Eddie Clarke was one of Britain's great Blues guitarists & a hugely underrated talent. His contribution to Motorhead was just immense. Missed by so many!
Fast Eddie was super underrated man. He's really an inspiration to me.. He had some good stuff in Fastaway too, and it's a shame he's pretty unheard of. I have respect for Phil Campbell too for continuing that era of motorhead with us.
The day he left was the day I kinda departed from Motorhead. Every gig when I bought ticket was on Fast Eddies side.........loved that man..........loved them all but Eddie was coolest.
No disrespect, I like Phil Campbell guitar style and playing, but he can't achieve that same sound and style that only Fast Eddie Clarke provided Motorhead. Eddie Clarke is the best guitarist Motorhead ever had and Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor their best drummer, with Lemmy they were the best and greatest version of Motorhead. I got to see them play way back in the 80's at the California Jam Festival.
I actually believe that Eddie was a better Mötorhead guitarist. I like Phil Campbell, but Eddie gave Mötorhead the unique guitar sound they had, and I believe it was more accurate for what Lemmy wanted to achieve with the band (it seems both Lemmy and Eddie were fond of blues). Phil gave Mötorhead a more metal sound... Ace of Spades sounded rougher, but it wasn't the same. I actually like both, but you end up missing the old stuff too.
I’ve always gotten a laugh out of the part at 0:50 when Eddie is introduced and he comes out like “let’s have a hug Lem” and Lemmy’s like “a handshake will do just fine thank you”...lol.
Right, but Phil doesn’t strike me as that kind of guy. He didn’t need to. After Wurzel left I’d kind of hoped they’d take Eddie back on board. Together Phil and Ed sounded big as proven here and Eddie was clearly enjoying himself. Don’t know if he would have coped with the Lemmy tour schedule tho. Eddie suffered one of the biggest regrets suffered in music history being kicked out.
Phil and Mickey are great in Motörhead but songs of this caliber need the Guitar of Fast Eddie and Philthy Animals drums. MK1 Line Up made the band what it was and for what it is famous to this day.
He was gonna leave eventually him and lemmy where getting in fights all the time and Eddie was quitting the band every other week or so until one day he actually did leave and lemmy replaced him within a week.
No match at all for the sound and feeling. I don't want to put him down, but Eddie and Phil defined the sound of Motörhead. Its ok to like the newer stuff :) But its not better than the first 3-4 albums, not even close! Hope you don't think that Brian Johnson is better than Bon Scott in AC/DC either? ;-)
Mark Evans? You mean DAVE Evans, right? If you are on about Dave, then I wouldn't even class him a part of AC/DC! He done a few pub gigs and recorded one single that went nowhere and was then booted out for being an absolute princess, Angus's own words...
reece callow i'm for sure he means Mark Evans who played Bass Guitar on the following albums: T.N.T, Dirty deeds done dirt cheap, Let there be rock, and some songs on the international High voltage album.
To this day I maintained that fast. Eddie wasn't the most technical or greatest guitar player of all time. But he probably has the best tone. He was a true master of understanding his own personal musical limits and making the absolute most out of that. Plus his 70s all wood and brass stratocaster was so damn cool.
All incarnations of Motorhead were great and Phil Campbell was the man and longest tenured guitarist, but there was just something special about Fast Eddie and his sound
I mean seriously!!! Phil Campbell should have sat this one out and let Eddie do his thing. The outro solo should have been EDDIE's.. I wanted to hear Eddie solo! "Come back of the year"???? It's more like the only comback that really matters! No disrepect to Phil Campbell and I feel sorry for him but he will always be a shadow. LEMMY, seriously, get Phil Taylor and EDDIE back and give us a REAL Motorhead album. Been a long time since Iron Fist. Again no disrespect to Wurzel and the boys, there was some real good shit there from 84-present but after Wurzel left it was never the same. I dunno, without Eddie it doesn't sound like Motorhead to me. Yeah I wasn't there, so what? I am still capable of making an objective decision by listening to Motorhead music and basically saying anything Eddie touched in Motorhead was pure GOLD. Period! There is a reason why Kilmister-Clarke-Taylor is reffered to as the golden line up! Cause it is!!!!!!
You posted a long time ago but I am so behind you in that. That was Fast Eddies moment who got run over basically by Campbell. Was not cool on his or Lemmy's books to do that.See my comment if you can Fast Eddie was always my fav forever.
Lemmy kept the band going with younger guys keeping him young in the meantime my favourite fast Eddie song is iron fist that was motorhead at their peak and they could play. Phil and Mickey deserve respect and lemmy always praised both of them saying they were better than philty and fast Eddie I'd say they are all great musicians
It doesn’t matter no matter how Lemmy constructed Motörhead it was always Motörhead I think humans over time were used to Ian Eddie Phil but I mean come on Ian Phil Mick was not f###ken bad either Hail all members past and present of Motörhead.
Lemmy Phil and Mikkey kicked fuckin ass too though, Inferno, Kiss of Death, The World Is Yours and Overnight Sensation are all among my all time favorites, killer albums
