Hey everybody, welcome to the next commentary. Today we are playing some Taliyah mid versus a uh Azir. Uh, man, I have not played Taliyah in quite some time...
I think some Taliyah one tricks will purposely not level up their ultimate since you can only use it out of combat. That way if you’re in trouble and need to get out, you can quickly level it up and run away.
You can actually use R in combat once- if you hold off on leveling your R like an Ekko then you can use it immediately after leveling it. Seems situational, but it has its uses as it could have saved you at 9:20
so someone answer this for me, please. Pekin almost never roams. Is that a playstyle thing, do people often endup losing (either xp, gold, or pressure) by roaming too much and i'm just too used to that, or is he actually misplaying some times?
Yes, you can miss a lot if you roam and get nothing, especially if the enemy laner puts your whole wave under turret. However, I don't think it means you have to stay in your lane all the time. You can help your top or bot lane secure a kill, help your jungler get an objective... It just depends on the game, and the character you're playing. If you're a Qiyana mid, you have to roam, that's like mandatory. But if you're a mage like Lux or Hwei, just focus on your lane, destroy the turret, and then help your team. At least, that's how I see it.
I'll try to answer this myself. -i no longer look at the minimap as often which hurts knowing timers (when my team is under tower or pushing) -early game preboots it's almost never worth to roam to a lane (unless something with insane mobility like talon). Only scuttle fights you can join easily without losing a lot. -i don't move my camera to my teammates side lanes as often during lane to scout roams. I definitely still do it but just not as common as I should. -depending on my team I might roam less or more. If I have a karthus jungle I don't ever want to do roam plays alongside him because he sometimes is awful 2v2 pairing. Meanwhile something like Jarvan or Elise could easily benefit from me being with them. -if my team is already winning normally roams aren't needed. I can just continue pressure and wait to be carried. -some champs roams are painful matchups. If I'm Syndra vs like a fed Fizz so he has lane prio I literally cannot roam because if I do for some reason meet him in river I will die and get further behind. -rule of thumb for roams is try to always do it on a shove and if it doesn't look good get back mid without missing a single exp. You can miss the gold not exp. If you do commit the roam you have to win the kills because if it fails you will miss a huge amount of gold exp which means when you return ur lane will maybe be able to beat you I'm sure there is more but I'm really tired so heading off to bed
@PekinWoof I like to Play ziggs and lissandra. Ziggs I can use R to help other lanes. Lissandra I pick into assassins who like to roam so I run Demolish for plating when they leave lane. I think playing around mid is more consistent
Defensive rune shard options are only hp and tenacity. Riot said it was dumb how you could ruin a lane through wrong runes. Like if u faced Jayce and Rumble in champ select it was luck on which one is facing (armor or mr shard). Good change by riot, it's better this way (not to mention I don't pay attention to select so buff for me 💪)
Anyone else infuriated he wouldnt drink his potion the entire time in game 2? I think it also made him not get the 3rd potion for the longest time cuz inventory lock
Was that the right order/timing on the burst combo? I've never played Taliyah, but it looked kind of often that the knockback was going off before the rocks were laid down, missing the burst damage from pushing them through the field.
Also, Taliyah e does decreased damage after every trigger on the same target, down to 0% after the fourth rock hits them. So you can get the full damage just hitting them at the tail end of the push if the e was still unravelling earlier. The e timing is very flexible, you just need to land the w.
Do you think you’ll be trying the Lich Bane Ahri build again anytime soon? I tried it (albeit modified a little for urf, bc I can’t be bothered to play solo q) and it’s actually really fun, especially when the enemy team runs way too fast or has too many dashes to ever hit e
