yeah, base an entire show on an epic battle scene of thousands of men, elves and orcs, but never show more than 20 of them fighting, must have been budget restrictions, oh wait...
Yeah that’s what I also thought. Peter Jacksons Lotr had massive scale, but a way lower budget. The battle felt not even close to the battles we saw in the Lotr movies like how??
A good siege needs purpose and setup. First of all we need to have a better setup of Eregion and the defenders. -How does it work? -How are the Elbs fighting? -Maybe show some future battles -maybe show some strong defenceve wappons Then it is unclear why Adar attacs the hole city. Why does he not talk to the elbs to give him sauron? The blockage of the river is the big ambush. It need at least some backstorry. How does Adar now about it? Why do the Elbs not know? It just seems way to easy and random.
Scriptmage has a video comparing the scale of two coronation scenes, one from TROP and the other from the house of the dragon, and you would think that HOD has 10x the budget of TROP.
If Arondir can come back the following episode after taking some blows to the chest, Adar can still mumber after being stabbed 100 times and Galadriel can recover after falling from eternity, then maybe King Durin could survive being sliced by the balrog? you never know.....
That was awesome when Sensai Bombadil taught Gamdalf how to wield by making his wax on/wax off his Limbo for a long time and them Gandalf was prepared to block Sauron attacks
Not only that but Galadriel isn't a broken mess of limbs after falling what look like a pretty long drop and Adar still conscious and able to lift his arm after being stabbed a hundred plus times. Characters pick up a lot of injuries in this show but heal pretty well when really any kind of wound would put you in peril and leave you bed ridden for weeks
It was a little jarring. We literally saw something that was filmed like a dramatic death scene, then next episode he’s just carried in like a normal prisoner.. he doesn’t even look as roughed up as Elrond 😂
It was really cool. I was worried they would do the fall of Kazzadum in one episode. They stayed down there for almost a year fighting the Balrog. They closed off the mine and no one really knows what happened in that year.
Serious bad assery but what exactly was the point of jumping with an 🪓 to his death? But epic ending. Guess when he took off the ring he realized his mistake and tried to make amends?
Yes and, if I remember correctly, the Balrog is called Durin's Bane by the Dwarf (and very very few, if not only one, survived the war of the Wrath....Valar don't do half work when it comes to pests...)
This season (Not taking into account The Property as a whole but simply as A Series) was 100 times more intriguing and Simply better than the first in every aspect. Most importantly In my opinion the writing.
First season was mostly setup of characters so it took half a season to get the story going. But this season is gets more interesting with the crafting of the rings. It's a pretty good story which was never covered in Peter Jackson's 6 part movies. Definitely an improvement and ignore the critics who just complain about diverse elves. That being said the Halbrand to Sauron transition is ridiculous. And Gandalf takes way too long to remember his powers.
It was clear as to why the orcs turned on Adar. That head most trusted Orc questioned Adar's love for them as his children when he forged them ahead when it appeared that they were losing in battle. When that particular Orc called Adar by name and then said to him "ADAR, You said you loved us..." before Adar made the final decision to continue the campaign that cost so many Orc lives. From that point on the Orcs developed doubt about Adar's love for them. When that trusted leader Orc found Sauron, and Sauron asked his name, Sauron no doubt engaged in some sort of dialog and sensed that apparent doubt, perhaps pretending that he loved the Orcs more so, causing that particular Orc, Adar's most trusted leader, to flip.. At the end of the episode that same orc briefed Sauron about the progress of the war telling Sauron (right before Sauron kills him) that if they continued fighting that more Orc lives would be lost, Sauron kills him. He killed him using the same reason that was used to flip him against Adar. Perhaps seeing a disdained weakness of that particular Orc when it came to other orc lives. At that point Sauron wanted no weaknesses because he had fully installed himself as the leader of the Orcs and had little concern for their lives and had no use for wimpering loose ends crying about love and how many lives being lost in battle.
It explained why the orcs turned on Adar. It doesn't explain why they would follow Sauron. Apparently the orcs just wanted peace, and they know Sauron won't provide that. I think they didn't show it, because they don't know how to explain it.
