A Great Act that has never gotten its dues, Man Jamming to these guys drinking some beers, I was 10 when I heard Marauder on 8track the first time. I have never understood why they never got the respect due.
Been a Riot fan since I was a teenager. Long long time. They deserve so much better than they got. Better than most "metal" bands of their time. Guy or Rhett. The fact that we are commenting says a lot.
Big fan of riot at this time and like the guy and Rhett.. but in the late 80s when they came out with thundersteel and privilege of power I was blown away yet again
killer track. This song should be in the top 100 all-time rock songs. "Half crazed on tequila" been there. R.I.P. Mark, Guy and Rhett. music today is dead. Thank God we still can listen to this.
So, so, under rated. So many bands with far less talent went onto greater acclaim. Saw Riot back in the 80's as support to Sammy Hagar. They stole the show! Great memories.
They called me “Metal Mara” in high school in the 80s. Riot was one of my favorite bands. Totally underrated. Just as enjoyable to listen to now as it was then. Rock on! 🤘🏼
If I were around to see the great hard rock/heavy metal bands of the late 70’s and early 80’s, Riot would have been at the top 5 of my list. This band (along with various others) formed heavy metal. Long Live Riot!
Love this band. Been a fan since the Rock City album. Riot blew up in San Antonio back in the late 70’s thanks to local DJ Joe Anthony on KMAC and KISS Radio. Saw them with Budgie and Legs Diamond all on same bill
I never would have heard of this band if my grandfather didn't give me a promotional record in 1981 of this album, Fire Down Under. Wish i still had it. He worked for KFSB in Joplin MO and pretty much built the station . This is the most rocking album EVER in my opinion. Too bad they didn't get the recognition they deserved. Top 5 metal album all time
Hey man I'm currently managing an 80's heavy metal band called Hammer Head from Tacoma Washington. I'm hoping to get them more radio air play for their old and or new material would be great for an interview with Pete Mainzer the vocalist too. Let me know if you are interested. They released Rock Forever in 1987.
This is where WORDS TO DESCRIBE A FANTASTIC METAL PHENOMENON end and you are just SPEECHLESS with your jaw dropped and your head banging perpetually in AWE, Words are no longer inadequate. THIS IS SUPERLATIVE MUSIC, THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE! Yesterday, today and forever. Amen and amen 🙏
This song is simply amazing. It has all... Melody, rythm, feel, energy and progression. Feels like you're there... in space and time :) In the end, marketing even doesn't matter. When song is good and people like it... simply, will be heard.
You said it EXACTLY. I keep coming back to this. Power, Intensity. Progression and just POWER! I LOVE watching the singer Guy Speranza! Performance Perfect!
If you've not heard "Narita" you're missing out on the incredible bad ass feeling of hearing it for the first time! It will be one of your all time favorites. Doesn't get any better than Riot's power!
unfortunately, they lost their momentum when Quiet Riot became famous with "Cum on Feel The Noize." because of the mild confusion with their band names.
you so right Hellwarz...im from Winnipeg and I bought their first album in 1977....So they must have been big if you also heard of them in those years...i thought i was the only one...because most of my friends never heard or even played them.Rock City great Album..Peace...
I keep coming back to this song. Back when no one knew Riot I had this album. Wish these guys went big time. Awesome music compared to some of the crap that was successful. Damn shame.
WKUFranko I agree mate, iv been into metal for 20 years or so and never come across them. Then randomly Thundersteel came up in my recommendations and iv been Riot bingeing for days 😂
Junkyard was highly underrated also. Came out at the same times as Guns n Roses did with the same record company, G n R had better marketing, Junkyard was a better band.
Banda muy buena sonido bien los vocalistas que a tenido esta banda tambien fueron echos para esta tremenda banda los escuche por primera vez en 1978. Con 14 años y ahora tengo 58
wore this album out. this is one of the most complete heavy metal albums ever made. always wish I would have seen them in concert. headbangers live on!!
In agreement with Jeff Brown that FIRE DOWN UNDER was one of the best metal hard rock Gibson Les Paul Plugged into a Marshall stack kinda albums of that time! Great!!! I saw RIOT back in the day after Guy Speranza left. It was at a club venue with RIOT opening, ALCATRAZZ with Yngwie and RATT headlining. RIOT blew them all off the stage that night. RIOT should have headlined that night they were terrific rock band. Ratt should have been the opener and Yngwie was right were he belonged. RIOT ROCKS!!!
Wow!
Reale became an even more awesome guitarists. Riot's work late 80s (Thundersteel) up to the 2000s (especially Privilege of Power and Sons of Society) are awesom, guitar work is spectacular and Jarzombek on drums is one of the best metal drummers I have ever heard, awesome single and double bass work.
Thank you for posting this. This is my favorite album of all time, I freaking love it. I was never able to see video of the actual performances when I was a kid. At that time Rhett Forrester had taken over on the vocals and it wasn't the same. I miss this band, I think they were the key between rock and thrash. They could have been!
