I have a strong need to know how the Mordor irrigation project is coming along- are they growing any other crops apart from the dead? I mean, can they grow arable crops like maize for Glugling to eat, or will the poor dude be forever stuck with just man-flesh to gnaw on?

Honestly a lot of this fits in well with the Plinkett reviews joke of: "How do you know that? did you read the script, hey whats that is that the script?" As honestly so many of these characters know information they would only know if they'd read the script.

Why in the hell would Adar send a corpse with "where is he?" carved into it. Obviously he knows the Elves don't know who "he" is. Why didn't he carve "Where is Sauron?", or "Why are you working with Sauron?", or even "Did you idiots even know Sauron is with you?". He should be trying to alert them that Sauron is among them. Keeping it a secret just means he's going to have to fight the Elves even harder when he gets there. He should be alerting them to his identity and encouraging them to take him prisoner or kill him and deliver his corpse as terms to avoid war. This is another one of those dumb mystery boxes that actually make no sense at all.
They should have had a scene where he was carving the message and then one of the orcs walks by and says what you said. Then Adar takes his knife crosses out the "he" and writes Sauron underneath.
Celebrimbor had enough gold and silver and Mithril to make literally more than 100 rings with just the weight of Galadriels dagger lol. They produced three 5 gram rings with more than a pound of material at least, and then apparently they just discarded the rest of that material. There's actually not one single important decision in this show that isn't packed with errors and nonsense. 🤣🤣
Adar doesn't remember that Halbrand held a spear to his throat and asked if he remembered him. He meets him for the second time and just decides to trust him. He buys his story and just lets him go to Eregion. Then he decides to take his own army to Eregion for no apparent reason, even though it's literally behind the largest mountain range in Middle Earth and he has no clue what's going on there. Why let some prisoner go there when you are already planning to go there yourself? Then he magically just figures out that Halbrand is Sauron, and has no self reflection about it. We are supposed to assume he always knew it or obtained some new information off screen (of course). The writers just decide things must happen in order to follow the script and it's so apparent. They just decided that Sauron must cause confusion in Eregion which translates to Celebrimbor forgetting things or being a dick and it doesn't translate at all.

There's genuinely no reason why sauron even needs celebrimbor at all, he only worked with him in the source to trick the elves because he only cared about the elves, he can easily trick dwarves and men however so going back to eregion is (again) a waste of time
In the ACTUAL lore, Celebrimbor never even trusted Annatar. He just played along to make the three elven rings AFTER the seven and the nine were made, and then Sauron made the One Ring, the elves realized something was afoot and took off their rings, and Sauron got pissy and besieged Eregion to take all the other rings and spread them around. Heck, it's even implied that ALL the rings were meant for the elves, but since they didn't work out, Sauron gave some to the dwarves, but they were hard to control, so he handed the leftovers to men. Considering the whole show is named after them, you'd think they would at least get this right, but of course not.
I disagree with your criticism of the throwing people into the sea business. If the faithful used this test on criminals and the valar allowed them to die most of the time, then it would be confirmation that they were in fact guilty. The few that were spared were those who were in fact innocent and didn't deserve to die. The fact that many people died would not be a reason for them to loose their faith. Rather it would be confirmation that these people are criminals.
There are still very fundamental issues: 1) Tolkien considered the Faithful as virtuous and wise - which excluded such cruel rituals at any point while they had any say about the way of practising justice in their kingdom and one should argue that even the Númenoran society as whole did not do human sacrifices to monsters at this point (before Sauron directly corrupted Pharazon and the king's party, which has not happened yet/might never happen in this show). AND the Valar would not be involved such business either. They created the island of Númenor as a space protected from most dangers and bad things (like crop failure, hunger, crippling illnesses, epidemics, or shipwrecking) and kept it this way while the Númenorans were all more or less faithful (and even for a long time beyond). 2) The general sea monster obsession of this show: this is already the second one and they appear and disappear for script-related reasons only in or near the very place, from where they should have been barred by the Valar`s protective measures 3) Why should we - the potential audience - feel any sympathy for Elendil and the other Faithfuls, when they used such barbaric methods? The whole Númenoran plot line seems to be more or less the unsuccessful and tasteless attempt to mimic Game of Throne political games and trying to make us buy the argument that even in fantasy really everybody is flawed, unjust, and cruel in the end, because it cannot be helped.
I wanted to share a realization I had. There are supposed to be Nine Rings for men, yet the only group of men we've seen is Numenor. Thus they are either going to have to start introducing new groups of men several seasons in, or all the rings are going to people in Numenor. Because its rings of power I would not be surprised by the latter. It's one thing for the Dwarf rings to go to nebulous "dwarf lords" under the reign of the King, but not all men are meant to be united under Numenor.

