I expect this wasn't even computer animated but just a lot of filters added on top of each other to create the cartoon look it has which it pretty neat
The day this music video was released in 1983 was the day the 80s officially became the 80s. Literally everything we associate with the 80s is here. Cool, cutting edge at the time visuals. Baby blue. Hot pink. In your face geometry and shapes. Spacey apparel. Synths galore. Pop tunes. Etc.
1970's had a rough transition from hand-painted posters of 60's into digitally reproduced vibrant colors of the 80's, through grainy Technicolor sepia tones.
trust me, i was there at time. the interesting thing is that very famous thing like that where inpired by the fashion of the time and and the seme time was inspiring too. that's why they look so '80 that you con't believe is real
@@stevenr.rodriguez9997 I didn't realize they were Italian. Technically you want to say tens of thousands of employees were laid off by many companies. Because altogether, tens of thousands got fired, unless you're suggesting that some Italian co.s had hundreds of thousands of workers in the 80s, and many of those co.s laid off over 10,000 people.
Ciao La Bionda, great memories with this wonderful Song.. i'm half german, half italian, living here in Brunswick in Germany and Love Italo-Disco since 1983, now i'm 52 and well Young at Heart, doin' electronic music with my Roland jd-xi Synthesizer and have fun.. so you all please stay safe from the Corona Virus and many greetings, tanti saluti a tutti.. my father was originated from San Marzano in Puglia..
I love how Italian Futurism probably played a role in the inspiration of this video, the building present in the video for example is part of Sant'Elia's Futurist architecture exhibit "La Cittá Nuova"
there is also historical footage of the italian ocean liner SS Rex and 1930s italian air force and tanks, it would be interesting to know if any of it connects to the song or if it's just for aesthetics
@@sirdank5422 The first verse heavily praises modern technology and the city, something that Futurism does by its principle of the love of machines and the industrial city: "Los modernos lujos viven aquí En el lugar más alto de mi ciudad Se nutren de imágenes y de relais Yo quisiera estar ahí más" The second verse after the refrain goes further into Futurism, "The new italians create here": most members of the Futurist avant-garde were mostly Italian and and outside of Italy were mostly active in America, France and Spain (there was also a separate movment in Russia). "Undaunted and proud of their speed" further principles of Futurism contain the love for the beauty of speed, audacity and (in relation to the patriotism of Futurists) pride. "Neo-psychic is the synthetic eden" pride and admiration of the industrial city as a "synthetic eden". "Los nuevos italianos crean aquí Impávidos y fieros de la velocidad Neo psichico es el sintético edén Yo quisiera estar ahí más" In the last verse, the "Godess" here is to be exact, Nike the Greek Godess of Victory, the Godess is portrayed in statues as the "Nike of Samothrace" or best known as "Winged Victory of Samothrace", I will take a passage from the "Manifesto of Futurism" by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti to prove this: "We declare that the splendor of the world has been enriched by a new beauty: The beauty of speed. A racing automobile with its bonnet adorned with great tubes like serpents with explosive breath ... A roaring motor car which seems to run on machine-gun fire, is more beautiful than the Victory of Samothrace". Further enstabilishing the principle of the "beauty of speed" and also as a rejection of the old. "Neo psichico, besado de una dea tu eres, patria de estos te crean"
@@backslash68 Yeah that too, Turin and Milan aren't too far apart! There is of course references to the De Stijl movment aswell, but it felt to obvious to point that out
@@TheAmbasador99 mostly of the song is inspired on fascist Italia futurist era, but I still can't relate that to the main verse "no tengo dinero" (I ain't got no money) :I
GLI ANNI 80.... ANNI MAGICI!!!!! QUESTO SPLENDIDO BRANO DEI RIGHEIRA, ARRANGIATO CON SONORITA' ELETTRONICHE DAI FRATELLI CARMELO & MICHELANGELO LA BIONDA, ANCORA OGGI E' UN PEZZO CHE SPACCA!!!!!!!
between the 70's and even into the early 2000's it was common that italian groups/singers sang their songs in spanish, maybe becuase spain+latin america is a very big market in comparison to italy. And the people there liked it.
I saw the (non-extended) video _once_ on “Night Flight” in ‘83 and that goddamned chorus stayed embedded in my brain for _decades_ . As earworms go, it’s insidious. I found it again a couple of years ago and inflic... uh, _shared_ with my friends, several of whom bitched at me a couple of months later that they couldn’t get it out of their heads.
I can think of that! I had the same with "People from Ibiza" which I heard the first time aboard of a ferry... it must have been 20 years later before I finally got my hands on that 7" single...
Once impressed by this music at my 18, I am still inspired by listening to it. Fantastic voices, briliant arrangement, lovely spanish. And still sounds modern. Ahead of time. And, of course, brings me back into disco times... Golden 80s
