This is called blue-eyed soul. These guys were the best. Bobby Hatfield with his beautiful tenor voice & Bill Medley with his deeper voice. They were magic together. And remember this is done live. No auto-tuning crap like today. And the songs had meaningful beautiful lyrics.

Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield were absolutely great singers. But also the song is very good written and the production and orchestration is genius. It´s called "wall of sound" and it was invented from Phil Spector. He was a great producer in the sixties, but also a crazy and terrible human beeing.
@laminage
@laminage Год назад
@@uwejohn6626 Yes, he had quite a history. He did The Court Transcription For The Murder Of Johnny Stompanato who was dating Movie Legend Lana Turner. Cheryl her 15 Year Old Daughter went on Trial but it was Lana who actually did it. He also was a One Hit Wonder as a Member Of The Teddy Bears with "To Know Him Is To Love Him", then he wrote "I Love How You Love Me" by The Paris Sisters but his work as a Record Producer stood the test of time. He helped epitomize the "Original" Girl Group Phenomenon from 1960-1964 before The British Invasion. Check Out Be My Baby (That Inspired Brian Wilson Of The Beach Boys to do an answer Song called "Don't Worry Baby), he also Produced Da Do Run Run & He's a Rebel For The Crystals and River Deep Mountain High for Ike & Tina Turner. The Show you are watching them on is Shindig a popular US Rock & Roll Show from the 1960's. In future years he would be a major influence on ABBA's Producer Michael Tretow, Brian Wilson and in The UK Xenomania who was also influenced by Motown. Xenomania gave Cher her Comeback Hit "Believe" and because of them, Cher now holds the distinction of having hits in every decade since she started in the 1960's.

Kind of a racist statement isn't it? Blue-eyed soul. Do either of these guys have blue eyes, or is it just a thinly veiled attempt to express that skin color has something to do with vocal chord quality?

@@kimmytuna5180 I think its more so to show its a derivative from traditional soul music, aka black soul music. Racisms everywhere if you try hard enough to see it there.

I hope that you will listen to Bobby"s [the Tenor] LIVE performance on the Andy Williams show, 1965. Just Bobby with that tiny mic and Andy's great orchestra. The Song? "Unchained Melody." You won't believe it. Bobby made a whole world of women fall in love with him that night. And Bill? Brown eyed Woman" and so many others. These two were great, duo or solo

This was filmed live onstage with a studio audience in one take in 1965. I wasn't born yet. My Grandma called this blue eyed soul. You guys are young so I don't know if you are aware of this but Auto tune that's used today to even out voices and make them sound better when recorded, wasn't invented until 1997.

Ladies, I love your channel. The Righteous Brothers were so incredibly popular in the 60s and were listened to by millions of those of us who loved music on the radio. This blue-eyed soul knows no real color. Soul is soul. And what is most interesting to me is that these guys sang rather sorrowful songs about new-found love and the possibility of lost love. What is more interesting is that these singers NEVER degraded or demeaned the women about whom they were singing. If you're interested in listening to other blue-eyed soul singers, I would suggest Boz Scaggs, Michael MacDonald and also Michael Bolton. Their voices are amazing!! Thanks!

The Powerful Sensations flowing from this song are hard to explain. These two singers in a live performance sound better then the doctored up songs coming from a Studio. To me the most sensational male singers with voices that stand alone . The low and high notes these guys hit cover the whole spectrum of voice sound.

Black and white folk alike who deprived themselves of the other groups' music did a terrible disservice to THEMSELVES. There was so much trading back and forth between the musicians that often it was hard to recognize whether it was a black or white group with new releases being played on the radio. The Righteous Brothers' newest releases could've just as easily been mistaken for black singers as The Temptations could've been for the Righteous Brothers. And when it came to making the music draw in all races of fans, it's not a stretch to give Eric Clapton as much credit for the explosion of popularity the Blues saw in the '60s and '70s as "The Three Kings" naturally were given because the Blues was a genuinely black genre, and black fans, especially in the South and Northerners who were born in the South gave them without investigating the oft-times unbelievably difficult, interesting, and highly emotional stories of their young lives. Blue-eyed Soul nor black soul weren't born in a vacuum as they melded and developed into the shared genre they became during the aforementioned decades. Duane Allman (Founder and leader of The Allman Brothers Band) was one of the most sought-after session players on guitar at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL in the mid to late '60s. The "Swampers" were the (more or less) permanent rhythm section at Fame. Soul performers from Aretha Franklin to Percy Sledge and Wilson Pickett would hear a soul song somewhere, find out where it was recorded and book sessions there to record their next album or single, thinking the whole time that they were booking sessions with a black Producer, black rhythm section and probably black engineers and technicians too, but they would one by one walk into Fame and see nothing but white guys tuning up and jammin' while waiting for the featured performer(s) to get there. Once the arrangements and rehearsals were out of the way, the tracks started getting laid down, and like the many times before when the players and vocalists were multi-racial, the divisions just melted away. One of the session drummers that Duane Allman had become good friends with during his time at Fame, was Jai Jonny Johansen, who would later become known simply as "Jaimo," was one of two regular drummers who toured and recorded with Otis Redding before he died. In '67 or thereabouts, Duane decided it was time to put his own band together. He took Jaimo with him down to Daytona where Duane and his baby brother, Gregg Allman, had grown up. Duane and Jaimo started scouring the club scene all up and down FL and he consistently introduced Jaimo as "the first member" of his new band. Did I mention that Jaimo is black, or that Duane was this skinny white kid with long hair and mutton-chop sideburns? By '69 Duane had formed his band, named it, found a guy named Phil Walden to take a chance on funding their startup, debuted their first self-titled album. The Allmans are credited with inventing "Southern Rock," but none of them particularly liked the moniker. Anyway, The ABB were also known for breaking the color barrier for a rock band that came out of the deep South. Jaimo was with em from the first show to the last, 45 years later. He is one of only two surviving original members, Dickey Betts being the other one. Eric Clapton cut his musical eye teeth on the black man's Blues, and Duane cut his on Eric Clapton. Baby Brother Gregg was thought by many Blue's fans, myself included, to be one of the greatest Blues singers of all time, and that conclusion was usually drawn before anyone hearing him for the first time on the radio even gave a thought as to his skin color. Listen young ladies, I'm glad to see you giving the soul music that I and my generation grew up with a fair listen, but please don't make the comparisons between black or white as you're listening to it. It's all about what the music DOES to YOUR souls, and with just this one reaction video, it was plainly obvious that you were moved by a couple of white guys that your parents, grandparents and maybe even great grandparents were deprived of for whatever reason(s). Music, no matter the source, is the best medicine God ever blessed mankind with.

9 octave vocal range? lol.....a piano has only 7 octaves. His lowest recorded note was an A#2/G3 in the song "He" and his highest recorded note was an E5 in "Unchained Melody" or an Eb6 in "If I asked you". That's 2.5 octaves.
