It takes a man to admit when you're wrong and to accept responsibility for it and the fact that all his friends stood by his side amd no one turned their back on him says everything you need to know about Bruce Mcnall
I still have my black and silver Kings jersey... Been 20+ years and I never wore it once. I have wore other Jerseys, plenty of them! But not that one... Its too special.
There is no doubt he helped the game grow to what it is today. I grew up with Bruce and the Kings during this time and I’m still a fan! We all make mistakes and he has served his time. Thanks Bruce!
i know Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost the login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Lachlan Damon i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
He will get in eventually, the buzz across the hockey world will never be as big as it was when Wayne went to L.A.! If that trade didnt happen there would be no expansion teams in the lower half of the US, California and in Vegas now. Sure Atlanta and now Arizona and Florida are never going to be San Jose or Nashville but there's no Auston Matthews if there's no Bruce McNall.
Vince Tookenay San Jose absolutely does get a team without Gretzky in LA. The California Seals only left because they failed to move to San Francisco and the North Stars threatened to move to San Jose years later but the NHL said no. The Gund brothers sold their stake in the North Stars and won the rights to an expansion team in the Bay Area that became the Sharks.
@@stanfordite Fair enough but nobody is going to watch San Jose play Jimmy Carson. While the Sharks may have been coming then it was the perfect storm no? Having Wayne in L.A. made hockey cool! :)
As a Bruce fan i don't think he should be in the hall of fame. But his legacy should always be remembered. Hate him or love him he personally did expand the league from 21 to 32. And you can't argue that.
I love the picture of the old Spago's restaurant. If you have the pleasure of eating at that restaurant today in Beverly Hills, that's what McNall did to the Kings and the NHL!
He definitely took a huge risk and even though it ended up not being good for him it did change hockey in the U.S forever. Had he not of did what he did things wouldn’t have changed down there. I believe he deserves being in the Hall of Fame. He did his time for the crime.
Michael Danks look at all the major sports, it was heading that way anyways. Would have been nice to have somebody lead the way that didn’t pussify the sport. But to be honest, all the sports have gone the way of taking the brute out of the sport.
Keep in mind that he is a hired gun and acts upon what ownership wants in the NHL...If the owners didn't like him and the advancement of the sport; he'd be gonzo. He is paid to be a punching bag just like Roger Godell.
this guy deserve to be in the HOF hands down! He's the one who made the Gretzky deal happen, and who was part of building hockey in the States... which led to many other franchise around the southern west area of the country. He is part of whom made hockey known at the same level as the other big leagues. Regardless of his financial crime, which is a personal one, it has nothing to do with his huge part of what he accomplished for the game of hockey. If idiots like Ovi could be part of the HOF because of being a single goal scorer, then you have no choice on putting someone who is responsible for someone like OVI to have success in America today.
You brought a lot of joy to people Bruce. You did a fantastic thing for hockey. you made a big difference in the hockey world. That makes you a good person Bruce and Bless you.
i saw Bruce Mc in Malibu getting off my moto I looked over & I immediately ran up to him & thanked him for the memories I thanked him twice & just said again " bruce thank you for saving the Kings for all the memories the gretzky deal is the greatest deal in sports history & even bigger than Babe Ruth's Yankees deal, THANK YOU!" PS. IT SHOULD BE TITLED the rise & fall & rise of BMc
Only one complaint he sold out, John Candy and sold Argo's. He should do something, Here in Canada NHL is our game started here and is ours. I think he should of make a new team here in Canada Quebec Nordiques.
Don’t forget the other schiester in the Gretzky deal pocklington was bleeding money and leveraged Wayne to balance out cash flow for a while. AB economy was brutal in the late 80s with the national energy program that screwed the west. I think if other owners had enquired Gretzky could have been traded anywhere if they put up over 15 million like Bruce did plus Gretzky wanted out due to his so called poor pay at the time of $850000. Pocklington is absolutely hated in Edmonton for many reasons not just trading Gretzky as per bruce in LA very opposite However it’s 2 different cultures as well conservative Alberta and good values vs Hollywood elites and libtards in LA TO GET POLITICAL LOL
When Phil Esposito was the GM of the Rangers, Gretzky was ALL BUT traded to New York in a deal that would have sent cash and a few players back to Edmonton. Esposito had the trade all worked out and went to the big-whigs at MSG inc to approve the deal. The MSG big-whigs said "we don't need Wayne Gretzky, we sellout every game." To which Esposito replied: "I'm not talking about selling out games, I'm talking about winning the Stanley Cup." Again, the MSG big-whigs replied: "Phil...we don't need Gretzky, our building is full every night." The frustrated Esposito would resign as GM of the Rangers and start the Tampa Bay Lightning not long after that episode. True story.