Sauron is no friend of the orcs and will callously kill them. Yes Adar does care more for the orcs but he knows how dangerous Sauron is so is willing to go to war and sacrifice orcs to destroy Sauron and orcs aren't happy about that but that's no reason for orcs to ally themselves with Sauron. My guess is Sauron used mind game trickery as he has the power to create illusions and convinced the orcs that he was the best choice to look after orc interests. Sauron actually showed he can do much more than create illusions but can actually control minds like he did with the elf soldiers to get them to kill each other so it's possible he is controlling the orcs to kill Adar. But that's silly in itself as Sauron is so powerful he could have just walked up and kill Adar himself without any orc help or ruse. It's obvious Sauron is way more powerful than Adar as he has power to create illusions, mind control, magic to transform himself from Halbrand to Sauron and we haven't seen all his magic powers yet. Plus he is physically strong in combat. That being said I would have liked a better ending for Adar. It's a waste of a good character after all the buildup.
One thing they never explained is why Adar is so taken with orcs and why he cares for them. He is an elf before and they're not exactly friendly with orcs.
The orcs almost got wiped out trying to find and kill Sauron and the guy inexplicably just asking the name of an Orc managed to suddenly become their Lord. RIP Adar , RIP Rings of Power 😢
The orcs complained to Adar about it … fighting elves to kill Sauron was a pointless mission… Adar could have just ruled in peace in MORDOR from the start of his betrayal of Sauron. The orcs follow Sauron now because they know he has great powers… something Adar does not have, something like Morgoth had …
@@jorexthox4330What makes you think that? The orcs wanted peace, that's what the series has shown us. Why would they follow someone even more violent than Adar? They never show orcs complaining about Adar's weakness, or that they wanted more power.
@@nicomal look 👀 at the whole picture… originally they served Melkor/Morgoth the one who corrupted them in the first place from elf to orc… they fought for him out of bondage to his power… otherwise why fight for someone who corrupted to you??? It is like USA 🇺🇸 1861 Civil War… why fight for slaves freedom? Did the northern soldiers love ❤️ them? That they should risk dying for them? People they don’t know or are known by? Why fight for their freedom when they could have fought for themselves (4 million could have rebelled or ran away like some did)… it is POWER to FORCE to FIGHT that Abraham Lincoln tyrant imposed on them… is why he was assassinated by a southern man afterwards.
It wasn't just being a master manipulator that enabled Sauron to turn the orcs against Adar. Or Adar's insistence on having them continue to fight when so many were being killed which caused doubt. It was Sauron's mind control! Saw this coming after watching E6. But I still bawled when Adar was killed. 😭 Especially after he gave Galadriel back her ring. The ring did not only change his appearance. It had changed him both inside and out. Cleared the cobwebs, so to speak. But too late. 😢
Still don’t understand why call this based on Tolkien work if then all story is subverted drastically. Galadriel is probably the worst casting of last years, sorry to the actress, not her fault, but producer’s.
I think Sauron wants both. He really loves Gal, but in his psychotic dark possessive way. It's like Hannibal & Will dynamic. Look at Celebrimbor - he loved him too, but still killed him. Also think he stabbed Gal with crown near her heart to corrupt her spirit from inside - "Bind to my very being"
No he doesn't care for her but just wants the rings. This is the Sauron who doesn't care for anyone. But when he was Halbrand they played up this potential romance where he hinted he wanted her to be his Queen which she obviously is opposed after learning he's now Sauron. So no there's no love or care for her.
I don't hate this show, but I don't love it 🤷🏻♀ I watch it but I often find myself fast forwarding through it when I get bored... but I still wanna know what's going to happen, even when technically I know what's going to happen 🤣 However, if someone asked me, I would trade this series for a 2nd season of My Lady Jane without having to think twice 😆
Also, the elf of colour, who got stabbed with a huge sword in the last episode, you know the one when the battle began and gets continued in this episode..... ya he's totally fine all of a sudden, someone even fixed his clothes and armor, super cool.
I liked it a lot. Peter Jackson’s movies were not 100% faithful to the books but that doesn’t make them any less awesome. Same with this series. Season 1 was a little uneven but I think it started firing on cylinders with season 2.
My question is why would they choose to make the stranger Gandalf when they have two blue Wizards they could have chosen from. Gandalf didn't come to Middle Earth until the third age. They really got the wrong people to do the show. They should have chose people who knew about the story.
