Amazon must have spent more time planning the battles with fans than the ones in the show

When someone says things like _"We are doing so much good"_ It's like saying _"We are so intelligent"_ or _"We are so creative"_ . It immediately makes your argument invalid and makes you look like a complete narcissist.

3:14 I'm sorry but hearing one of the actors of this show call themselves an Artist is hilarious. The actor saying this literally was bragging about how excited he was to bring HIS story and HIS culture to the part. Da Vinci didn't put himself in the Mona Lisa. Heath Ledger's Joker in Dark Knight is spectacular because he took on the role, rather than forcing the role to take on "his story." Any "actor" who injects their own culture or story into their part isn't an "artist" they're a narcissist.

I'm so past being called a horrible person for not participating in the strange, angry delusions of others, that frankly the screaming and shouting and insults no longer register on me.

Some of these people can't separate activism from entertainment because they got to where they are _through_ activism, not qualifications, hard work or talent.

Except hundreds of thousands of Tolkien fans and the millions of television viewers that don't like being called racist, misogynist, or whatever other unjustified insult and just wanted a good story.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate Brave Little Toaster and it's inclusion of kitchen and home appliances. We often take for granted and we don't see the heroics these machines do on a day to day when we aren't around to witness it....thank you Brave Little Toaster.

What is happening is Hollywood is becoming less relevant with every insult they direct at the public when the public refuses to fund or otherwise waste thier time on poor product.

Studios need to focus less on representation when writing a story, and focus more on writing a good one first, you can have as much representation as you want, but if nobody likes your characters, your gonna flop, if you have a bad story, your gonna flop. It's possible to get around that sort of, you can have a bad story but loveable characters and that can carry you pretty well. Look at high-school dxd, terrible terrible story, but the characters are funny, and likeable.

They keep switching from attacking fans to planning on rebooting that miserable failure of a show. Remember. Even if they did reboot the show, they deserve no mercy or second chances. They still despise you.

They're only digging their graves that much deeper. Rather than accept the people did not like this show they keep doubling down as if they did the right thing and that everyone needs to get on board

Making the most expensive flop in history is still making history, lowering the bar for all other TV shows is certainly reshaping things

I love Tolkien literature. I wanted to be immersed in the show. My family is multiethnic and with few exceptions, we do not care who fills a role. But we didn’t even make it through the first episode before the kids started wandering off. About the half hour mark, iPhones came out. Then just the wife and I. We struggled to the end but just never made it back for the second episode. The production and acting, was bad and the storyline premise was head scratching nonsense. If it didn’t say it was supposed to be a Tolkien themed production, you might even make the connection.

I remember a time when one actor was asked by his son to play Aragorn. I remember a time when a director brought in fans of Tolkien to make a movie. I remember a time when the people playing the roles talked about THEIR ROLE and not about their politics. I remember a time when talent and hard work was shown on screen and not a scared tiny suposed girlboss had to be 'tutored' because she got scared from the fight with big scary men. I remember a time when LoTR was an epic story saga that inspired many people and brought them together and then there was this shit on the road about something called 'farce of Prime' but i doubt that's important

I am consistently amazed at the narcissism coming from these actors and everyone else involved with this trainwreck of a series. They claim that they disregard the source material because Canon stifles their creative freedom. Here's the problem you need to be creative in order to have said creativity get stifled, plus there's no such thing as getting stifled by Canon

You mentioned the ego some of these people have. So many of them seem to be incredibly narcissistic and arrogant and they wonder why they aren't taken more seriously. If they showed a little humility, it would go a long way.

Honestly whenever I hear whining like this I’m just eternally grateful for how my parents raised me. I’m grateful that they let me like and identify with whichever characters I wanted to and they didn’t brainwash me to believe that I could only identify with characters that looked like me. I’m glad my parents raised me to understand that fictional stories are great but they are just stories and that if I’m looking for heroes I would do better to learn about and imitate real people. I've met most of my best friends among Tolkien's fandom. They were a big support to me during harsh times. So I thank Tolkien because his writings put us together. These actors are mere dust under Tolkien's feet.

In the Silmarillion, Tolkien wrote a very interesting description of Morgoth himself, that is I think applicable; at least in a small and petty sense, to Payme and Mckay, and amazon generally, and the ruinous path they've chosen: "from splendour he fell through arrogance, to contempt for all things save himself, a spirit wasteful and pittiless. Understanding he turned to subtlety in perverting to his own will, all that he would use, until he became a liar without shame. I think we can be pretty sure that this show considered at least 1/4 of its budget to write hit pieces trying to smear its audience, reinforce its broken narrative and justify to someone that this show was saving lives and it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

I wonder why they're not making Earthsea instead where the books were originally written to have a very diverse cast? Instead of taking a story that hasn't got one. I would love to see a new take on Earthsea (since the last live-action wasn't that great, and whitewashed the characters).

