Trunks's SSJ transformation when he realizes gohan died , is HANDS DOWN one of the best, if not THE best transformation in the entire franchise, that scream goes through marrow and bone

This is the best version with this background music. The small yellow pop up circle with the clicking sound just before he transforms was a nice touch. This has to be the best transformation in the whole series , there was so much emotion 😢.

I like that in the anime Trunks became a SSJ after Gohans death, it made better sense, in the manga he was training as a SSj with Base Gohan which was kind of anticlimactic , plus Gohan put a better fighr then in the manga.

We all overlooking the fact Gohan was fighting 13 yrs by himself against the androids like he literally was holding it down longer than anyone else

This one always gets to me, by FAR the saddest DBZ OAV.

Interesting thing about Saiyans is that the more near death encounters they experience in lieu of combat, the stronger they become. Gohan held his own with one arm. A couple of more battles, he would have absolutely been able to defeat the pair, especially if he hadn't lost the arm.

The Gohan we all know and love not the strongest, but number 1 in my book made the ultimate sacrifice very sad. They never showed Chi Chi I can only imagine how she felt losing her only son, but Future Gohan number 1 in my book. The fact that he was able to hold his own for such a long time against the androids we all know the Androids were holding back. However they were still struggling against him even with one arm Gohan gave them a run for their money. While all the other Z-Fighters were killed on the spot Vegeta was a Super Sayain killed him like nothing. Made the ultimate sacrifice Gohan knew he was going to die made Trunks into the man we love today. And one interesting I always thought at the end here 17 wanted finish trunks off but 18 stopped him and said I'll do it. And it was sad that 18 was a little bit weaker than 17 I always felt that if 17 delivered the final blow would Trunks had survived. But I think he would have survived either way determination to end the nightmare of the Androids.

In the manga its explained that 17 was using only half his power when Gohan died too.

Such a great movie i remember watching This along side Farther of Goku both are great.

future gohan easily is the most tortured character in all of db/dbz/dbs and its not even close the fact he had to watch every single person close to him die and basically have to fight the androids alone cause trunks is just a child and to go out like that 1 armed is tragic

I know that it’s no longer “The Prime Timeline” but it is the true one and yes it was dark but god the story telling was so good. Also showing how and why Trucks was so OP when he arrived back in time. All because he was just a young kid, fighting monsters far beyond Goku and his dad’s power. Surviving having to even get a sword but never able to properly train and focus. Trunks is my favorite bc he got that dawg mentality from Gohan and his loss of everything.

Being a Dragonball Z fan for so many years I never understood in this movie why Trunks, Gohan and Bulma never went back to Namek to find the Namekain dragon balls and wish everyone back lol. Why are they being so dramatic that Goku passed as if he never died before in the beginning? Bulma can invent a Time Machine but couldn't make a spaceship to travel to Namek and find Dende again?

So...this never gets explained in depth but they were human twins that Dr. Gero kidnapped. They're not so much robots as they are mechanically modified and reprogrammed cyborg humans. In the manga, they're actually called "artificial humans".

I find it hilarious how she says omg little Gohan is a super Saiyan! Lol! If she only knew. I can't wait for the later seasons. Oh a d correction they're not robots they're actually cyborgs, Human bodies with machine tech upgrades in them 16 and 19 are the only androids that are actually robots, not including the ones from the movie super android 13

I know its a completely one sided affair in the manga, (so much so that Gohan wasn't even important enough to kill on panel XD) but in this anime special, they totally made it seem like Gohan could 1v1 a cyborg twin. I guess that's more to pad out the run time. You need enough to fit a 45 minute movie, but you have a time limit. Still, I think its also mentioned in the manga that though Gohan thought by wearing his dad's old drip, he would be strong as he was, its not that easy... so he's essentially comparing himself to a Goku at most 6 months before the cyborgs show up, which I can't imagine isn't too much over his post-Yardrat self.

The silly thing about this movie is the future Trunks was more of a badass, than the past version of his self in Goku's timeline. I get there two different versions of the same character, but still I prefer the Future Trunks over the present one any day of the week.

Why not finish it

Dragon ball has sad and happy moments so it's good to get used to that, this film is one of my favorites, unfortunately Gohan had to die to develop Trunks' character, 17 and 18 are very strong characters too, they are also villains very different from the others .

"he's fighting both with just 1 arm" ... too bad neither of them were probably even using half their full power, in the manga 17 alone was more than enough to kill Gohan
