macmost.com/e-3145 If you have a MacBook or a Mac with a Magic trackpad, there is no right button for you to press. But you can still right click using a variety of different techniques.

I’ve been using Mac’s for over a decade now. I still watch this videos about the basics just in case I overlook something all this years. 😂

Me, I kinda became a master by watching his videos (to date) for a little over a year, coming from Windows. True, there's always something to learn from his Videos more than Apple will ever to do on their channel.

▼ Hey Gary, for decades I've used the Option Key as my "right click" solution on my Macs (which I've never had to set up). Always good to see your videos and learn something new or different :-)

3:58 bottom right corner for sure just like other operating systems. I didn't even know that one can do two fingers for right click.

It's nice to have the other options, but I prefer to just have my magic mouse (or trackpad) behave as if it has a right-click button. Some folks might have missed that in the video as it goes by quickly. It's good to know that the mouse has an equivalent option.

Everytime i watch one of your videos, i learn something new but I'm also "OMG i cant believe Apples does this!" In each of your videos. This is just another thing about Mac OS that drives me crazy. Yet another hidden command / gesture... Two fingers "secondary click". I just use a two button mouse so i don't have to think of having to use Control or a two finger tap to get to the secondary click. It's pretty universal for track pads to have right click on bottom right corner as most people use a two button mouse. It just makes more sense to have that as the default option. As we move into a world where people dock multiple laptops, devices and operating systems, two buttons on the mouse / trackpad is just the norm. For years, my primary pointing device was a Wacom tablet and even that, right click on the stylus or on the pad itself is secondary click.

You don't need a 2-button mouse for this. In settings you can make your Apple mouse respond like a 2-button mouse when you right-click on it. Same for your trackpad, except you click on the bottom right corner. You can even have a left-click function in this manner if that's your preference. I think I'm in the minority of users who really like the Magic Mouse and its unique features.

When I began learning how to use the Mac in 2012, I thought, how on earth do you right click?! The default way is to click on any part of the mouse or trackpad while holding down the command key. Something I still do from time to time as a time saver. I later realised that you can activate right click in then what was called System Preferences, now System Settings under Mouse or Trackpad.

The one thing I really miss from windows is the extra right click usability. I really miss the right click to select move or copy with drag and drop Are there any unilities for mac that give extra functions ?

Not sure what you mean. Right click brings up the context menu which has these functions.

@@macmost I was looking for a utility that added more right click options like I can use with windows

@@marklaurendet1861 So more items in the menu? Depends on what you want to add and to what objects. Shortcuts is a tool that will do a lot here.
