I took a short hike on the Rim Rock Trail in Shawnee National Forest. This trail stayed along the rim of the canyon. There was another trail the appeared to descend to the river, but I did not take it. It was hot, and somewhat muggy, so we opted for the shorter route that required less exertion.
This trail was nice. It was a stone path with a small section that was a wooden platform. The second half of the trail (we headed left at the fork) contains low steps.
Definitely an enjoyable hike, but not the best one in the area.
