Welcome to my channel! My channel is dedicated to women in their forties and beyond where we can share tips on skincare, haircare and makeup! I have a diploma in makeup artistry so I do know the right side of a makeup brush ;) - and love to share tips and tricks that I have learned over the years.
I want to celebrate getting older. And I also want to do the best that I can for my skin here and now. I love makeup unashamedly. I love its power to transform and bring back confidence in women, especially mature ladies over forty (and beyond). As we mature, we have many things to deal with - our skin's texture and its needs are not the same as they were ten or even 5 years ago. RU-vid is where I have found community and space to share these kinds of topics.
That’s a very nice look. I have the same bronzer but never use it. My skin is very pale and I feel it doesn’t look good with the bronzer. That Lancôme blusher looks very pretty
❤️❤️, Hey Sue,I struggle with mascara smudging on my lids.I recently bought the new maybeline waterproof mascara in a light pink metalic packaging I also try putting powder ,I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong Any ideas? 🥰🥰
I wonder if the Cliniques sweethearts palatte number 4 is a dupe for MAC Sable? It’s a very unique color and one of the few brown/lavender mix shades I can use as a crease shade that add definition instead of making my eye look smaller.
Hello thank you so much! This video came up in my feed as I have been researching a lot on cool tones advice and I am so glad I found you - I immediately subscribed! You look absolutely stunning and thank you so much for wearing so many of the shades you recommended. You were also lit beautifully. I have not worn any Mac shades but I will be immediately ordering many now and will be eagerly viewing your other videos. I am also subscribed to Justine Leconte - she is fantastic. With many many thanks from Australia x
Hi Joanne. Thank you for such a lovely comment. I am a huge Mac fan. It's one of the few big brands that we get in SA. I also watch Justine! She is amazing! 😊😍
I’m currently using Avene PhysioLift, as I’ve been noticing my once angular jaw line is now a bit rectangular. My skin does feel a bit tighter after applying it, but it hasn’t helped my face lift of the ground. The packaging is attractive, however I don’t like products that come in pots with spatulas. It’s too much to deal with late at night when I’m tired. I’d like to compare the product and price with a Shiseido product called “Vital Perfection Uplifting and Firming Cream”, as I remember trying a sample and being blown away by it! Would definitely purchase again Avene Trixera Face and body. Blown away by that product! Also had good luck with Avene exfoliating gel - it removed an old acne scar from my youth!
Shiseido is amazing and I would trust anything from their line. Sadly I haven't found anything topical to help my sagging. It's a real pain. If you do find something, let me know xx
Picked up a couple of samples at the Shiseido store today. The lady urged me to try the new, concentrated version. The moment the product touched my hand I could feel a tightening sensation. I actually like the Avene packaging more. The Shiseido one looks very plastic. I’ve heard the only non surgical solution to sagging is living a life from an early age with no stress and to live a lifestyle that is 100% clean. No wine, no chocolate, no pasta, no late nights, 9 hours sleep per day - basically a boring one!
Always enjoy your videos! A while back I caught one where you used the Mac blush Harmony paired with Warm Soul. It looks lovely on you, but I have white hair and I was afraid it was going to really drab me out, but it has become my brand new favorite! I never would have guessed it, but I’m glad I tried. It’s such a great basic. I was going to give the harmony away to my daughter because I thought it was going to be lifeless on me. Just the opposite! And I like it so much better than bronzer. Thanks for the tip!
I'm so happy you like it! I just can't put it down! It is so deceiving in the pan but I think it adds such sophistication, without being loud. It really makes one look polished, beautiful for us mature ladies xx
Sue: HELP!! I'm very fair, pale skin with cool pink undertones. Even with blush, in photos, I look like Casper the Ghost. I can't make contour or bronzer work for me. Any suggestions? Your finished look is lovely. I can't afford MAC, though. 😕
I would skip the contour and use a tiny bit of cream blush. Essence has some new ones out, a pink and a peach. They are highly pigmented but blend out beautifully. You would only need a tiny bit x
I’m pale, too. Bronzers can make me look like I went out into the garden and put dirt on my cheeks. It’s too overpowering, yet rusty eyeshadows really work on me.
Love this bronze look on you. Very flattering on you. The sable eyeshadow really is a stunner and I think it would look fantastic with my hazel eyes. I need to see it in person at my local Mac store. Have a wonderful weekend.
Love this quick and easy look, thank you. I do however have one question - I have a very deep mental crease and no matter what I do, my foundation or even tinted moisturizer settles in this crease. I have googled and watched videos and I've tried every trick there is, but nothing works. Do you have any tips and/or advice?
@@Fifty-sense thank you, but I've tried that. I've even tried eye shadow primer. The LA Girl one is matte - I've also tried patting setting spray into the crease as well before i apply my foundation. Thank you for your reply though, much appreciated.
