Wow! Dude... I love Nirvana... But Tim Mcllrath is one of the best singers of rock music these days... Not only the way he sings. His lyrics are awesome...
i was an RA fan and then not one and now stick to the Nirvana covers and im definitely one again----no one nailed Nirvana like this cover--justice well done
Same! I fucking talk about this video all the time when people bring up Rise Against. Also was the first time I really got into Nirvana. Funny how influential RU-vid has been to my music taste and knowledge.
im a big nirvana fan and i blame them for my punk influences now---granted im not a huge RA fan---but Tim did it right---its a cover--and the best Nirvana cover ive ever heard
@HugoNirvana P.S.S. that last part wasn't to you specifically, just to everyone in general hating on Rise fans for liking the cover XD don't take it the wrong way.
I hear everyone say this is the best nirvana cover. This is my least favorite cover Rise Against has ever done, that just shows how even there worst is the best :D!
I'll be damned. This is the best Nirvana song ever. And though this version isn't as good as the original (or Nirvana's live version), they KILL it! Only gripe I have would be with the instrumentation being to slick and polished. But that's really a minor quibble. In the end, I fucking love it
I normally get so freakin upset and nervous when bands cover nirvana, just because no one can ever do Kurt any justice.... But that all changed after I saw this.
To fans of both bands: stop the pointless holywar about who is best! Each band excels at what they do. Nirvana sang it as grunge, RA sang it as punk. Both versions are excellent, just don't forget that these bands work in a bit different genres.
well you are half right... of course The Stooges were a great influence for the origin of punk, and could be maybe one of the first punk bands, but the movement itself began mainly with Ramones and Sex Pistols...
@MrDgresendez What the hell are you talking about? tims voice is so powerful! Rise Against songs are extremely hard to sing, & Tim is a punk rock ledgend. Wayyyy better then Kurts version, thats my opinion.
@Dany123z you're completely wrong. you won't find anybody better than kurt to sing nirvana's music 'cause it can't be conceived separately... it's as simple as that.
Stop saying that this version and the voice of Tim is better than kurt's version, i'm huge fan of both band's, but don't say that this cover is more better than the original one!
For all those saying they don't play heavy music, sure. They're first three albums were heavier. Also: Tim can scream, and very well at that... Proof: w(w)w.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vWZyZAGyFbI.html
@AlexMakesThings a cover dosent have to be exactly like the original song, why would you think people whove been listening to and playing that kind of music for over a decade are wrong...
nirvana is enlightened music.. takes a lot of hard work to get there. Until we have another enlightened musician who best reports reality to us again.. kurt cobain will always be the safety net.. and a dam great one :D
nice try, but Kurt's voice is just much better ... but anyway ... thanx for remembering Kurt and Nirvana in your music :-) also the end of this song is well done, i mean the pleup pleup pleup pleeeuuup ;-D
I like how Tim kept his own voice when covering this song, most people who cover Nirvana try and put on this "Kurt Cobain voice" and it's fucking annoying. Be yourself when singing.
Well one, that's a box-set, and two, I've listened to most of the records on SCL, it's not punk at all, it's Metal, there were only a handful of songs that you can call "punk" but even that's an overstatement. Like, actually think for once.
the lead singer puts so much energy into singing which is werid cause just like kurt in real life hes always so laid back and quiet. im not saying tims the next kurt, yah voice wise yah i think hes is but personality i know they are not alike in any way
If it wasnt for bands covering nirvana shit, nirvana would be forgotten in 20 years. Thank Pop Culture for that. Awesome cover, NOTHING COMPARES TO ORIGINAL......duh
i know im getting hate for this but i think Nirvana is SOOOOO over rated. I am a fan of Nirvana, hell i own all their albums but honestly, people saying they're the greatest rock band of all time? Come on, that's ridiculous. I personally like Rise Against way more (going to see them live in August can't wait!). Nirvana has some great songs but they don't have anything I'd say is "WOW HOLY CRAP I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW GOOD THIS IS!!!". I mean look at all the teenagers (Me being 15) nowadays. The only song they know is "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and they walk around in Nirvana shirts because they think it'll make them look cool. Honestly would anyone remember Nirvana if they didn't make Teen Spirit? It's like the one song that keeps them relevant
SuperGamingGuy you must be a troll or really stupid. Nirvana has shat out more legendary singles than Rise Against could ever dream of, and I like Rise Against (see In Bloom, Heart Shaped Box, Sliver). If they're so overrated why are they being covered by Rise Against? You are so musically uneducated you seem to think it's a competition, as if its Rise Against vs Nirvana. Every band carries its own sound, and you should like them or dislike them for that sound, to compare a band to another that is completely different is like comparing apples to oranges, and disliking a band just because people bandwagon on it rather than listening for yourself and determining your own opinion says more about you than anything else. Do you think Rise Against just listens to Rise Against, or bands that sound like them? Open your ears, and your mind.
+SuperGamingGuy I actually agree.. They had a couple hits, but they're extremely over rated.. I'm so exhausted from working the past 12 hours or I'd get into more why I agree with you, but as of right now I just wanted to let you know you weren't alone.
+SuperGamingGuy Ok if you think Rise Against is better than Nirvana you're on enough heroin to make Kurt blush, and they have plenty of songs that keep them relevant. You're right that many Nirvana "fans" only listen to one song, but if you meet a true fan you'll realize we're not all like that. Hell I barely ever listen to Nevermind anymore.
