Good work. I am a six year guide in SE Alaska and am just getting into the 'flutter jig' technique. Will let you know how it goes with halibut, lingcod, King salmon and black rockfish

Good luck michael. My advice is vary the movement and speed of the jigging action and you will find that some species will react differently to others but I would recommend that you start with a medium small lift mechanical action with small quarter turns of the handle to keep the jig in the zone. Good luck

Tie the assist hooks to the lower swivel that is connected on the split ring
@elitetackle1721
@elitetackle1721 Год назад
You can do this but as I majority of my assist rigs are pre-rigged with a solid ring I find this rigging method ideal for my purpose. Thanks for your thoughts, cheers

If you were shore jigging or casting jigs would you add a swivel also? How about smaller jigs like 20g-50g. Same setup?
@elitetackle1721
@elitetackle1721 4 года назад
Hi Thomas. Yes I would add as a swivel no mater what size jig I would use. It adds many benefits like if the jig spins then the line isn't twisted up, also with the addition of a split ring the jig can be easily interchanged

It is better to use big hook or small hook for fishing. ..... which one would you suggest .. my concept is very rare.
@elitetackle1721
@elitetackle1721 4 года назад
The size of lure will dictate the size of hook.

Cool video. Just wondering how you set up your leader?
@elitetackle1721
@elitetackle1721 4 года назад
So with my leader I normally run say 3 - 4 meters of 80lb mono and my 50-60lb outfit and I tie a FG knot from my braid to my leader

What hooks are being put on that lure? And can you use that jig to cast from shore?
@elitetackle1721
@elitetackle1721 3 года назад
we use the NEW SYNOTEK BKK assist rigs which are by far the best we have seen for these sorts of jigs. Yes you can use from the shore but I would only run a set off the top of jig

Do you think we can use these for inshore?
@elitetackle1721
@elitetackle1721 3 года назад
absolutely mate they are awesome for many inshore species. I just adjust my jig weight according to my jig depth. So for me if Im fishing say 20m of water I might use a 60 - 80g jig weight and if fishing say 30m I might use 100g. Of course there are other factors but this is a good guideline to start from. Cheers

Do you recommend adding a ball bearing swivel to a Vertical Jigging Tackle Lure -Jigging Lures jigs?
@elitetackle1721
@elitetackle1721 3 года назад
Hey Dan, yes I recommend attaching a swivel (doesnt have to be ball bearing but certainly high quality) as sometimes the jig will spin depending on the situation. When I'm jigging I like to crank the jig in fast after the jig has moved out of the jigging range or I have finished my drift so this may cause the jig to spin and cause line twist.

@@elitetackle1721 one more question, what do you recommend a Rod for fast and slow jigging? Right now I'm just using a regular 7' medium heavy spinning Rod
@alluvz2fish
@alluvz2fish 4 года назад
I see that you rigged up both hooks in the same position. Can you rig in to hooks facing opposite directions? Can you tell me if there are any benefits to both facing the same or facing opposite. Look forward to hearing from you!
@elitetackle1721
@elitetackle1721 4 года назад
Hi Alan. There is no real easy way to rig hooks facing a particular direction on the assist cord and those particular assist hooks can easily face in opposite directions. Also remember when fluttering these jigs the hooks will be going in all directions so even if you could set on the assist cord as you wanted it really would make no difference once jigging
@seanblanch9536
@seanblanch9536 2 года назад
Yes you can make the hooks face opposite directions. It's actually quite easy. Most Shimano jigs come rigged that way. When you're attaching your assist hooks to the jigs ring its done by passing the hook through the loop on the assist cord which chokes the assist cord to the jigs ring. Do this in opposite directions so you don't needlessly have 2 identical hooks facing the same direction.
@jbl2270

Doesnt the swivel cancel out the fluttering action when slow jigging? I was fishing that set up next to a fisherman that was catching all kinds of fish. He suggested that I use an 8 ring instead of a swivel. I've yet to try it out
@elitetackle1721

@@elitetackle1721 Btw, I have combined my 1998 Ambassadeur 6500C with my Abyss Assassin jigging rod. I have been told that the ambassadeur has too small of a spool to give me a good action on slow jigging. Do you think that can be the case really?
@elitetackle1721
@elitetackle1721 3 года назад
@@jbl2270 Thats very difficult to say with actually me holding both that rod in reel in my hand. There are other factors also to consider like what speed you like to jig at, what handle movement you do and what jigging motion you take. All these contribute to your end jigging action