The sad thing is... The world that Tolkien created is diverse. They could have expanded their stories all the way to the Great Planes or any other place that Tolkien has not touched up on enough before, where supposedly people and races with darker skin tones live. But no, they completely trashed any meaningful connection or thought you can conjure up about a certain type of people or race and where they might be located. Exactly like GoT has done... In LOTROP they just made every single race a mixed batch of "yeah, we dont know how we got this mixed or have any meaningful backstories" and just went with it, completely negating anything that Tolkien wrote.

This is exactly what'd happen when someone was given a job not based on his/her professional merits, he/she would try every way of distraction to avoid talking about the merits.

A common trope in fantasy sagas are evil leaders of the antagonist's order killing their underlings for not accomplishing their job. Remember when Azog the Defiler straight up murdered his lieutenant orc for running away from the elves in The Hobbit? Behold: Amazon fires 10,000 of its employees. Remember, this is a trope from the "bad-guys" of a story.

I have not watched one second of Rings of Power but have enjoyed you destroying the woke nonsense for a considerable amount of time. Keep up the good work.

There have been many films over the last couple decades with diverse casts that did really well. Probably because they didnt feel the need to tell everyone the film has been "diversified" and to write a ton of script beating it into the audience

Amazon raised the price of their Prime subscription by $2 a month back in April and they sent out an email to everyone saying it was in part to keep bringing us shows like the Wheel of Time and Rings of Power. They knew this was going to flop and the prepaid for it's failure with that increased price in the Prime sub. It doesn't matter that this was a flop in terms of ratings because Amazon raked in an extra free $300+ million a month since April that they would not have made this year without that increased price. It's been 7 months since then, so that's what-$2.1 BILLION extra?! Sure, Rings of Power flopped in the ratings, but Amazon still made out like a bandit this year.

Tbh I kind of feel bad for the people who can’t grasp the themes and timeless human stories in Tolkien’s work beyond what can be co-opted to serve a petty political agenda. They’re missing out on so much.

It almost seems like they set out to make a movie with the worst writing, acting, directing, and most hated lead character they possibly could find.

I have to say I love the representation and boundary pushing work that Rings of Power has done. I now feel confident and empowered knowing that I, an individual who can’t act, am able to pursue a successful career as an actor. I was never able to identify with the characters in LotR before, they were just too believable, and far too complex for me to replicate. It was really hard living each day thinking I couldn’t live my dream of being an adult pretender. But now I know there is a chance. Thank you rings of power, you have saved my life.

Somehow some hobbits from AFrica made their way to middle earth, but they adopted an IRish accent. At the same time, some dwarves emigrated to middle earth from AFrica, but adopted a Scottish accent. The color of the skin is an evolutionary trait that appeared as an adaptation to climate and exposure to the sun, and middle earth was not a melting pot like current new york city. It seems moreover, that emigration to middle earth must have been closed off to hispanics, italians, asians, and indigenous cultures of South America. Diverse, but maybe not diverse enough...Stupid waste of money and time...

There are people far worse off with problems far greater than I. Having been to and hit rock bottom the only way from here is up.

I finished the wheel of time book series a few months before the show released. I only made it through 1 and 1/2 episodes before turning it off. What Amazon did to that series is an atrocity! It was enough of a lesson for me to not even try this series. I think the things that are loved by so many are purposely being inverted and destroyed. If one can’t create, take from your betters and pervert it with an agenda.

It was originally influenced/based heavily on Northern European culture, history and ethnicity. This has been insulted in a deeply parasitic fashion. It deserves nought but ridicule and contempt.

With the money spent on ROP, Amazon should have created an original fantasy show where diversity can be baked in from the foundation, no expectations and it probably would have tracked better than ROP too.

When it comes to diversity in fantasy shows I don't mind it in big cities because it would be some what realistic but when you have like 5 different cultures living in a rural village in the mountains its just annoying to see

The unfortunate truth is when a company does such a bad job on a product, the people suffer in ways that are often not acknowledged. People hoping to have jobs working on additional seasons. Revenue from merchandise helping the companies that make deals to carry those products. Food companies that cater for watch parties and so on. Point being, do a good job so everyone benefits.

The more really of these actors try to protect their bosses, who wrote and run this thing into the ground, the less they're likely to build a career after this

@Nerdrotic I did a review on Amazon for this calling it woke focused and not faithful to Tolkien and it was denied for publishing as being against their TOS... I couldn't believe it.

When will they understand that RoP could be watched for free by everyone with Amazon Prime, while HotD was only available on limited subscription channels. I am only watching it now because it came to Amazon Prime two weeks ago, and I stll had to pay for it.

I watched this show with my ex... the process of us trying to figure out WTF was going on was almost as fun as our break up.

I watched the first episode on my mom's amazon account and told her to drop amazon like a bad disney habit.

Regarding streaming numbers, I keep reminding people that in many counties in Europe, mine included (Greece), HBO streaming service is not available. But Amazon Prime is. Over here, the only legitimate way to watch House of the Dragon was about a week or so after its finale, when a Greek streaming brand got the rights to show it.

