Oh my gosh, I can’t believe you guys decided to do a John Prine song! Nobody ever reacts to JP. This is a fantastic song, and he’s one of the best storytellers out there. Thanks for exposing more people to Prine! He was amazing to see live.

Been listening to John Prine for 35 yrs and had the pleasure of seeing him in concert on a couple occasions. If this is your first listen you haven't even scratched the surface of this legend,too many to even list.The man can literally make you laugh and cry in the same song .

John Prine RIP was a tremendous songwriter as well who wrote so many amazing songs. One of his most famous songs is "Speed of the Sound of Loneliness" featuring a lady you know called Nanci Griffith. Prine is widely regarded as one of the most influential songwriters of his generation. He has been referred to as "the Mark Twain of songwriting". Bob Dylan said that Prine was one of his favorite writers.

The incredible John Prine! He wrote and sang about REAL life always. So heartfelt and down to earth was he. He’s one of my favorites, and we miss him terribly. ❤️❤️❤️ He was inspired to write this song after hearing John Lennon’s ‘Across The Universe’.

He wrote that when he was about 20 around 1970. You have to listen to Sam Stone and hopefully some of his other great songs. Check out Michael Stipe with Billy Bragg and Natalie Merchant singing Hello in there. Glasgow year of culture 1990 - you tube.

This is definitely a recording of when he was older singing it. I think i know when it was. He wrote this song young and each time he sings it. It's something different with different feelings.

John Prine has a large body of work. Some of his songs are humerous, some thought provoking and some sad. He was a story teller of the highest caliber. We could all honor John's memory by saying 'hello' to some elderly person we see sitting alone.

He had just beaten cancer when this version came out (originally came out in 1971) and that added an extra melancholic layer to this performance. Favorite song from my favorite songwriter. Glad you guys enjoyed it.

Some of his songs are funny, i.e., ‘Let’s Talk Dirty In Hawaiian’ and others, but most are very deep, and touch on deep life issues, i.e., ‘Sam Stone’, ‘Speed Of The Sound Of Lonliness’, ‘In Spite Of Ourselves’. and ‘Long Monday’, just to name a few of his decades long career.