What's weird is that the show has run for so many hours so far, with so little happening; and yet it feels rushed when it comes to making important connections like setting up the Númenorean beliefs vis à vis the Elves and Valar, Adar's troop movements (is that troll still around?), the Elvish 'armies' we never see, etc.
During his trial… Elendil not mentioning how Afrock got unalived by Farazon’s son is pre-amateur level writing. It is impossible to connect to this show or suspend disbelief.
this episode contains (by my count) the 3rd time a character stumbles onto a map that tells them exactly what they need to know/where to go for the plot to continue...🤦♂
The orcs being anything else than bloodthirsty savages is so weird. Just imagine the first scene with Arondir ready to engage and the two guys dropping their weapons, surrendering. He'd be at a loss, needing to take them prisoner or outright murder non-combatants in cold blood 😂

At this point the show has done nothing but show why Valar should stay OUT of Middle Earth’s affairs because all of their actions have led to negative results. 1. Make petals fall? Get a bunch of Numenoreans killed and injured at Mordor. 2. Send an Eagle? Get Marx endorsed by mistake. 3. Have a sea monster decide guilt? Create an easily exploited justice system. 4. Rock a boat? Elves keep the evil Rings. 5. Send a wizard to middle earth only for him to turn evil? Send another one only without his memory, control of his powers, or basic faculties so he can’t do his job.
As much as I harp on GRRM’s laziness in completing his series, he at least understands logistics. Where the fuck is the lord commander of the city watch of Eregion? Where’s the manager of the forge? And you don’t fire the Gwaithimirdain. What the fuck is Saurbrand doing? Oh and that’s Cirth, an elvish script created by the Sindar elves. The language all elves started using during the First and Second Ages. It was then given to the dwarves as it was easy to carve into stone. Later, Tengwar had replaced Cirth. So not!Celebrien totally should know what Cirth is. Cirth was never used for Orcish at all. I have no idea why they are using it now. Also, they shouldn’t have Morgoth’s crown as it was turned into a collar and fastened around Morgoth’s neck. So if that’s his crown, what happened to Morgoth? Was he not captured at the end of the First Age and thrown into the Void? I don’t think JD and Patrick know what the Secret Fire is. I know what it is, it’s the fire of intelligence that Eru Iluvitar grants to creatures including Elves and Men. It’s the Free Will of all Eru’s creations. It’s something that Morgoth tried to get a hold of but couldn’t because it lies within Eru himself. The Secret Fire is NOT the Force. When Gandalf stated he’s a servant of the Secret Fire, it means he is a servant of Eru and the Balrog who serves Morgoth, serves a lesser being.

If someone told Addar that was Morgoth's crown, they were lying to him. Morgoth's iron, after the Silmarils were reclaimed, was beaten into a collar for his chains when the Valar finally captured him. Even if it was removed before he was forced through the Door of Night, there's no way Sauron could've gotten ahold of it.

I think that Sauron wants Adar to attack so that he can inadvertently use the orcs as a shield when the elven army comes that he sees as the greater threat
Mice don't eat forge dirt. If the mice are supposed to show that the forge is dirty that is stupid. Judging by the other information the show has said about Adar the interaction with Sauron offering him children was probably in the first age when Sauron was Morgoth's lieutenant. There is no way a Kingsman would ever allow the faithful a trial by Valar. The Kingsman are not atheists. They believe the Valar exist but they want to rebel. As an analogy it would be like the Taliban arresting a woman for not wearing a hijab and then deciding to allow the US to judge her case. The secret fire is the essence of Eru Illuvitar that allows for the creation of life.
The writers could have arranged it so the elf rings are safe(r) from Sauron's malevolent influence precisely because they were made with gold and silver from Valinor. When that was used up, rings were made from ordinary gold and silver and thus the dwarf and human rings are (more) evil. That would have been pretty cool, if anyone working at RoP had thought of it.
I love the fact that RFT's avatar is becoming more disheveled as the season 2 analysis goes on, demonstrating his sanity slipping away more and more as the show becomes more broken with each passing minute of screentime. And it's still a better arc than Celebrimbor's descent into madness.

