Its not stated in the anime but kariya and aoi were friends in their teenage years. Kariya always liked her but aoi of course didnt return those feelings.

And yes, tokiomi is portrayed as a "good" family man in fate zero. He sold Sakura off to Matous under the assumption they would legitimately be teaching her to be a good magus not using her as a grail vessel. This is not stated in zero itself but side info materials. But of course as we know the ways of the magus can be messed up and a lot of them are not good people when viewed by normal society or good at all for a certain individuals. But being a magus doesn't make you inherently evil. The rules and conduct of mage society are just inherently different than normal society and they are hard to balance. Tokiomi is this type of typical magus who abides strictly by magus code but isn't evil or intentionally malicious. This is why rin looked up to him so much and set her life goal to become such a magus.
