How incredibly rude of the consultant to look at you, and say it’s not doing anything for your skin. Imagine if they said that to someone who went in to look and couldn’t afford the mac stuff, or already had very low self confidence. I get that they are trying to sell stuff but that attitude is incredibly offputting. Worth a complaint to mac TBH.

Agreed. I would be very upset if they said this to me, especially if I was an older lady.

First thing I picked up on in this video. Agreed. Even if she was asking about what type to buy, making it clear she was making a purchase for comparison, it’s a very impolite thing to say and it’s put me off shopping in mac stores.

@@AimeeGoldspinkI’m 29, have Asperger’s and can be v sensitive, and I would be incredibly upset. What seems a throwaway comment for a store assistant could be very hurtful. A good way to say the same sort of thing would be ‘and would you like to try one to see if it works even better for you? I could help with your shade if you would like , or just find one similar to your rimmel powder if you want to do a straight comparison and are happy with the shade, you might find you like the mac powder and it might suit you even more 😜 we have a valid returns policy for 30 days” There’s a difference between being funny/cheeky like above and insulting folk.

I agree it was rude. If I knew what I know now (that the Rimmel is so similar) , I don't think I would have purchased the Mac. Often times, I find that the staff at cosmetics counters need some training in Diplomacy 101. Many years ago, I returned a foundation to Mac because it amplified my pores. The consultant basically said "well that's because your skin is bad" , or words to that effect. His comment has stayed with me ever since .

Lovely video Sue. On the topic of sal s consultants, I felt very put upon today in Sephora. The person was nice and very knowledgeable but I just wanted to look at tons of things and take my time and see what was new in general. I felt super pressured to justify my presence and she followed me around and got in my space until I left. I might have decided to spend 300 plus euros on a night cream - yeah right - but she’ll never know now ;)

It's a fine line, isn't it? I always wanted to be a cosmetic sales consultant because I just know how I would want to be treated. Give the customer space, compliment them ALWAYS, while remaining authentic. You catch more bees with 🍯

Thank you for doing this video! I've had many experiences of going into a Mac store and them telling me or treating me like I don't know what I'm doing with makeup. It's a very weird experience. They do have some great products though. Could you next do a video about the Clinique blushes? My God they are so good! Their bronzer is really good too!

I had “a feel” of the Rimmel compact today. That compact would be the perfect size for on the go! Fits into a handbag makeup bag without weighing it down or into a tiny evening clutch. All the high end foundation compacts look too big and clunky!

It's definitely more streamlined than the Mac one. I agree, high end packaging is often bulky.

The Rimmel is a little lighter than your neck. Mac blends in better but you can use the Rimmel around eyes and on chin...bit of a highlighter, being lighter in colour. Thanks for your video! Oh, talc in either?

Hi Heather. Yes, there is talc in both. It's the first ingredient in the Mac, and the second ingredient in the Rimmel. Mac also contains silica and Rimmel contains mica.

@@Fifty-sense have you tried the Jane Iredale? I'm 55 and don't wear foundation, BUT, am starting to get bits of filler here and there and I bruised like CRAZY so I'll definitely need something in the future. I bought the mac last week but only because Ulta didn't have the JI....the reviews on her line especially for mature skin is outstanding??

Hello. Mica is not shimmery to my knowledge. It's similar to talc. There's no shimmer in the foundation x

I understand what the sales person means by the Rimmel not helping you. The MAC showed an instant difference. The Rimmel isn't bad at all, just on the cool side. If you have disposal income or want to invest in your makeup, then go with the MAC foundation.
