This fight should be in everyone’s all time top 10 of the greatest world title fights on film. It’s just that good. And round 8 is a legitimate contender for the greatest round of all time, along with the likes of Hagler-Hearns round 1, Gatti-Ward round 9 and Corrales-Castillo round 10.
@@JohnyShoeShineGuy Well, I wouldn’t put round 15 of Weaver-Tate in that company myself. An unbelievably dramatic and surprising end to the fight for sure but in pure action terms, it doesn’t compare with those others.
@@TheNeorch I don't find it particularly dramatic. Foreman was completely gassed and arm-weary by the 8th and Ali was battering him. If you mean dramatic in terms of Ali regaining the title, sure.
The Light-Heavyweight division back in the 1970s and 80s was absolutely stacked. Saad Muhammad, Yaqui Lopez, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, Dwight Muhammad Qawi, Marvin Johnson, John Conteh. Wonderful time
Yep,and Michael Spinks too, light heavy and heavyweight back then was stacked, although the heavyweight is kinda dry after the 70s and is basically a wasteland in the 90s
@@TheNeorch I would say the 90s heavyweight division was pretty good in hindsight. Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Ray Mercer, Riddick Bowe, Tommy Morrison, Shannon Briggs, even older George Foreman was still entertaining. There were others like Herbie Hide, Michael Moorer and Bert Cooper who were absolute warriors. Obviously the 70s is the golden age of heavyweight champion boxing but the 90s wasn't a terrible time in my opinion. Better than the Klitschko era and better than the heavyweight division of today. It's fun watching old fights and travelling down memory lane. 🥊
@@TheNeorchnaw it's the 2000s HW era that went down hill after lewis holyfield bowe Tyson left are got too old the heavyweight division sucked after that
I don't think those fights ruined him so much as the four years of slug-fests that preceded them. All those brawls put a lot of mileage on Muhammad's odometer and at a certain point, the engine conks out.
MSM is my favorite one of the best Light Heavyweights Champs ever he was the man he could hit hard with each hand move well take a punch and had the mind and heart to keep pushing to victory from 1977 thru 1981 he was unreal