Mainly because they are squishing a bunch of events in this. All of the events that have happened in this show take place over decades of warfare and subterfuge.
@@nicomalThey were created to gift those who wears them an ethereal beauty, and it’s implied it gifts them favor in their endeavors. (Likely combat prowess and interpersonal communication.) The rings also were imbued with the power to stop the Fading; basically elven immortal dementia and inevitable death.
Idk if that was really in a way connected to Celebrimbor. It seemed more like he was caught up in the memory of his past and couldn’t really stop that from showing. It’s funny, even the Deceiver falls victim to his own emotions.
Having that much material to work with is both a blessing and a curse, it's almost impossible to do a show on the second age, it takes place during thousands of years, to put it into the screen you'd have to spend more money ever spend in a series, you'd need about 20 seasons, each with 20 episodes at least and every episode about an hour, you'd need a huge number of actors, every season you'd have to debut basicly a new cast, it would take about 50 years to complete, so many actors may die in the process, it would have to be the biggest show ever made... Even the best directors and showrunners in the world would have problem with it... Making movies about thd Lord of The Rings books is one thing, make a show about an entire age is something completely different.
@@42stek Good for them if they get paid... Still, they are amateurs. And the didn't wrote anything, this is just a LOTR fan fiction, a very expensive one.
@@eduardofranco8528tv shows today are not allowed the slow build up to get a story started and fully flesh out the world, tv shows these days have to be an instant hit that brings in viewers from the very first episode if not it gets canned so I can understand why they made decisions like this but at least some more competent writers could have still made this work if Amazon really tried or even bothered
It was lame to have Adar die so soon, especially after having such a momentous show of heart that proved to the audience that he might truly be a hero after all. Right when the character shines and shows potential, they kill him off. I really wanted to see more of him. I would also love to see a lot less of the hobbit c-plot.
Yeah just stabbing him like that was a waste. They spent 7 episodes building him up for an epic showdown with Sauron only to be killed by his own orcs. He is a more interesting character then Sauron.
Tolkien would be rolling in his grave. If he knew how horrible the writing was in this series. Gandalf story was almost a side note. Yet Gandalf played a vital roll in this story.
I love it! some parts were dragging, but overall it's a great show and all the storylines of Middle Earth and why everything happened ties to the future in what happens in LOTR in the 3rd age...
The lore will always be there, untouched, this is just a show, nobody has to watch it or like it, neither this ou anything ever made will replace the original books, don't worry
Don’t let that stop you from watching it🙄 what do you know of the lore? The version from the Silmarillion? The one from Unfinished tales? The one from Return of the King? Or the one from Fall of numenor?
Honestly don’t know why people complain. It’s a badass show. They never said they were going to stick to the story line and honestly I’m glad they aren’t.
I think this is a better season, but the for the lore of Tolkien it's a bit anything goes now, so for what it is, a great fantasy show but a bad adaptation of the world Tolkien created.
Season 2 was fun to watch, but I feel like they rushed the ending, and it didn't make any sense. I still don't understand what Sauron did to convince the Orcs
When I first watched Season 1 last year, I though, "Meh - entertaining, but not so good." This year, after watching S2, E1, decided to go back and watch Season 1 again. Liked it better the second time. But Season 2 was still so much better!
Really enjoyed Season 2. Season 1 was tougher to get through because of story building, but after two episodes of Season 2, I went back and re-watched Season 1 with new appreciation for the weaving and building of the story. So many threads, like when Halbrand suggests to Galadriel while in prison on Numenor that she should find what the Queen Reagent fears and not use it to control the Queen Reagent, but to help her master it so that Galadriel can then master the Queen Reagent. That tactic is the entirety of the story of the rings - whether it's using the greed of the dwarves to conquer their fear of loss, the fear men have of mortality, or the elves of their fear they, and their creations, would fade into irrelevance and their pride would not endure. The greatest achievement was the writing and acting to deliver and work the deceit in such a way as to not go over the top with villainy, but convince each person that he comes in contact with that he gave them a choice that they would gladly take and that he's blameless that they took the paths they did to their ruin. I am really looking forward to Season 3. I hope they explore the Blue Wizards, the east and south, the corruption of men along side the downfall of Numenor, the fall of Khazad-dum and so much more to explore.
