I'm so glad to see the RIO getting some love, as it has needed it for way too long and is one of the few older hotel & casinos left, and it's location is one of a kind.
I was at the Rio back in the day. The masquerade in the sky with the pretty ladies throwing beeds and the huge international buffet was awesome. The pool looks cool and refreshing. I’m glad it’s back found memories of the Rio especially with the Mirage going. Great video guys 💯
I agree with you about dry heat!! I'm a native New Yorker and travel between coasts often since my husband's family is from LA. When I tell Californians I find SoCal summers hot (especially in the valleys), they're always like, "Well, at least it's DRY heat, not like the humid East Coast" and I'm like, "Dude, when it hits 85/90 degrees it doesn't matter anymore - hot is hot!" And I'm also thinking, "Are you really comparing Northeast humidity to like, Florida, or Texas?!"
My Husband and I got married in Vegas in 1992. We stayed at the Rio on the 17th floor the next morning was I think the Landers earthquake. I have never been so scared. The whole building swayed. We did enjoy the Rio buffet. Needless to say we changed rooms to the 4th floor the next night!! lol. Oh and we heard people running down the halls screaming. We are from California so we know about Earthquakes!!
We stayed at the Rio a few weeks ago and the food court was a highlight! Very impressed by the options! The cheesesteak was sooooo good, also our room was very spacious and quiet, we slept all day. We missed our flight and rio allowed us to extend our stay in the same room so we didn’t have to wait until 3 to check in again! We slept all day and flew out at midnight and I was so thankful we didn’t have to try to rest in the air port. The price was around 50 bucks during the week for a basic room. I think was free parking too.
Our family were in the gondola show one thanksgiving! We were costumed up & given beads to throw & tambourines to play. Was fun. We also got memory albums. There was a steak house restaurant where you picked your aged dry rub steak.
Yes the Rio!! I am so glad you are showing it some love. The new owner is really dedicated to being her back. When we moved to Vegas over 20 years ago this was the 1st casino we went to. The Wedding chapel is apart of KISS world. Before the Rio location they had a location on Paradise and my hubby and renewed our vows in what was the Hotter Than Hell Wedding Chapel. Our freind was a Gene Simmons impersonater and did our vows. It was epic! I hope the bring back the parade in the sky. It was so cool!

All the older restaurants around the back are the ones they kept. And the newer ones that they revamped across from the check in are the ones that you ate at and It used to be the American Grill....

My family stayed there on our way to Disneyland in September of 22 and it was SO bad, horrible. We stayed there b/c my daughter in law is actually from Rio, the real Rio. It was such a depressing experience. Glad to see they are fixing it up.
I was engaged by MARCOR in 1989, a development company. I assembled through a series of Purchase and Sales Agreements the initial footprint of the initial phase of the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino. Very proud to add that to my real estate history
Thank you and bravo👏 for the detailed video. I lived in Vegas past 15 years and only patronize the KJ Chinese Restaurant for Dim Sum (one of with push carts) and rarely venture inside. Been Penn & Teller and mini golf (company private event). It’s nice to see the newly renovated rooms as well as food choices available. Awesome video! (lol…your mini bar commentary 😅)
Love seeing you both back in Vegas! It was reported here, locally, that the new owners of the Rio said that all of the floats from the show in the sky are still all there, and they are looking into the possibility of bringing the show back!
Use to love the Rio. My hubby and I stayed there in 1995 after our wedding and it was so nice. The buffet was amazing and affordable. I had never seen such a big buffet. Plus the beds were nice and huge. Then we stayed there about 10 years ago and the buffet was closed for breakfast which sucked. There was also a small window from the bathroom shower that looked into the main area of the room and I thought that was odd. I hope they make it great again.
We used to love the Rio and actually bought tickets to ride along on the masquerade in the sky! Also loved the old AYCE seafood buffet (which is now KISS World)
We just started at the Rio last year for one night and it felt sad. It looks like already a huge improvement. Rio will get another phase of glory coming after this refurb.
Penn and Teller are still one of the best shows in Vegas! The ticket prices are affordable, and they will meet ALL their guests after the show at the exit. Fun fact - my wife was selected to be levitated on stage for her 21st birthday - which was yesterday… give or take a few…
Yes, it was a nice stay back in the day with the floats. Wish katy you could of told us the price, especially on a holiday week. Overall, it's a good video. ❤

The Rio has obviously undergone a major real renovation. Your pictures show a Rio that is tremendously improved from the last time I was there. Congratulations.
I totally feel you Katy when you said the Rio used to be so lively back in the day! I have fun memories of staying there & it was poppin 🎉 it’s really sad to see how dead it is there! But the Food Court & rooms look promising. I hope they can revive it!
I would absolutely go to a dad bod Chippendales type show. I don't prefer fit and muscular men. Give me some Kevin James and Jack Black guys and I'll buy a front row seat.
I got married downtown Vegas 26 years ago and we had a large suite at the Rio and had our reception in our room it was one big party with the Mardi gras vibes 😊
I hate the rio the show in the sky because the mask in the show it really scared the hell out of me butt I love penn & tenn show was so funny & amazing I loved it I also remember King's Guard where their in the stores not moving
I stayed at the Rio every year for the Star Trek convention up until 2020, honestly it doesn’t look like they’ve changed anything except for converted the buffet into that food court. Everything else looks pretty sad and the same. Oh yes, I guess they did update the room a little bit, but some of furniture actually looks the same. 🫤
