Such a cool project! Can’t wait to see the final result. Also love motopia! That’s where I got my Hunter 350, sadly only had my bike for about a week before it got stolen lol

I’m doing the exact same, the Himalayan front end bolts right in. Brake lines, abs, speed sensor an the all important 21” wheel
@RustisGoldGarage
@RustisGoldGarage 9 месяцев назад
I think that’s the best approach. Wanted to try using the stock wheel just for the cost to keep the budget down. But it definitely needs the 21”. Thanks for watching!

It’s a wicked video series. It’s looking good though! Parts out of India are pretty reasonably priced. Not sure if shipping cost to USA but to Australia is well cheaper than local dealerships unfortunately.

Yes, a complete Himmy front end would work fine, but would be costly. Lacing a 21" wheel and figuring out a fender are much easier.

I think you are right@@alan_2056. Next video sort of wraps it up and gives cost breakdown. Thanks for watching!

Will there be a part 4 of 4? I’m thinking of something similar but I want a 19” front wheel.

I am just about to do the same thing but tell me, why did you not just fit an entire front end from a Himalayan? 21 inch wheel and all? Thats what I am doing and am just upgrading the forks with Andreani internals tuned for the 650 and my weight. Also upgrading the front calliper/master cylinder to a Brembo. All easy stuff to do. Rear shocks more of a problem, but YSS do a custom extra long shock or I will use the Triumph Ohlin (OEM only) 200mm shocks for the 1200 XC.

That sounds like an amazing build. Post some pictures when you get a chance. Didn’t do the complete front end initially because it was supposed to be a budget build. I will end up doing the entire front end with a Himalayan 21 inch wheel. Thanks for watching and I will have a follow up video here shortly.

I did this mod about 3 years ago and then did a full on swap of the moving parts with a Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC :) . I've uploaded the videos of the build here

Prices of 650 front hubs have gone way up, if you can find one for $100 grab it. Also ebay is full of 21" aluminum rims (stock are steel) I'll be lacing a 650 hub to the alum 21" more info when I have it.
@RustisGoldGarage

I think I'm going the lacing route. Let me know where you get your spokes from. I think it's a more practical approach.

Why don't you put in a YSS fork kit made for the Himalayan ....then you have a better spring with preload adjustments
@RustisGoldGarage
@RustisGoldGarage 9 месяцев назад
That’s a great idea, and one we thought of. But remember this is a budget build and we’re trying to see what we can do within a certain budget and still have a decent handling Off-road bike. Thanks for watching and really appreciate the input!

I'd love to know if Himalayan hubs are the same as the 650 and stock 21" wheel and spokes will lace up. If not I hope Buchannon has a part number for a 21" spoke kit for a 650 hub/Himmy rim.
@RustisGoldGarage
@RustisGoldGarage 9 месяцев назад
Let me know what you end up doing. Would love to hear from others doing that 21" wheel conversion.
@alan_2056

Himmy hubs are not the same as 650. Himmy brakes won't work with 650 forks. Continental GT 535 hubs seem the same as 650 (I have not measured to confirm) and they're cheap. Same bearings, seals and center spacer, BUT they use a slightly smaller OD, 6-bolt brake rotor not a 5-bolt rotor like the 650, so just redrill your stock rotor, bolt it up and ride.

Yes, I did. But I am going to swap the entire front end with a Himalyan front end, the Interceptor wheel is too small. Need that 21"

Personally, I think this bike looks absolutely horrible - search sold out motorcycles and look for their "mudslinger" build - that's a pretty scrambler build!
