In 2005 had a little 2 line ad in Metal Edge & Metal Maniacs and the 2 little old ladies who had the entire 2x5 space disappeared & I ended up getting grandfathered in on their deal taking it over for $150 a month. I made BANK on selling CD & Merch. I accidentally got a bill for Eddie Trunk & he was paying $5k for the same space. I rode that until the wheels fell off when they sold out to another publisher & they wanted $7500 a month. After 4 yrs I was glad it ended because I was burnt out running back & forth to the post office and dealing with my T-shirt printer. Good Times though overall. That zine had some legs & was distributed worldwide.
