Great video thankyou. I'm looking to get some rimblades. Can you tell me if they will also protect a plasti dipped wheel when changing a tyre? Or would you have to remove the rimblade first? Many thanks
Hi. Can you advise what rimblade I need. I have a Mercedes A35. It has slightly square rims. Flat I guess you call that. I’ve ordered an originals pack, but that might be wrong. Any help would be great 😊.
Thanks for the product portfolio demo. For me it's either the Scuff Ultra or the PRO rim for a set of 19 inch AMG turbine alloys found on a handful of Merc's though for me specifically, a 2016 CLS W218. What shall I go for @rimblades? Ultra or Pro? I'd say the rim edges on my wheels are 'flat' so PRO may do the job , but I'm veering In the direction of ULTRA because the lip edge. It can be tucked round the corners of the alloy providing a bridge between the tyre and alloy itself... ...I may have answered my own question! Cheers
How long can rimguards stay on a wheel without peeling off when applied correctly. I have some already curbed wheels and would like to use these to hide them. I will sand down the curbed sections to create a smooth enough surface for the sticky tape to stick to strongly.
That is a good question. Longest we've known is 10 years, but plenty of customers have had them fitted 5 to 7 years, but depends how much car is used and how often tyres changed. They should last lifetime of tyres if properly fitted on a sound surface well prepared surface.
I have a couple of questions. Firstly does this interfere with tyre fitting? Secondly how are they removed when it comes time to replace the strips or sell the car?
Hi Richard. Those are valid points. Best practice is to install a new Rimblades when a tyre is changed. A tyre can be changed with them in place, but this is dependant on the skill of the tyre fitter. However if they break the seal, it could result in a failure after, so to prevent this happening we say best practice is to change for a new Rimblades. We do sell single wheel kits if for example you get a puncture (or kerb 1) and a cleaner to get the old tape off really easily as if it were never there.
Hi I have an alfa romeo spider 19 inch rims curve edged I have tried some of the cheaper trims they won't stick the rim comes off What do you suggest I use? Thanks James
thanks it's very good comparison and explains differences, but I think you changed your offering since. I can't see Scuff option any longer and there's Rimblades Ultra that look similar. However you seems to position them differently also, as it appears Rimsavers have High protection whereas Originals and Ultra just Good - so which one is better then?
Hi Zoe Zebra. This video is quite old now. Everything has been improved, retooled and updated since this. We do still use our Scuffs brand for exports to Europe as the box is multi language printed, but you are correct Rimblades Ultra is now the same profile, but we now make it from a harder & stronger grade of Santopene. Rimblades Flex is now Rimblades Original. Trims4Rims is now Rimblades Light, but again much higher quality than back then. Rimsavers are only mildly updated since that video, but due for a major update this year. Danny Dog!!
@@Rimblades Do you have a time estimate for the Rimsavers update? I have flat wheels. Should I order the Rimblades Ultra or wait for the Rimsavers update? Not sure if the Rimblades Ultra will fit.
@@dweawyn Rimblades Ultra & Rimsavers both require a flat mounting surface so if one will fit so will the other. No exact timings yet on the new Rimsavers. Trying to get the production tooling sorted at present, so be at least 8 weeks.
We get really mixed results on ceramic coated rims. Some customers get no issues whilst others can't get a bond. We suggest cleaning off the coating for a width of 6mm on rim edge to ensure a good fit if using our stick on products, but we also do a pro install tyre trap version depending on rim size at www.rimfinity.co.uk
@@loutube99able Thanks. The 17" JCW Track Spoke rims have a very small fitting area for the stick on style products, so we'd recommend our top of the range pro fit product called Rimfinity. See www.rimfinity.co.uk
Depends if you mean Plasti dip from a can that you spray on yourself (it will pull this off) or properly powered coated wheels, which will be fine. Thanks
@@Rimblades its plastic dip from a can should i just cut around the dip with a blade so the rim protector goes to the actual alloy insted my dipped wheels are soild dip from the can if that makes sense
@@parmindersidhu9690 Yes would need to bond to a sound surface. With plastic dip & home painted rims, the Rimblades will bond to the paint, but if paint not properly bonded to rim surface it will let go and come off.
HELP ----- One of mine came off so I decided to replace all 4........ in heavens name how on earth do you get the old sticky, solid glue off the alloys before putting the new ones on ??????
@@Rimblades yes thank you so much I just got them in and don't know how to return them here's my email address can you send me the info on how to return cjonesforever@gmail.com
We use a 3M adhesion adhesion promoter with the VHB tape to greatly increase the tape bond, but the wheel does need to be cleaned properly prior to fitting. If instructions are followed they will bond very well.
This video is a bit out of date now. Trims4Rims been replaced by Rimblades Light. Rimblades Flex replaced by Rimblades Original. We have more videos on our website www.rimblades.com
Just had my 16" Golf wheels refurbished at £150/wheel and have tnow hought how can I prevent any new corrosion after scuffs have been looking on RU-vid etc. Do Rimblades offer corrosion protection, ie water ingress behind the plastic protector? I watched this video and the conclusion was that corrosion appeared using alloygator protectectors after about 12 months. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y1wDZF_qKxs.html Would appreciate your view on protectors re corrosion, thanks.
