The female swimmers should’ve protested by remaining on the starting blocks while Thomas swam by himself in the water during a race. Would be a powerful image that would go viral quickly and point out the obvious danger to women’s sports.

It makes no sense how this whole thing was allowed to happen did no one ever consider that this was just another way to keep women down. I really hope that her speaking out about this very wrong situation repairs the damage that's been done to women's sports.

Ive got a three year old daughter and im glad there are still women to look up to like Riley and Sage who speak up and take all that comes with that when so many women do not and frankly defend these pedos and creeps who are literally are taking their spots and erasing women's rights and sports.

It is extremely frustrating that this has been allowed to continue for this long. It also heard that in all of the many hearings that have happened across this country, no politician, asked the question: why was spaces and sports separated by male bodies and female bodies?

Unpopular opinion although it feels like common sense. I believe that if we are allowing this nonsense in society then we can’t draw a line at athletics, restrooms, and prisons. It’s crazy that people will speak up as soon as it affects them. Before I say this, I am not a father but from the outside all of this seems like it targets mother's, women, and children. I remember when I was younger and kids were confused or were a tom boy or girl it was just part of childhood and it was part of figuring yourself out not injecting drugs into their system. There has been irreversible damage over the years to some children and some families due to leading them down the wrong path. I hope more people take a stand and just let people live their life and not let kids be taught something to confuse them only to be drugged later and later they regret it which will spike depression and I'm sure other outcomes.

Despite any of the politics or morality, isnt it by definition selfish to put one persons needs over the needs of 100s of others? That alone is an/ the issue. Just one person's gain and all of these others were made to feel deeply uncomfortable.

It is such a shame that in an effort to uphold the rights of a maeginalised portion of the population, that the rights of another portion of the population have been sacrificed causing marginalisation to them. For context I am a gay male in my late 40s. I have trans workmates and friends. As I am not trans myself I am hesitant to speak on their behalf or claim to understand their plight. But I see how important pronouns are to them so I make sure to refer to them in their chosen terms. Outside of that I treat them no differently to how I treat all my other work colleagues and friends- with common decency and respect- and affection for my friends. On this issue I make the following observations: the women's rights and feelings were not taken into consideration whatsoever and as a result of the changing room arrangements their feelings were unjustly ignored. And as for the competition results - I can't see how anyone can claim an unfair advantage is there. If I try to out myself in Lia's shoes I can't help but think I would have approached things a little differently. Firstly - whilst I know the bathroom issue is a big deal for trans folks - on this one occasion, with it being a womens swimming event with a change room crowded with women who might be uncomfortable with my presence- I would ask to be chaperoned by a female official to the empty male change rooms or other private space. Secondly, with the trophy situation, I would have shown some courtesy and let Riley have it- and maybe even stated that I not be recorded as the winner of the race and find enough personal reward that I had swam the fastest in that race. I know that some trans folks might state they shouldn't have to make compromises and concessions but sometimes changes to society need to be made in a much more nuanced way. And if Lia condicted herself with a little more humility and in a little more considerate manner she might have won over the affection and respect of her female competitors and made allies of them.

But did anything actually happen? Was it the attendance of the dude girl? What would be the uncomfortable part? If he is sexually interested in the girls? Or just having the balls? Where should gay men or lesbians be allowed? Or is it about the avarage physical disadvantage, so you might not be able to defend yourself in a locker room? So is it just being in the same locker room and having different genetics (gender for example) or is it the phycological aspect (desire, ...) gets confusing, but what is the actual problem that causes the discomfort and embarrassment?

Why do you keep calling Leah Thomas "he" and say she is "delusional" and a man? That is completely disrespectful, as Leah is transgender male to female, living in the female gender. The correct pronouns are she/her. You don't have to agree with transgender participation in sports, but at least have some manners and respect other people's gender choice. This kind of transphobia is unsportsmanlike and divisive. Educate yourself and do better.
