You helped me out in the first five seconds. I haven't been that careful about the direction of the spool turning and have had some line twists. Thanks mate!
Thanks, you got me started in game fishing. I copied your setup initially because I did not know better. Now I know better and understand what a great setup this is. I skipped buying the wrong gear initially and figuring out later on what was the right stuff, all thanks to you. Spooled it up exactly the same way, splicing, winding, biminis, everything worked exactly as you showed it. It's a beautiful rig and works fantastically well (I used this from a cruising sailboat). Thanks for providing this super high quality content/knowledge completely for free, and even entertaining me in the process.
Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod ru-vid.comUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.
Hi Matt, Just setting up a bunch of overheads for trolling, plenty of guys telling me to go mono over braid in case of lines crossing over and breaking etc. what’s your thoughts mate? Cheers.
Mate I’m Aussie no more questions I’ve been putting tape on my spools for years now. I have never had corrosion. If anything I have found it to prevent corrosion because it acts like a barrier between the salt and the spool.
