Would love to see "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" belted out on some of these magical instruments now that I know the stories behind em. Thank you for another lovely episode.
His playing reminds me very much of Mark Knopfler's. The fingerpicking with volume swells weaves a cool sound through out a song. The guitar solo of their cover of "Girl form the North Country" really makes the song.
I bought my first Gretsch guitar about 6 months ago and I quickly learned that it doesn't matter what kind of pickups are in it a Gretsch sound like a Gretsch. They absolutely love to be soaked in Reverb
Saw them around that time as well, opening for Loggins & Messina at the Cow Palace. Always a bonus when the opening act is headliner quality too. Whenever Mr. Bojangles comes on the radio still always listen.
OK now that is how you do it! I’ve been a fan of Jeff’s music - he’s even cooler than I would have expected and I’m going to be following Jaime who is equally cool. Great great episode for sure!
Great interview John! Loved every minute of it! These guys have been around the block more than a few times! Really enjoyed the stories and details of their rigs, sounds and tones.
My hair was long 30 years ago what are they talking about when his hair was long? I refuse to cut my hair I never will even if I go bald on the top I don't give a rat's ass