Looks nice when it’s all done. I don’t have many Mac products just the painterly eye primer and naked lunch eyeshadow which I like. I don’t like really dark eyeshadow as my eyes are hooded. I’m interested in the blush but I’m currently using a Stila cream stick one I have dry skin and the powder ones might not suit me
Hi Sue most of the items I repurchased over the years are sadly discontinued 😢. I still repurchase regularly the Benefit gimme brow in shade one as being pale it’s really difficult to get a good shade match. This isn’t yellow on the skin or dark and is the best match I have found. I do get my brows threaded and I tint them myself, so the fibre coloured gel is usually all I use in my brows (I didn’t pluck them to death in the nineties as my mum did that in the sixties and was a cautionary tale- they didn’t grow back). Rimmel lipliner in east end snob has been in my makeup bag for years and repurchased many times. Laura Gellor balance n brighten in porcelain- I bought it for years, but lately it’s not looking great on my skin and I think it’s just because I am getting older. It was always my touch up powder when any redness broke through, but it now looks dry on my skin. I have bought several over the years however. Some of the items I bought many times but are gone forever are: Lancome teint idole in shade 008 - now reformulated and my shade was discontinued. I bought it many times over the years before that happened. Bobbi Brown alabaster extra repair skin tint - now discontinued Prescriptives foundation- sadly a brand that no longer exists Clarins lipstick in lilac pink - I bought at least three times before they discontinued it. Bare minerals lipstick in Bavarian pink - so sadly discontinued as I bought it over and over. Best wishes x
Hi Loraine. Wow. Lots of discontinued stuff. I find that once favourites are discontinued, I never really seem to find a HG replacement. I'm not sure if that's just me? You certainly have seen your fair share!
@@Fifty-sense I know. It’s probably because shades I love are not going to suit the majority of people. I’m extremely cool toned and pale, so I am in a tiny minority corner of the market. X
Thanks for sharing. As I am a similar colour to you -same shades you use - try get hold of Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk original lipstick and lip liner. Even try 1 shade up in lipliner as the lipstick looks so good with both -it seriously matches everyone and I've purchased multiple ones - it would look stunning on you!
I have heavenly luxe brush from It cosmetics that I use a lot but it has recently started to shed hair 😢 It’s about 4 years old. I think it is the washing although I am careful how I wash my brushes.
@@maryrose7842 exactly! That's why I say that all these high end brands are exhorbitantly over priced. Any thing over $15, and you're just paying for the name.
I do like your EA lipstick 💄 I go through a lot of high end foundation powder compacts. They’re just easy and fast. My most repurchased makeup product was Oh La Lift by Benefit. It was multi functional. Would keep it in the refrigerator! Could use it to sooth and depuff the eye area, deflect light, highlight and conceal. Still searching for a replacement - it became part of my identity 😔
I’ve been on quite an adventure with Oh La La lift. Someone thought I’d had a little bit of something cosmetically done while I was using it. Someone told me if I transferred cash to their bank account they would send it me. I’m just going to have to go on a search for the next best thing!
The drugstore mascara I've used exclusively for long over 10 years is Maybelline The Colassal Waterproof in Classic Black. It lasts like nothing else, helps hold a curl, and adds length with easy layering. Great stuff!
I love your channel - everytime I watch one of your new videos I buy something new from Mac LOL - although I already have too much makeup!.. Quarry is one of my all time favorite Mac eyeshadows - but I thought it was discontinued! If we can still get it please let me know where! I repurchase these two things: Hourglass blush in Ethereal Glow (I am fair with cool undertones) and Mac Lip liner in Half Red - which is an amazing shade. I might have to get a new lipstick 🙂 I really like Rum Raisin too!
Thank you Hanna! Im sorry you can't seem to find Quarry . It may be discontinued in some markets. Mac does that sometimes. I also have Half Red and it goes with so many lipsticks!
The Chanel reformulations ... sigh. Their products have been fail safe til recently. It is so disappointing we don't get told they change things. Given how much they charge, I think it a consumer right to know before purchase. Edit to add: Chanel lip liner in Rose Naturel. My go-to colour for most my lipsticks.
Thanks Kate for the heads up about the Chanel liner. And yes, I agree, they should be more transparent about changes in their formulations. Some products I believe, now only have a 6 month shelf life. If I'm spending that kind of money, I want to use the product to the last drop. Which can sometimes take a year, or two or three!
Your videos are a real cheerer-upper! Thanks sooo much for putting everything together in this compact format. I'm super grateful for lipstick recommendations because once I'm under the weird lights in the store I excel at choosing light colours that make me look like a cadaver or too reds that make me look like Cruella de Ville. The confusing part for me is when the same shade comes in different finishes. I always get the too matt version that looks like stage paint. So thanks. I'm going to print out your transcript.
I feel your pain. The lights in store are very deceiving. Makeup counters should have lights that emulate daylight. I agree with your comment about Cruella de Ville😅. It's a fine line...one that shouldn't be walked alone!
Pleasure Mariana! 🌸 I also have my own brush range, specifically made for Saffers who struggle to find great quality brushes at respectable prices. Link is in the description box. Use sue15 for discount xx
I love taking my time putting on my makeup, but if I have to rush I put some foundation on with my fingers, some concealer, cream blush, a one and done eyeshadow stick, mascara (always!), and tinted brow gel. But, I rarely need to rush, thank goodness.
