I purchased one of these and love it. Solid piece of equipment and works great. My son-in-law lost his wedding band and my daughter asked me to make him a ring to replace it and they love the final product.
Hi Mike. What is the thread count on the Artisan shaft/brass nut? Mine has got very hard to turn the nut on/off and I think I need to clean the threads with a tap/die because a wire brush just don't help. Love this Artisan chuck!! I think I may have got some CA on the threads.
It's possible that we'll offer Ring Turning Chucks with more thread options in the future, but for now we only offer the two choices. Here's a link to our spindle adapters for a current solution. www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p/112/5837/Turners-Select-Spindle-Adapter
As of now, we only have two sizes. However we sell a spindle adapter that’ll allow the chuck to fit your lathe. Here’s a link. www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p/112/5837/Turners-Select-Spindle-Adapter
I have made about 40 wood rings and use the same method and same brand thin C A glue. Tonight after the first 10 or so coats of thin C A it was glossy as usual. I usually wait 30 minutes and cone back after it's dry to either add more coats or begin my wet sanding method. Tonight on 2 diff ri gs using a total or 4 dirt wood types on the 2 rings both with the thin C A looked like it soaked into the wood, and was a flat satin finish, no glass, I opened a new thin C A bottle and tried, no diff results its a soaked in no gloss finish...anyone what would cause this. Same methods I always use, same blue shop towels and same method...help someone
We don't do any work on metal lathes so we haven't tried it, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work. They are direct threaded in 1"-8 TPI or 1-1/4"-8 TPI so as long as you can mount that on your metal lathe it should work.