Correct me if i'm wrong, i'm just a european, but as i know skin color is just an adjustment which reflects where our ancestors lived. For me the weird thing is that what this kind of shows do is completely opposite. If there is no racism, we don't think about skin color as they do, but we call it a small genetic change based on our environment. Since in LoTR we haven't seen a place like africa, but instead the whole world is based in England, then yeah it's makes sense that the people who lives in a rainy darker, colder environment for thousands of years will look like people who lived there for thousands of years. For me what the companies do is the real racism, since they actively using people of color as shield against criticism and a "pass" to call themselves woke and all that shit. If the opposite would be the popular thing to do they would stomping and jumping on everything they do now. Right now they make sure to hire a diverse cast which will shield them from any criticism, and since THEY use people based on skin color for money and success, i say they are the real racists. Where i live we have a say that roughly translates, "Who throw the first stone is in fact have the greatest sins on their shoulder" It's means, if you burst out to the fans cuz their critics, then maybe you know that your show wasn't that good at all.

Amazon demonstrated that "class" can not be purchased, they invested half a billion into a movie and produced low-class trash. It's not the actors, I'm quite sure they can deliver good acting if you give them proper directions. But there was horrible writing by a writer who does not have the class to write good stories (or text), horrible directing, horrible CGI. The Rings of Power just leak low-class out of every pore except for the camera. The visuals (except for CGI) were very good and came close to the original.

The only thing worse than TROP is the level of lying to shield it from the criticism it fully deserves…

If only they had the passion for making the show as they do hateing the fans... it could have been amazing.

I want to say something brutal about the new kind of film and TV productions from high fantasy worlds. The thing is that the producers dont have a clue or just dont care (for whatever reasons) about the two main sources of high fantasy universums. There are two sources you see. Culture. One is cultural roots, usualy in European culture, but I m sure not only. As one of Polish literary critics said in one of recent book of essays "Tolkien is an Ark of Culture". I agree with this critic. High fantasy was born from languages, poems, songs, myths, and folklores of old Europe. Spirituality. The second root of the genre is actualy spirituality in broad sense. By spirituality I mean two ideas. One idea of spirituality is the idea that there is a higher (or older or wiser) measure of good and evil (of strong and weak, of wisdom and foolishness, of virtue and vice) than only what a legaslature of a country wrote on paper of their land's legal codes. You can call it God if you like. Or the evolution of society. Or the inspiration of culture. Or humanisation of apes :) Or natural law. Or WHATEVER. Thats why they hate fantasy so much, becouse they hate all whatever can be higher or wiser or stronger than them. Maybe its their narcisism trait in them - that idea that I m the only measure of anything and beside me there is no objective truth and other values ? Your own truth over anything without need to seek the objective truth means also that you are lonely and you are uncreative. Becouse IMO the main idea of European culture was "Veritas ante omnia" - the truth is above all. The quests in fantasy worlds are the quests in seek of truth (whatever horrible truth there is it must be exposed !) the external quests are usualy the stage for internal quests of the heroes. And these ppl dont like that there are ideas and values beside what their ideologies told them. Their ideologies seem to be their only oracle in every topic. Its like in a cult of primitive tribe who blindingly believed in whatever their shamans could told them :) Their minds are slaves of a political ideology while they believe that their ideology makes them more free. Which is sad actualy. :( One of the first things I've learned while being educated for researcher was that a scientist/scholar cannot have an ideology, becouse thats like having a dogma of religion - its the end of seek of truth :) Its the end of the quest :) The second idea which I mean by spirituality is the idea that humans need escape from this world and we have the right to escape ! To escape into a spiritual world (sometimes of our own creation) a world of imagination, art, beauty, wisdom, and values of our ancestors - the world of honor, sacrifice, redemption - the world of 'anabasis'. We dont escape just for sheer emotional relief but also becouse the worlds of fantasy (the old ones, the classics I dont know much about the new books), are actualy one of the last spaces of mutual understanding above political strives and are actualy one of the last spaces in which humans can be united, and be creative TOGETHER. The creative space, the uniting space, the space of free intelectual debate - debate without censorship. The fantasy worlds are all those things. These freaks want to take it from us ! While their political ideologies want us to see ourselves only as robots and animals. Becouse robots and animals dont have free will, and when we accept the idea that we dont have free will we would be able to give away our freedom without fight (to corporations, to empires, to globalism, to religions, to whoever will be able to take it), becouse we would believe that we are just like animals and robots not humans, not smt more than animals and robots, so we dont need freedom, becouse we dont have free will. These mental slaves of political indoctrination probably even dont realise themselves that they are tools to make us all believe that we dont need freedom as we dont have free will. They fear escapism so much becouse it means uniting and creative power of imagination of a better world - the world of freedom of mind. :) They fear the art of escapism becouse they have the minds of control-freaks and totalitarians, they fear it becouse escapism tells of FREEDOM.

The reason there are issues in the world is due to their ridiculous spotlight focus on things most people don’t notice or care about. Pointing out how wonderful it SHOULD be, means it’s crap. 600k!!! Feels like it was just 500k. People are gravitating to the truth.
