I love how even though the emotions don't age physically, they still age mentally like Riley does. When they see the dad do the airplane, they respond just like a toddler would in that moment. Love details like that.

Joy does realize that babies need to cry in order to tell their parents that they’re hungry, need a diaper change, or is sick.

I seriously LOVE the idea they present here as an infant’s mental control board as one single button. Their minds are so undeveloped and thus don’t have the capacity to do a whole lot other than laugh and cry to express their needs and emotions. Imo this is extremely helpful to keep in mind when dealing with a baby so that you don’t lose patience with them so quickly.

In the beginning there was nothing, nothing but emptiness, barrenness, the silence of an infinite darkness. There was no life then, only Love. Then the Voice of Love spoke to the emptiness and said "live!" and life was. Then the formless life began to take on substance and shape, and shape formed upon shape. The bones began to harden and become solid, and a skeleton formed in order to hold the body together. Shape formed upon shape. This is what happened in the fourth month. Then a sense of touch began to develop, and the Voice of Love gave the growing baby an awareness of the outside world and also of itself. The eyebrows also began to form and eyelids opened and closed over blind eyes. It was then that the sense of taste began to form upon the tongue as multitudes of taste buds took shape. This all happened in the fifth month. The skin began to smooth out and layers of fat began to cover the dimensions of the baby. The eyes opened and saw for the first time. All of this happened in the six-month. The brain of the baby began to grow and shape into a sophisticated thinking network. Vital connections were made and soon the mind of the child filled with dreams. Memories that are no more, ideas and thoughts born of a creative spirit, residue from the Voice of Love. And there were dreams, and there were ideas, a seventh month came to an end. Now the infant was full of life, and the Voice of Love began to fill the baby’s lungs with the breath of life, which resides in all things. This is what happened in the eighth month. Everything was good, everything was perfect. Innocent, pure and unspoiled. Now the child was finally ready to leave the dark space that had been its home for the past nine months. Finally ready to go into the light. And this was a blessed time. For the first time the small human being discovered family, community and identity. And the Voice of Love looked at the child. The jewel in the hands of the woman called mother and a treasure in the eyes of the man called father. And behold, the Voice of Love saw that it was very good.

With Inside Out 2 introducing Embarrassment, the film could flash back to this scene, with Fear and Embarrassment bonding, if Riley were to come out as trans. It would flash back to this scene because, similarly to Reilly’s actual birth, Reilly’s coming out is somewhat of a rebirth, finally getting to live the life they always wanted for themselves. As for the emotions the scene would feature 2 emotions, one new and one old. Embarrassment on how they see themselves and Fear of what their parents mights say. While this is happening you can see Fear and Embarrassment looking at each other and holding hands, the one moment, in the whole film, when Embarrassment is not bouncing off the walls. By the way I am a trans woman and a lesbian. With the political and social climate being the way that it is, I cry every time I read a horror story, Brianna Ghey, Jasmine "Star" Mack, Maria Jose Rivera Rivera, Zachee Imanitwitaho, Ashley Burton, Tasiyah “Siyah” Woodland, Koko Da Doll/Rasheeda Williams and Chanell Perez Ortiz, about the violence against trans women and I can’t take it anymore. I would love to see a trans woman portrayed with love and respect. We got it on TV with Quantum Leap (2023) Season 1, EP 12, “Let Them Play”, Dead Like Me Season 2, EP 4, “The Shallow End”, Midnight Dinner: Tokyo Stories EP 1, “Tan Min” and we got it, finally, in film this year with Trace Lysette and her Oscar worthy performance in Monica. That being said we never got it in an animated film. I would love to see Pixar pull the trigger and do it. Disney has had, to my knowledge, at lease 2 trans men characters, that I know of, and yet no trans women characters. People would love to see people like them on screen, especially if Reilly is gonna be a teen in middle school and or starting high school. Trans kids, out or closeted, look to films, tv, video games, books or music to find something that lets them know that they are worth it and are loved, no matter what. Also with Pixar handling Reilly’s story with such love and respect, in Inside Out 1, I think it is time.