@@Chiefsfansince-qb1kt The traditional ownership model leads to this kind of thing. I wished we could have all the teams follow the GB Packers model (if they could.)
4:30 “everything went crazy overnight” that’s for sure. I will never forget being at work in a grocery on the 6:00 am news comes on the radio and the headline was, “Wayne Gretzky May be coming to the Kings” and I thought, “Yeah right, Gretzky will never come to the Kings”
Marty McSorley was a very good defenseman and tough guy! Sadly, when I think of him my first thought is how he possibly cost the Kings a third Cup with a foolish penalty when Kings were 40 seconds from a 2-0 lead against Montreal.
Inmate or not Bruce did wonders for the game. Too bad he didnt also get royalties for sharing the Kings territory along with the 25 mil. We label people so easily but Bruce created many millionaires and high paying jobs with his actions.
There's a psychopathic appearance to this guy that really bothers me. Someone who defrauds banks out of hundreds of millions of dollars to keep up a facade of success, while also putting him and his employees in jeopardy is abnormally irresponsible and reckless. He also seems like a dilettante and a charmer. He might have done important things for hockey at one time. But there's something about this guy's fundamental personality that just seems fundamentally off.
So the Great One was moved to LA and hockey was changed by a guy who never had any of his own money essentially. By 94 he was already defaulted on 90 million. The money to get Wayne never was his. That's America for you.
Should Bruce be in the Hall? Yes and no. As a Kings fan, I'd say an emphatic yes. For all the reasons stated. But also, no. At least not now. Perhaps at a later time. In a different climate. And maybe even perhaps posthumously. The current optics just won't allow it to happen. Are there owners in the Hall that did things as illegal as he did? Perhaps. But just like Bruce himself said, his actions were far more public. Ask yourself, what would the HoF be saying about itself, if it allowed Bruce McNall into the Hall, today?
I think the gradual deterioration of the NHL began here. The corporatization / big biz/ big contracts / glitzy fluff cheesy tacky showbiz factor started here. It's now a sport with too many watered down teams, with players who all look and move the same. Yawn. Going back to my Canada Cup '84 game now. Bye
Not true, if people dont know then thats the league's problem because its an entertainment industry and PEOPLE have to know so they can fill the seats ! Therefore the league had to reach out. Before Gretzky went to L.A hockey was a niche pleasure. Something to do if u had nothing to do. Its not like A Canadian city, the league didnt know how to market their game back then
Is Ty Cobb in MLB Hall of Fame? Bad guys have done big things. If voted to the Hall, we should remember the big things. He's acknowledged his crimes and paid the price.
@@jordansanchez3813 Hall of Famer who's been a sociopathic con man and criminal since he was 19 years old *LOL* same guy who said he was an Oxford Grad but records showed he never even attended there. Hall of famer who put the Kings into bankruptcy and the Toronto Argonauts took years to recover after he owned them (dopes get fooled by smiles and charm) - Hello dope
@@AlwaysHalloween000 get a life weirdo. Didn't realize you worked for 60 minutes. Sorry. He isn't a hall of famer. Take a deep breathe. Holy smokes. Bye
In a perfect world, Gretzky stays in Edmonton and never goes to LA. Then there are no Sun Belt or hot weather city teams in the NHL. Instead the only expansion teams or teams that relocate are San Jose, Colorado, Columbus, and Ottawa. That's right, the Sharks absolutely would exist without Gretzky in LA because plans for a downtown arena in San Jose for an NHL or NBA team were approved years before the trade and North Stars were blocked from moving to San Jose.
Doubt he will get into the Hallof Fame. They would have done it by now. His impact on the NHL should get him in, but because of what he did financially, it leaves a stain on his resume. Look at Pete Rose from baseball.. he's still waiting for an induction that may never come....
The Great One wouldn't let his jersey retired as a LA King until Mr. McNall could be in attendance. That speaks volumes. Sorry, he was the best thing that happened to hockey in the US.
@@llb4285 I as a life long Caps fan from NoVa saw that Phoenix (Glendale) place almost FILLED to capacity when they--before Ovi finally won it all--nearly sold out, contradict your comment
@@llb4285 My ticket was under $20. Like $18. I love that the NHL is fighting to stay out west. Way Out West. They fought the keep that Coyotes team here. It's great for East Coasters and Northerners like myself who relocated. Wishing success to the Seattle Kraken. The NHL is my favorite sport. Keep spreading the news!

i.e.? The abbreviation e.g.-short for the Latin phrase exempli gratia-means for example. It is different from i.e.-short for the Latin id est-which means that is, namely, or in other words. The two are sometimes mixed up, but other than being abbreviations of Latin phrases, they share no common ground. You're making a series on someone yet you cant use language properly? Weird.
