I don't care if people are saying it's a Glee-ripoff. (I personally don't think it will be). Friday Night Lights and Parenthood are 2 of my top 5 favorite shows of all time. I'm super excited to check it out!! Edit: Thank you MsMojo for the amazing video! I love that you guys are always keeping up with the latest trends. It's gotta be hard to keep making new content. Much appreciation. ❤️
I do theatre and while I was at a state competition they promoted this show. I am so excited because even though I am very blessed to go to a school with very active arts programs not many people have that option. This show is showing off what real high school theatre is not without exaggerating it. I just hope a show like this will help people realize that schools budgets shouldn't just go to sports but also to the arts which are so important.
I'm confused about how the Spring Awakening revival exists in the show, and one of the actors in the show is was in the revival as well... did no one notice how Jeremy's in the musical 😂
They could have said something not in the credits of the show? They could have mentioned the fact that someone who was on Broadway for Spring Awakening is on the the show.
the similarities to glee are sooo real. i found out about Rise because my dad saw the first episode of it and told me about it because he said it’s exactly like Glee. he can’t even sit through an episode of Glee, so he really knows
One of the actors is named Damion Gillespie and he's a dead ringer for Justin Guarini in the 1st season of American Idol. Skin tone, hair, voice, it makes you think he was cloned or something.
The producer of Friday Night Lights said something along the lines of he couldn't relate to a gay character and preferred him as a family man, but they'd explore LGBT stories with the students.
Elliott Gilbert Same here! It makes me so damn mad. Yeah when he can't write a story without changing major aspects of his character, he should pick an other one! And like a gay man can't be a family man as well..
Odd that you don’t mention that the theater teacher the book is about is a gay man. However in the show he’ll be a straight family man. Apparently some felt that no one would buy a gay man as the lead since everyone knows the gays hate theater. They must have decided that there are already so many tv shows that have inspirational gay men in the lead role that it’s finally time to do the unthinkable and make an unexpected & controversial move by telling the story of the straight family man... teaching theater to kids in a football town. It’s unfortunate when even in a retelling of a true story it’s in the eyes of Hollywood necessary to change the sexuality of someone so that it’s message can reach a larger audience. I’d argue that it’s not the wider audience that they are caring about but the advertisers and that the message they are giving by making the alteration says far more about the opinions and beliefs of those supporting the “straight-washing” of the lead roll than any message given in 10 seasons of a show. I’m truly disappointed Rosie Perez is apart of this show considering her views of Hollywood’s white-washing but I guess when it’s not your community being disrespected and devalued then your integrity is still intact as long as you’re doing it for a paycheck. The way this unseen show has been praised I wonder if this is a show you are genuinely excited for or if it’s because part of making sponsored content you just have to look for the positives.
@@slicksquids No. It got cancelled because not enough people watched it. Glee was different because it wasn't Musical Central. Glee had different genres of music, more diversity in the whole music thing. If you think about it, not a lot of people are into musicals so this was something most just assumed they wouldn't like. Not to mention there was a lot of controversy over the whole trans thing. And the fact that they did Spring Awakening might have threw some people off but beside that, the only reason was not enough people took to watching it.
