DIY installing a Ring floodlight camera on my garage a step by step how to install without an existing floodlight. Thanks for watching We hope this video was helpful as well as entertaining.
Armored MC electrical cable would be the way to go. Connect it to the electrical box using a box connector, too. Also would suggest a round weatherproof electrical box on the exterior to further protect connections behind camera and have a proper ground point (didn’t look like you grounded the bracket it came with). I appreciate the humor, but doing this wrong can cause damage, fires, injuries, death, etc.
Besides not following electrical codes mentioned by Works with Zach, horrible location. The Ring website even states to mount the floodlight 9 feet from the ground so you can see the faces of people and have better motion detection. The location is too high with part of the roof blocking your driveway.
Hey this is really helpful. Can you please add in descriptions all the tools used for this DIY project. I see a white small clips nailing into wood at 3:09. I am looking for similar clips. So it would be great for your future videos to add in descriptions what tools are used and links in Amazon or Walmart or homedepot etc to buy them from. Thanks again!
Why didn’t you get flexible conduit like the other 2 coming out of that box? You cannot run raw wire into a metal box! That is a fire hazard waiting to happen.
You've made a good video, and it's entertaining. Good job. Obviously you did a little planning, but you climbed onto the roof with flip-flops. I don't even know you and I was worried about you breaking your freaking neck. Be careful! I subscribed.
Why do people who don't know what they're doing make videos to prove it. See Works with Zach comments below for what's wrong with this install, enough said.
Improper use of ladder, probably coming down was real unsafe. someone else commented on your sandals and not using conduit and romex going into box unprotected. Please remove video so no one else watches this install.