Oh that’s so nice of you but tell me how any of this makes sense? Isildir is in the beginning of the first. Live and this show is suppose to be thousands of years before that
I know the show breaks a lot of the story’s lore but it was enjoyable to watch and see the set pieces. Also your ending should have Adar saying “Daddy loves you very much” and then show all the orcs furiously stabbing him 🤣
@@predragdjedovic don't tell me who I am ,you don't know me. I really like the show and it's not so strange, it's done right! I am just sick of haters voices to be the loudest,my opinion is positive so GTFO of my comment hater.
what bothers me is that Arondir was stab in the previous episode like a weakling by Adar, the next episode, Adar gone soft and got killed like a beat meat and arondir walking straight like a fine man. Im not a book fam, just a casual trilogy fun but man. the writing is so abysmal. the only good thing they did thw whole season is making the night siege of eregion not dark as the long night in GOT.
The show is great in many splendors and closing and it has closer ,than the most think, to bear the title of magnificent or perfect desighn in way of writing or story telling, visual procesing and work with camera regarding beautiful shots... . I will not compare rop and lotr because it it one world one idea that bind the beauty of it, the guide teller that bring peace in dusky days and happiness in awereness😊😇
What beats me is that why that balrog who is easily able to smash through mountain rocks even bedrock had not come forth till During or During came down to him to say hello I mean he can get out of there but why he had not
This show reminded me of the stories I used to write when I was 10... a series of erratic events like, "And then this happened! And now this! Never mind, they're ok. Now they go into the haunted forest!" I point specifically to when Isildur’s sister got a letter from college--- I died of cringe. This and “they took our jobs” moment were truly highlights of the show. Oh, and Durin’s “give me the meat and give it to me raw”
@@nonamename4367because they took original idea of Tolkien and ruined it...If they make their own creation I wouldn't care...But they ruined someone's art
The Balrog the Dwarves uncovered is the last known Balrog to survive Morgoths demise in the first age, It fled and hid in the mountains, So yes, This is the same one that Gandalf faces. Also you are questioning who the Dark wizard is 🤦♂ He said in the finale 'There are 5 of us' So he is either Saruman, Radagast, Alatar or Pallando......Radagast loves herbs and animals, Alatars name translates to 'Darkness slayer', Pallandos name translates to 'East Helper, Alatar and Pallando were both sent to corrupt Saurons forces, And they both were sent to aid Men. You arnt the most educated on Lord of the rings are you.
If the rings have these healing powers why not just put it on Galadriel when she decided to suicide jump off a cliff? If mithril was what saved the realm of London why did they need rings at all? Just sprinkle mithril everywhere? What do these things actually do? It's very consistent
interesting that those who doesnt like it watch it the most..., at last, the poison is extracted from wound by patience and guiding spirit. This show makes as much as it can to bring tolkiens ideas to live action and pay tribute to this world of a one man where we all find our own, but that the most of you just threw away and instead sow poison in hearts of others and first of all in your own .... and why....
Do they? Or are they just the people that bitch the loudest online? I think it boils down to they didn’t watch the show, they watched the movies, they didn’t read all the books (it’s a tough read), they hate women and people of color. I find it funny they still complain about something they hate. 🙄
The Show ist Shit...because WE grew Up with the Lord of the rings trilogy....which was Made 25 years ago and IS still better in any aspect...this Looks Like a parody. Fans already hated the Hobbit because of that but Same AS for Star wars when Fans hated the prequels ...when the sequels came people started to rate the prequels Higher because the sequels were soulless shiiiiiiiit. Same Here ...now i Like the Hobbit more than before because now i know how Bad IT could have been
@@tb2571 And tell me wise man, why to hell you have need for constantly comparing these two...? As you sad, 25years ago.., it was a rime where we let our selves to be guide by the films or show, noone cared for a small thinks like that sauron was never just flaming eye and so, and I dont care it is perfect, so tell me why are you consumed by this way, tell me....?
So did Adar, who was a mix of elf and urak, and very much elf even then, after being healed by the Elven Ring to almost all elf (inside and out - improved appearance and also clearer thinking as in cobwebs gone) get to go to the Halls of Mandos after he died?
