I've got a pretty good feeling that this would be one of those tools that you would try and try to find a use for but end up throwing away

I did this once. The 3 layers of shingles were in such bad shape, but when I cut the roof into sections all the shingles came off easily and was very tidy. It was way faster too, even with all the time spent cutting up the sections. I also managed to fit 30 square of 3 ply plus another 20 square job into a 16 yard bin. The bin delivery guy could barley pick the dam thing up and mentioned that he was almost overweight, but he was impressed with the amount I could fit in there. It was the most he had ever seen.

Great way to smoke a blade or a dozen. Probably cheaper to just use a tear off tool. You still have to pull the nails. Good luck using this on anything steeper than a 4/12 or so. Any thoughts? Has anybody watching this actually used one, if so let me know what you think.

Its funny how some of these (master roofers) are saying they could tear off half a roof before you could even set this up. Haha. It takes 10 mins. Never seen half a tear off in 10 mins. Alot of these bone heads are the ones who can barely walk at 45 years old. Maybe its not faster or cheaper. I would bet its easier to pull up those neat pieces. I would sacrifice a little time to save the backs of a crew. Whats the point of working so hard if you can't enjoy retirement? I think it has it's place. Won't come out on every roof but it would be nice to have most of you guys setting up shop on the ground and 1 guy up there preping with this.

You missed the point anything round will roll of the roof, and magnets are used on the ground to pick up nail that have fallen after a tar-off or any construction, some things just don't work and a waste of money this is one of those thing, one two many brain storms

the only time we have ever had to cut 8'x3' sections out of a roof was on a high school gym with a 300 square roof, let me tell you, using a skilsaw with a demo blade was much quicker than a using a hook blade
@MalieusGaming
@MalieusGaming 9 лет назад
this is a gimmick item to make ppl who don't have experience with a pitch fork or hook blade SPEND MONEY. cutting your shingles into sections like that will in no way make them easier to tear off, just make nicer plies when done. And once you get the hang of a hook blade, you will never cut a shingle with anything else, much less spend money on a cutting devise.
