I believe that is right, I remember this commercial when I was in the 5th grade and I used to entertain my friends imitating the one we called the ''Hi Guy!''. my 5th grade year was 1969-1970.
MAD or one of those satire mags had a satire on commercials and after the neighbor says one shots gets me through the day, the dark haired guy is leaning over with a smoking gun, something like here's a shot for peeking on my wife Mona in the shower!
Seeing these ads as a child really disturbed me. I didn't understand it was a fictional situation. That's probably why I barely use that cabinet in my place.
haha funny as hell i remember these commercials i remember 1 where this guy was talking to a woman in the mirror cabinet like this then the next episode she introduced her husband and the other guy closed the mirror quick haha.
The actor opposite Chuck McCann was the late Bill Fiore (1940-2014) he also did voice work for the video game "Grand Theft Auto" Here's his IMDB link: www.imdb.com/name/nm0278446/
Chuck McCann was really great. He was so terrific doing the comics on Sunday mornings back in the 60s. He read the comics and dressed up like the characters. So much fun for the kids of that time, myself being one of them.
Well, he IS 78 years old. He's bound to get his dates and times mixed up. But it DOES come from the horse's mouth, so to speak, and not some random "fact" on Twitter.
Correct. Sorry I didn't give him credit before. I have always thought I remembered seeing him play a lawyer on Return To Peyton Place back in 1972 which would have been at the heigth of his fame due to this commercial series.
On a Spanish dub of this commercial, someone posted that they recalled seeing this (in English) on TV in 1970. Seems about right based on the look of it. Very cool!
There was a second companion commercial with a teenage kid. He opens the medicine cabinet and the other side opens. Chuck McCann says, “Hi guy! You must be mona’s kid.” For some reason, that has been funny to me since I was a teenager. I still say it, but nobody but me seems to remember it.
