Tested and approved by Millbrook, Rimblades are designed by - and for - the car enthusiast. For drivers who are looking for great wheel protection, but who also want to enhance the aesthetics and performance of their vehicle.
Yea I should’ve installed these on my model 3 20” dumb fuck rim design that the wheel sticks out past the tire. Even after I bought these I procrastinated and after last night at Jack in box drive through and more curb rash am I installing as we speak
Ive bought these after scuffing one of my alloys slightly while driving my new car home after picking it up last week 😢 went too close to a curb. The alloys are so beautiful too . Things happen i guess so i searched to see what i could get to protect them and i was originally going to get an alloy repair kit but a guy suggested it would be easier getting these so ive bought these after reading the feedback from other buyers. This video was short and to the point and i feel confident i can do this . I stuck with black as i wont be able to see them anyway 😅. My cars going to need washed . Im aware putting these on a dry day is the way to go . Am i ok to wash my car first but not put any product on my alloys or am i bedt to put rims on and wash car in day or 2 afterwards? X
Wash & dry wheels first. If tyre shine present remove this then use wipes in kit. If you contact me direct I'll send you a sheet with detailed instructions.
They work perfectly on diamond cut wheels as long as they have a squared off top edge. If they have a rounded top edge, Rimblades Original a better fit. The adhesive will not remove factory standard, good quality or properly refurbished wheels. We don't suggest fitting on DIY paint jobs where paint not baked.
These use a 3M VHB double side tape & 3M adhesion promoter so super glue not required, but we do include an extra glue if you buy the kit option with the joint cap cover.
They are 7mm wide. Alot of customers buy black to cover the polished lip on the AMG wheels. If you have the newer AMG wheels though with a rounded off top edge you need our Rimblades Original version.
HELP ----- One of mine came off so I decided to replace all 4........ in heavens name how on earth do you get the old sticky, solid glue off the alloys before putting the new ones on ??????
Ive seen videos of other people installing these and they dont use the clips. Then i see the actual company that make them. Hence, you. And you're not using them either. Do I need them or not? That was my whole purpose for the videos I'm watching because i dont want to screw it up.. And yet, no one uses them. Not even you.
This video was filmed over an ago before we launched the joint cover kit for Rimblades Ultra. We will soon be updating our video content. If you have any questions please contact us direct.
Hi John. Sorry to hear that. I can't find an order from you in our order system. Was it this product you bought? We do warranty genuine Rimblades products.
thanks it's very good comparison and explains differences, but I think you changed your offering since. I can't see Scuff option any longer and there's Rimblades Ultra that look similar. However you seems to position them differently also, as it appears Rimsavers have High protection whereas Originals and Ultra just Good - so which one is better then?
Hi Zoe Zebra. This video is quite old now. Everything has been improved, retooled and updated since this. We do still use our Scuffs brand for exports to Europe as the box is multi language printed, but you are correct Rimblades Ultra is now the same profile, but we now make it from a harder & stronger grade of Santopene. Rimblades Flex is now Rimblades Original. Trims4Rims is now Rimblades Light, but again much higher quality than back then. Rimsavers are only mildly updated since that video, but due for a major update this year. Danny Dog!!
@@Rimblades Do you have a time estimate for the Rimsavers update? I have flat wheels. Should I order the Rimblades Ultra or wait for the Rimsavers update? Not sure if the Rimblades Ultra will fit.
@@dweawyn Rimblades Ultra & Rimsavers both require a flat mounting surface so if one will fit so will the other. No exact timings yet on the new Rimsavers. Trying to get the production tooling sorted at present, so be at least 8 weeks.
Best practice is to install a new Rimblades when a tyre is changed. A tyre can be changed with them in place, but this is dependant on the skill of the tyre fitter. However if they break the seal, it could result in a failure after, so to prevent this happening we say best practice is to change for a new Rimblades. We do sell single wheel kits if for example you get a puncture (or kerb 1) and a cleaner to get the old tape off really easily.
Thanks Steve. Key is to have the rim surface contaminant free. Everything we use in the kits is 3M, so as long as the wheel is clean, dry and free of silicone you'll be fine. If they ever won't bond the problem 99% of the time is silicone overspray from tyre shine. We do sell a tyre shine/silicone remover to overcome this.
Yes if properly fitted no issues. However if it is the type with guard rails and you hit the guard rails likewise with a kerb they may need to be replaced.
@@CR7Update We suggest that is best practice in case the tire fitter accidentally breaks the 3M bond causing a later highway failure. We do our own cleaner to get the old adhesive off easily, so it's a quick and straightforward job.
Yes they can. The rim surface needs to be dry & contaminant free though. We suggest a hot air gun (or hairdryer) to ensure surface is free of moisture.
In your opinion, what color stripes would look best with a White Subaru WRX Car with dark Bronze Rims? What stripe size should I get? Because my rims sticks out.
thanks the product is totally Awesome, I got the Metallic Silver ones ! Here's my tute ! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LSwfWq-DKHc.html
How long can rimguards stay on a wheel without peeling off when applied correctly. I have some already curbed wheels and would like to use these to hide them. I will sand down the curbed sections to create a smooth enough surface for the sticky tape to stick to strongly.
That is a good question. Longest we've known is 10 years, but plenty of customers have had them fitted 5 to 7 years, but depends how much car is used and how often tyres changed. They should last lifetime of tyres if properly fitted on a sound surface well prepared surface.
This video is a bit out of date now. Trims4Rims been replaced by Rimblades Light. Rimblades Flex replaced by Rimblades Original. We have more videos on our website www.rimblades.com
There is not as you can make the join invisible, but due to popular demand we have just had the first delivery of joint covers for the curved profile. These will be going live on our Website this week by Friday.
Hi David. Our kits include the 3M adhesion promoter as standard. Did you buy a genuine product or a Chinese copy that often don't come with it as its too expensive and they just then fall off? We sell the primer packs here: rimblades.com/collections/rimblades-spare-shop/products/primer-pack
I have a couple of questions. Firstly does this interfere with tyre fitting? Secondly how are they removed when it comes time to replace the strips or sell the car?
Hi Richard. Those are valid points. Best practice is to install a new Rimblades when a tyre is changed. A tyre can be changed with them in place, but this is dependant on the skill of the tyre fitter. However if they break the seal, it could result in a failure after, so to prevent this happening we say best practice is to change for a new Rimblades. We do sell single wheel kits if for example you get a puncture (or kerb 1) and a cleaner to get the old tape off really easily as if it were never there.
which side is preferable on the alloy face the long side or the short side? Not sure which gives better protection, i could apply my rimblades light either way
@@Rimblades will it provide no protection the other way around as I've done that. There weren't any instructions as to to which way to do it (long or short sides). The inside face of the alloy was quite deep so thought it could be that way.
@@paulcoughlan5619 The guide lip will not provide as much protection. The key issue is the bond as it's more difficult to get the area between the rim & tyre contaminant free compared to the face of the wheel. See how you go. Let me know if you have an issue.
We get really mixed results on ceramic coated rims. Some customers get no issues whilst others can't get a bond. We suggest cleaning off the coating for a width of 6mm on rim edge to ensure a good fit if using our stick on products, but we also do a pro install tyre trap version depending on rim size at www.rimfinity.co.uk
