MICRO JIGS - They are the shore fisherman's anti skunk device - if you haven't used them yet, I suggest you should. Micro jigs are small and heavy, giving you great casting range - most micro jigs these days are also quite easy to use. There are even some you just cast and reel slowly and work close to the bottom and catch even when the times are tough.
The biggest issue with micro jigs is the hardware - at least for how they are used here in the UAE. However, with their potential to catch bigger fish, it is advisable to upgrade the hooks. Given that you will be fishing with light line, upgrading the hooks are enough to at least give you a fighting chance to catch the bigger fish that bite. If you start using heavier line, don't forget to upgrade the split ring to thicker wired ones as well.
Often the biggest problem when upgrading is finding the right sized assist hooks - most tackle shops will only carry the ready made jigs but not the replacement hooks - Trebles are a bit easier to find, it is the assist hook that is difficult.
