(Duke of Mantua).
Rigoletto was the first opera my dad ever took me to see, at the Met. Actually he bought the wrong tickets - he meant to take me to see Hansel and Gretel, and once he realized his mistake he tried to get us to leave, thinking the opera would bore me. But I refused to leave. And he told me that from the very beginning to the very end I was mesmerized. From then on I fell madly in love with opera. Hearing every moment of this brings my dad right back to me. Thank you dad… I love you so much.
for me it was my mum she was a NY conservatory graduate & always had Opera on in the house all through my Rock & roll years I would put the headphones on in bed after smashing out LZ The Who BS ext.. put on all the greats I had them all.
@@alexandervapnyar3979 Definitely. Although, I imagine in the past when they staged this they probably did have some skimpy clothed girls for the scene in the duke's court.
Luciano Pavarotti never lost his great vocal power and outstanding vocal range right to the last. What a memorable voice ad infinitum!! He is a supreme Legend!
I think it only works that way if you know what the lyrics mean. But for anyone else I'm certain they don't smile nearly as much, since they aren't in on the actual comedy of it all. ~

don't trust the subtitles because it doesn't say that. I am Italian and I can tell you that he says: Graceful face, in tears or in laughter, is a liar.
+IsabeMakes me happy too Isabell! I am a Pavarotti fan and Pavarotti makes me happy! I have the DVD of this opera and sometimes it lifts my spirit and sometimes makes me sad. I miss him so much. No more new Pavarotti operas.
+Isabel v try in the morning when going to the shower to listen this song in the background, will give a different perspective to the day ahead of you :P
Anyone (younger person) who kind of likes the "classic" opera melodies should see a favorite opera performed live. There is NOTHING like it any more. They are guaranteed to increase their realm of musical appreciation. My favorite is when I attended a live performance of "Il Travatore" at a local high school (by adults); followed in second place by a performance of Wagner's "Die Walkure" with a full orchestra.
I had the fortune at my high school to partecipate at a extracurricolar project called "all'opera, all'opera". They let us see at the famous "San Carlo" theater great operas chosen by 3 possible sequences of titles. You chose one and with €10 (for each opera) you could see the operas (and Also ballets) but before you saaw the opera/ballet there was a discussion about it... It was one of the most marvellous experience of my life... I have seen 10 or more operas there at "San Carlo" theater... I had so much good luck by experiencing that magic...
I grew up listening to this wonderful talent. My maternal grandfather had tapes of him playing in his office and whenever I visited him, Pavarotti was singing in the background. Thank you, grandfather, for exposing me to culture and instilling in me a strong work ethic. I miss you dearly.
Semplici errori ortografici.
I remember going to the opera with some friends many years ago, we had pretty bad seats all the way in the back. I was blown away by the talent of the singers, it was well worth the expensive tickets. A memory I'll always cherish is when this song started, unexpectedly : I could see from where I was everyone's head bobling to the music, from left to right, it was surreal. Like, everyone was so happy that at long last this iconic song started playing. Good times
He reminds me of my Grandfather, a Doctorine of Music from the University of Mexico City. A beautiful opera singer asked to sing around the world but stayed to raise my Mommy and take care of my brother and sisters of mine. Thank you Pavarotti for reminding me of him.
My replied is Luciano is singing with the angels 😇. I did see him performing in person. Magnificent. As he once stated that God hand's had touched his vocal cords . He was 👍 love the gentleman.
Martin Velez It is, at least in this case. It also provides a nice counter-part to his first aria Questa o Quella - "This girl or that girl are the same to me". (I know you know it, it's just for the benefit of those who don't)
Right?? Looking at her like "Oh yeah. I'mma tap dat ass. Sooner or later." Dude was clearly a mack. And at the beginning he's staring into the camera with crazy eyes too, definitely meme-worthy.
Luciano Pavarotti (R.I.P.) He was a master and genius of classical music. A voice to be remembered for many centuries. Always perfect in intonation and interpretation. Simply madrigal. P.S.: I always thought of him playing in the cinema the Brutus of the adventure of the sailor Popeye. It was enough for a sailor outfit. And he would be 100% ready for the role.
Excellent voice, song & man Luciano Pavarotti! I love this man & all of his music. He's a one of a kind singer with a "God given voice" who entertained many many well know people all over the world during his lifetime. I have a special room in my heart for him to be whenever I want to hear him sing again for me.Hope you enjoy him as much as I have during my lifetime too. sincerely with Love, julio/artist
It's probably not what you meant, but just in case. You do know of course that this is not "Pavarotti's music". This is music by Giuseppe Verdi, and it's not a stand-alone song either, it's an aria from opera Rigoletto. But you probably used it as a figure of speech, just clarifying in case someone misunderstands you. Pavarotti was a great singer, one of the best tenors ever; I feel lucky having heard him live, but he wasn't a composer. I am sure you know it, but some people may be confused.
The three tenors concert back in 1993 was an unforgettable event . The digital world we're living in makes it possible to recall all those unique moments in time !
As part of my music class we had to learn about composers. Verdi was one of them. I have listened to this song about 15 times in the last 2 months. I cannot get this out of my head. One of the best songs to learn in school of all time.
Aloha Luciano Pavarotti and yonnedesire !!! Love your rendition of "La Donna E Mobile." I have followed your career as a teenager and even now at age 78. Thank you so much for your rare and joyous and bold enthusiasm !!!! R.I. P. Pavarotti !!!!! God bless !!! Your faithful fan, Robert S. J. Hu August 16, 2020.

