I've been thinking about it lately, and it's amazing how TNS has remained a beloved show for over a decade since its instant success! Many of those now working on the series owe its continued success to your contributions from the beginning and your appearances throughout the later seasons.
I wish they kept Michelle and Riley’s friendship going more. it was only when Riley was single (in s1 and s4) that they had screentime. I understand like jiley was Riley’s main story time but still
@@fernandateixeira6970 S4 is complicated. In parts of that season, Riley is single, parts with James, parts with another guy. That person meant that WHEN Riley was single, she spent more time with Michelle. Riley and James are still dating and are living together in NYC now.
that's something I noticed so much while rewatching, I remembered them as best friends but they are not, they just had a couple moments and then they become besties on season 4 bc they're pretty much the only og left
I know you made it clear how awkward it is to watch your younger self act. I’m sure anyone else would feel the same way but honestly you literally carried the show. Riley was easily the best character and it makes me so happy that you’ve gone back to season 1, where it all began! ❤
From what I remember each dance studio was supposed to have 10 dancers plus 2 alternates so 12 in total but for most of the competitions TNS went to they never had any alternates for one reason or another.

Thank youuu!!! 🎉🎉 I love all your reaction videos but the ones where you react to yourself, they're so interesting! There's the nostalgic factor, of course, but there's also the deeper element of hearing what it was like creating the work from someone involved. It's that deeper element that makes these my favorite. I remember watching season 01 when it first aired on Hulu back when it was still free and you didn't need an account lol. Everyone in the show was around my age and I didn't know it was scripted lol, remember feeling so confused about the talking heads vs what was on screen (example being Stephanie throwing the dance captain audition dance, like why would you reveal that lol). You were also my favorite character because I saw a lot of myself in Riley. A bit awkward and shy, nervous about taking risks, follows directions, very anxious lol. All that to say that TNS, particuarly the early seasons, became a comfort show for me and you were a comfort character. While your reactions to other seasons are great, these are just really special.

It’s always nice to take a throwback to the past every now and then with these reactions! Season 1 of TNS is always a great nostalgia trip! This episode sets up pretty much everything that’s to come in the second half of the season and that scene with Riley and Emily at the end was just heartbreaking. Riley lost the trust of her big sister and she feels at fault for that because she was pushing so hard for Michelle to be dance captain not knowing what that would do to her relationship with Emily. She’s broken and now she needs to find a way to pick up the pieces and put herself back together again but how do you heal a rift that feels impossible to mend?
I know it is very private question, and of course you don't have to answer to it. But did something specific happend between you and Trevor, or you just lost contact? Cause as I am watching your tours vidoes, TNS behind the scenes and all of that stuff, you seemed to have a lot of fun together. By the way, great to see you back. I hope in the future you will make this kind of reactions to season 2 and 3 too, after you finish this one.
I definitely had a lot of fun with Trevor during our time on TNS. Like a lot of the other cast members, we ended up going out separate ways after the show 🤷

I absolutely LOVED TNS growing up but as a child who was watching it as it was coming out, I completely understand why splitting the E girls/lightening the tone was a choice that was made. As much as I loved the drama, I remember my Mum hating me watching it because she thought it was too bitchy! 😂

It’s so surreal seeing The Next Step in general again, that show has been a core memory for me when I was in grade four and I love getting to rewatch this through a reaction from the actress playing arguably the main character for the first four seasons of the show Also I love getting to hear your anecdotes from there, it’s fascinating to learn about what goes on behind the scenes

Depending on where you live, I'm in the UK and as long as you have a tv licence all seasons are on BBC iPlayer. Don't watch if you don't have a TV license though that's fraud! If you're under 18 ask a parent if they own a TV license

I’ve been wondering this for ages and I wanted to know if you guys talked abt this whilst filming. When Miss Kate picked Amanda to go to Sweden, could she have said no or would she have been kicked off the team?? I mean they couldn’t force her to go right?
I actually really liked a lot of the plot lines and the “mean” behaviour of the characters in the first season. A lot of my own experiences with dance unfortunately did have a lot of similar behaviours and that unfortunately made fall out of love with dancing. I really loved watching the first season when it aired in Australia bc I was still dealing with a lot of the affects that dance politics had on my mental health and I found watching TNS really did help bc I related to the characters and in a way it helped me fall back in love with dance. 🥰
Season 1,2 and 3 of the Next Step is what I would be seeing the most because the later seasons are not the same without the old characters and they’re leaving
Loved your acting in the ending with Emily it felt really real I remember how I felt watching that scene when it first came out. For once though the adult interferes when Chris came over to you but they didn’t even let us hear what he said!!!!! Soo happy you’re back to these videos thank you

Something that I always found a bit unsettling about the first season was how looked over Emily's mental health was. Like, the girl was going THROUGH IT. She was immediately presented as someone who fuels on praise, attention, and control, and in the span of a couple of episodes she lost it all. She had to first, accept what happened, then absolutely crush her own ego to the point where she was willing to admit to herself and others that she actually wasn't as good as she thought. Then, she had to accept her way smaller role in the team and lastly, learned to listen to someone else's leadership. I'm not a huge Emily fan but the stuff she went through in season 1 is not talked about enough
Where you mention at 16 mins regarding how it's filmed. Its changed so much! The earlier seasons were way more realistic with the 'messy' shots and they show way more dancing than they do now 😭
There wasn’t necessarily an episode where it was explained but regionals only had the large group dances this season for 10 dancers which is why James being pulled was an issue

I have a question! What scene from TNS was the hardest one for you to film? Also, when you have to cry in a scene, how do you do that? Because I feel like you had a lot of those type of scenes. I always thought you were really good at executing them and make it look very real. Especially in S4!

The version originally aired in the UK was edited slightly differently than the original. There was (and still are) certain parts cut out that don't exist in the BBC version, but do exist in the Netflix version, essentially anything risky or less family friendly is cut. Havung seen the BBC version hundreds of times, I was very confused when I watched the Netflix version, as it had 'unseen' footage. (Eg some of what the e-girls say is cut, Eldon and Emily's kiss, and riley and james' kiss on their date too)
