Here is a quick video on rigging a @zmanfishingproducts MinnowZ,also known as the "rubber band" plastic. I know some people stay away from Z-Man because of how difficult it could be to rig them. In this video, I'll show you how easy it is to rig these baits and how it will help you catch more fish. You can pick up both of these products at @bettsfishingcenter here in Largo, Florida.

I tried the Texas Eyez today with 4" Diesel minnowz, Slam Shady color of course, and it seems like the hookup ratio is pretty bad. But the action is amazing. I had a couple decent bites that didn't get hooked up, and caught a couple lizard fish. Maybe it was all lizard fish and croakers so they were hard to hook. More experiments are needed. Maybe I need a stiffer rod too. What rod do you guys recommend for jigs and weedless soft plastic presentations? I need the right rod for flounder jigging and hopefully it works with the Texas Eye and other weedless rigs.

Over the years, I have always gone with a tad stiffer rod for Texas Eye or SnakelockZ jigheads. If you have lizard fish hitting it, you probably won't hook many because their mouth isn't big enough to get that whole bait. I've always favored the SnakelockZ because of the hook they use vs the Texas Eye. I think it's a VMC on the Texas Eye and a Mustad on the SnakelockZ. The sizes are the same, but the hooks aren't. Hope this helps. Also, don't tie a loop knot to these swivel style hooks, a direct cinch knot works better.

@@Jessewrightfishing I can't find either Snake Locks or Texas Eyes in my area. I bought the one pack of Snake Locks and really like them too, but had the same issue with hooking fish. Today it was hard to get them on a regular jig head, so I think it was just lizard fish, croakers and spots. I caught all 3 between the Gulp and Z Man stuff. I was close to Langley AFB is the Back River right near where it dumps into the Chesapeake.