And if Adar needed confirmation of Sauron whereabouts should have not send spies and scouts there before moving his all entire army? It seems to me more a message to scare him, and that would explain why it has been written in the dark speech. And maybe Sauron lied and the message says: "I'm coming for you!" But if that is the case what is the point of creating all of this illogical and unnecessary mystery and drama?

Honestly im surprised that the chuthulu trial is such a big deal. Given that "The sea is always right" is their key believe, its more strange to me that they dont let the sea judge evrything and not just those very rare cases. "You will be judged wether or not you have stolen those apples. Theirfore if you survive on the open sea for 2 days you will be free" Seems to be the normal thing a "judge" would say on that mad island.
Hi Random, another great video breaking down this awful show. I share your morbid curiosity about episode 7 and all the ways it will go wrong. Since you know this show and its time line so well I wanted to ask your opinion on a theory I have about the coming battle episodes. I actually think that the allies Gil-Galad hinted at in episode 5 are the Númenoreans and they will once again come in at the last second to save the day just like in s1 e6. The reason for this is the timeline. The last point at which the timelines of Galadriel's story and Númenor were synchronised is in s1 e7 when they sail back to Númenor and Galadriel learns that Halbrand is wounded. Since then Galadriel rode six days to Eregion, the rings were forged after a few weeks (presumably nearly all of the six weeks time Elrond asked of Gil-Galad in s1 e8 because Gil-Galad said Sauron worked with Celebrimbor for weeks) and the events of season 2 happened. The Númenoreans sailed home in anything from a few days to a month (it's RoP so travelling time is whatever the plot needs it to be), the king has died shortly before they arrived and then the events of season 2 seemingly happen over the course of a few days, a week at most unless I missed a line that implied a time skip. Which would mean that everything that happened in the Númenor plot line in season 2 took place before the elven rings were forged in s1 e8. So I think that Gil-Galad sent a messenger to Númenor to ask for aid, probably because his ring gave him a vision and they will show up at the point that will create maximum drama. This would vaguely be in line with some events from the lore though out of order and for different reasons which would be par for the course for RoP.
Peeping Tom Bombadimwit's perverted use of Gandalf's quote made me pause the episode and go pace around the house while muttering obscenities. I needed a moment to let it pass before continuing. Season 2 has managed to be less immediately offensively stupid than season 1, and been more of a slow, subtle building offense, but it is catching up and this was one of the lowest moments.
From the 1978 film orcs not wanting to fight is canonical - at least according to the musical number. Maybe not the best source for lore but more than Payne and the other guy usually research.
So the Harfoots live in the perfect land for staying in one place and the SToors live in the sort of land that lends itself to nomads. Nomads wander because there are not enough resources in one spot to support them year around. That does not seem the case for the Harfoots and teh Stoors amount of agriculture seems strange in thier current situation.

At this point if you started to read the technical specifications of a 1997 Suzuki Swift I would probably assume it's just a quote from one of the characters. I don't get why the forests in Elf lands look like human shaped forests; trees of the same age and species, as if the forest was cut down and then a new planted. Doesn't sounds like Elfs ...

The gold is from other dwarf clans so they can get one of the other dwarven rings of power Moria has Mithril, not gold. I like your rant on the gold, but it's not coming from Moria, but other dwarf clans.
Where is everyone? 7 rings for the dwarves, but we only meet one of the ring bearers… Will the only human ring bearer that we see be that one dude from Numenor? The rest get them off screen? There is barely any world building going on here at all. It feels like they are fast tracking this show to the finish line to wrap it up with a 3rd season because it has failed so badly and is losing so much money. Did Prime video only introduce ads to offset the cost of this nonsense?
