overdrive. The dirty channel.... well. You’re hearing it. F***ing awesome amp.
Hey man, a few questions: How loud does this thing get? Loud enough for a two guitar metal band? How loud does that clean channel stay before it starts breaking up, unpushed?
@@79champions if you're after a loud super clean channel then this ain't for you mate, it will get fairly loud before it distorts but.... As for playing in band and what have you.... easily loud enough
What then? He only would ever play these in the videos ever again because he has to sell them, like he did with his Randall Satan. It's boring. And when you want a ola amp, just go and buy the Randall Satan, it's a hell of an amp.
darillio Well the Satan is so damn expensive, if there was a more affordable Solar amp, it would sell well. If they were in the range of 500-700, I would definitely try it,
@@ithemba I meant something like a line of amps, from something affordable to quite high-end, with maybe some different variations? He also doesn't have to play only "his" gear. Ola has his own brand of guitars, but still is willing to try different ones, like some Schecters etc.
Dude! I use an Orange OR100 and a Rocker 30, and the Boss SD-1 is THE pedal for pushing them off the edge. I dunno what it is, but the minor difference between it and a tube screamer makes a huge difference. It adds just a little lower eq on the mids that makes them growl.
Dude, I really love the set for these videos. Ola did a great job creating a beautiful atmosphere for these demos befitting the perfect place to get your musical spirit going. Would love to have a room like this myself to pick up a guitar and see what happens
Thomas mcfetridge right?! It is sick, I got it and when I then read that it is basically a 15 Watt Version of the Rockerverb Dirty Channel it all made sense. Boosting it with my Ghoulscreamer, awesome pairing. 🤘
This rig in drop D sounds like a chainsaw, and I love it. For everyone asking about the riff at 9:40, it’s the Feared song Psycho Logic, but tuned up to drop D. Ola did a longer play through version of it in his “Mesa dual rec metal/rock” vid. Sounds killer
Really liking the boss super overdrive with my Friedman. Actually prefer it to the tube screamer. Great demo by the way. Love the new bolt on solars as well.
The first thing I do with a new pedal is always take the battery OUT. If you forget about the battery and leave it in there after a couple of years it can leak and destroy the pedal.
Well, aside those batteries, Boss pedals are still the most amazing ones. Most amazing ones, you say? Yes. The ratio between quality and the price is just amazing. Sure, they don't have all those fucking hipster hand drawn shitty logos over them and they don't glow in the dark, but they produce the sound one needs.
My rig, nice. Rocker 30 though. Class A amp from England. Same cab, Not the axe either, but that's it. Washburn 1983 AV 120 is what I unleash. Ola approved rig. Tits on a ritz!!
I've noticed that even when you turn the mid control all the way down, Orange amps still sound pretty mid-rangey - you can't get much of a scooped tone. I guess that's just their signature tone.
Do they make that model in a combo? I'd say if you're playing at home by yourself, get a combo - if you're gigging with a band, get a head and cab. Although I gigged with a 50 watt combo for a decade. I usually ran a 2x12 extension cab. You're going to need more than 15 watts if you're gigging though, and probably even for band rehearsal.
When we gonna get some Solar amps . Voiced like a Mesa Recto and an Orange amp mixed together with a touch of Randall Satan. Also Solar fret wraps , Solar tortex and ultex sharp picks and a Solar overdrive pedal . Solar cabs loaded with v30s and dv77s . Lol
Ive got a couple little oranges ( micro heads) and lets be real they are fun to jam through because orange just like all other amps has its own signature sound nothing sounds like an orange ..i like vox.orange and peavey these days.....i also own some line 6's and marshalls and those sound great also
I absolutely hate the treble on Oranges. It is exactly the same buzz range which makes my head aching, and feels like all bones are resonating, you know this feeling from the dentist drill? Exactly the same
Ola ive bought the silver mxr 6 band eq but it wont turn on with the power supply or battery. Could that be a manufacturing problem or am i missing something?
I agree. I’ve never had good luck with them. Then I hear ola and I’m like damn I need an orange. They’re just very specific I guess and don’t leave a lot of room open like other amps to find your tone.
Why don't you hide a beer? Moreover, like any Orange amp it sounds too fat to me without an overdrive. I think there are better alternatives for metal players nowadays.
Orange gets the uninterested thumbs down cause to many people use them. I have always been a person that likes to use things most people do not use. I would rather play a clone amp with no name on it. The only brand I would care to sport is Solar, so Ola please think about getting into the amp business as well.
Fuck yeah, my favorite amp. Takes really well boosts with personality. I use a MXR 78 badass, does the perfect job of tightening the lows and increasing the mid range dynamics. But you really have to play it in 7 or 15 watts to get the growl and the dynamics. All the demos in 0.5 or 1 watts are mehh.
today i confirm my taste is towards orange over a marshall. nothing against marshall, i just like the orange tone for my personal preference. the clean tone can use some reverb though again my taste.
The riff is a Feared song, but played in drop d. Look up Ola’s vid called “Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier- Metal/Rock. He does a more thorough version of it. To me, it was made for drop d tuning from the start.
I love Orange amps and I've really had my eye on this one. I was definitely excited to see Ola demoing it this week. The Rocker pretty much sounds like I was expecting so I guess it's time to order one, thanks Ola!
