When he got to the part where he’s says that he is self taught and doesn’t understand music theory makes me appreciate Will that much more. That’s exactly how I am and how I write music. What’s weird and strange is that I had a very similar conversation today showing someone my new demos. Guess I’m just gonna not question things and stick to the songs I’ve got working. As an honest boomer I think I missed the boat on this dude but his attitude was awesome and I can totally get behind the “new stuff inspires me” mentality and not overthinking it
So cool! At some point you guys should swing out and do a rundown for The Midnight! With the amount of instrument-switching and the awesome gear each member has, it seems like it would make for a great video!
If you took the basketball from Space Jam and sucked the talent from every guitar player in every band Dance Gavin Dance has ever toured with, that would still just barely be Will Swan on an off day. My favorite guitar player of the genre, just consistently creative and awesome.
Though he's one of my favorites also... That's just wrong haha. They toured with animals as leaders. You can't top tosin abasi. If we're talking talent.. I'm positive tosin could play any dgd song there's ever been written lol. I can't say the same about will swan playing aal songs. He def out talents like 95% of them, but tosin is tosin lol Edit:okay so idk if they actually toured with them, apparently animals as leaders dropped off the tour.. but their was replacement polyphia lmao.. yet another band with an absolutely ridiculous guitarist
Son of Robot when I first heard it, I was like, "wow that keyboard is sick". When I found out it wasn't a keyboard I was even more amazed. Shout to Will Swan for always making sick sounds
Ive been playing drums for 30.years but i wish i would have spent a little time learning guitar. Dont get me wrong drums are awesome but i wish i could sit down and create a melody out of thin air.