The LOTR trilogy took it's power from the myths around Sauron, the rings, the elf's and the epic battles, all of which are someone dethrowned in season one and two. They appear much weaker and more useless then advertised in the trilogy. I'm sure they will do the same with the Nasgul. Also, some of the plot twists appear fabricated. Sauron SOMEHOW becomes leader of an orc army that was send specifically to kill him under great losses, and being easily turned against Adar, who is SURPRISE a good one. It looks like the authors did not have a good explanation themselves of how this went down.
The ending of Lord of the Rings Return of the King would of been way better if Sauron actually had a form where the audience could actually see him suffer and then die instead of eye in the sky that doesn't show pain. The good guys suffer the whole movie and the ultimate bad guy is dead in 5 seconds the bad guy should suffer the same or more in the end
Is it bad that when the elves rejoiced on the cliff, and you see the elf king sitting over the others while they hug on a bed…….I got major p diddy vibes😅😂😂
This show is getting great viewership numbers. Egg on the face of the toxic haters and whiners lol Now, truth be told, I am not a fan and barely made it past a few episodes but the way the coordinated internet hate was so toxic and vindictive really rubbed me the wrong way. It is ok not to like something but people were being nasty and mean. For that alone, I celebrate the show's success.
Probably the best comment I read all day, thank you man, you made my day, honestly, I like this show, and I totally understand people that don't, it's not a perfect show, but the hate community jump on this show like it's the worst thing ever made, and istead of not watching it and leave at that they prefere to go online and try to hate the show out of existence, and any positive thing you say about it they hate on you on a personal level for no reason, I had people calling me several things just because I dare to like this show... So it's very refreshing to see people like you here, that don't like, but do respect, so thank you so much for this comment!!
@@eduardofranco8528 The thing is, this is an objectively bad show. The pacing is all off, camera shots don't make sense.. even the set design/costumes don't scream 1 billion dollars. Why are we accepting anything less? You can enjoy something, sure, but the truth is that if they had actual show runners that were more faithful to & had a love for the source material, you'd probably enjoy the show even more... so I ask again, why are we accepting less? Personally, I watch every episode because of my deep love for the world, characters & story Tolkien has built; the names are even buzzwords for me. It's hard to get through sometimes, and to see all this money being spent on a story that was quite honestly simple to pull off (look at the video games using the same source material)... it's soul sucking.
All i can say is this show is Blasphemy in the name of Tolkien and the fans, and only trying to Gaslight every person that Loves the movies and the book's 😢😢😢
Really enjoyed the season, a step up from one. lots of good story coming down the pike. The elves were so overpowered at Elegion all seemed lost. What do people make of Sauron he had real feelings for Galadriel.Seems to have a genuine respect and care for Celebrimbor and is wounded by his words. show continues to be strangely underpopulated. the orcs turning on their lord and father gave Ceaser vibes.
its just so dumb, I genuinely don't understand the choices they make. Like even bringing back Arondir, I thought "wow they're actually killing main characters off, maybe the writers aren't completely useless". Plus of course the other guy is Saruman, Saruman is the most obvious answer so the writers will take the path that involves the least thinking.
I respect you for doing this in a professional manner, while avoiding pointing out how far removed from the lore this show is. Wishing you better shows to breakdown in the future. Take care ❤
I don’t think she’s strong/powerful enough yet. The battle in the Hobbit is a thousand years after the events of Rings of Power when she’s had time to hone her craft and powers
In the movie, the personification of her as "a Queen, terrible as the ..." was if she had the One Ring, not Nenya. Nenya is a Healing ring, new life. That's its superpower. You saw what it did to Adar, right? Healed him physically and also, healed his mind. Cleared out some of the bitter "cobwebs". It didn't give him superpower to overtake Sauron. He knew that and gave it back to Galadriel as a token of reconcilation of elves and orcs working together to rid Middle Earth of Sauron.
@@janislevy1ify in the Hobbit series, she uses her ring to obliterate the orc and also fights back against Sauron in Dol Goldur, she isn’t wearing the one ring then. Her ring also repels darkness and evil and is a source of light protection as well.