too late, back then when first release, the whole italy sang this aria all over ever corner of the street! but it always great to be close to Pizza...real one,
Case you missed it, pizza is not the only Italian food. Italy has the best cooking in the world. And surely we make pizza better than any other country. Oh, by the way, Pavarotti was from Modena. So instead of pizza you can think to "Gnocco, tigelle, Lambrusco, salumi". Have a nice dinner
@@Senna-78 It's so easy to ruffle Italian people's feathers, it's not even fun anymore. Also - I've had dinner in Italy on many occasions, and your food isn't that special. Have you even tried true Mexican or Greek cuisine? Indonesian is amazing as well. But Italian food? Not even a bloody Chili pepper in sight, just loads of salt and parmigiano to cover up the lack of flavour. The only good things coming from Italy are Verdi, Botticelli and Luciano Pavarotti.
If you are Italian its your kind of music real skills talents and efforts to able to sing like that are deeply appreciated just classic music at its very best one of the best and favorite vocalists ever god bless you guys thanks great job people you should be amazed and proud love you guys thanks keep on singing job well done !! I seriously doubt having an aria where a villain and libertine tells what he thinks about women would be an appropriate national anthem. Now, "Va pensiero" from Nabucco was actually a candidate at one time, I believe.
TheEarlOfRitchester It'd be interesting, but I suspect some Italians will find identification with an opera villain objectionable, not when there are so many beautiful arias sung by "heroes" available. BTW, "Va Pensiero" was actually proposed by an Italian senator in 2009.
I dought that the Italians would not like this as their national anthem because this song translates to women are so fickle and are always wanting a lot
jesus salvador Yes, and in addition to it it is sung by an opera villain who seduces women and then dumps them. See the girl in the window. This girl was a virgin who was seduced (and maybe even raped - we don't know it happened behind the stage) by him. He is an absolute ruler of a province in 16th century Italy and he amuses himself by seducing virgins and married women and the fathers and husbands are helpless.
This is Ferruccio Furlanetto, he is a bass, and yes, he is wonderful. Listen to how he sings the catalog aria from Don Giovanni or Philip II's aria from Don Carlo. Both probably. A lot of people here only know Pavarotti...
@gerry zappa - got a notification in the mail and notification area about your question, but don't see it here. If you haven't deleted it, but it was a YT issue, it's difficult to say, many people performed Mozart requiem, I've no idea if Ferruccio Furlanetto has ever performed it or not.

The non-italian listeners are probably missing the most valuable part of the song, the lyrics: it's a lesson of life that every man should learn from .
