technically Tom, Zendaya, and Timothee are millennials, but they're the only ones from this generation who feel like movie stars. I have the most hope for Jenna Ortega. I also feel like her co-star on Stuck in the Middle Ariana Greenblaat will also be an A-lister, she's been in some good stuff and she just turned 17
@jimmyliuwho I would added Isabela Merced, Mika Abdalla,Presley Coley,Luna Blaise, Isabela Ferrer, Hunter Schafer, Sadie Sink, Cailee Spaeny,Isabella Sermon, Manuela Mora, Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Stanley, Lily Collias are Gen-Z actresses I put Florence Pugh, Timothee Chalamet, Yvette Monreal, Wyatt Russell, Glen Powell, Camila Mendes, Lindsey Morgan, Zendeya, Tom Holland, Olivia Luccardi on A-Listers. Jules LeBlanc and her sister Hayley LeBlanc have a potential. These days, they are focused their RU-vid videos. Maybe they will return to acting in the future. Ariana Greenblatt has been doing some great stuff in 2024. She will be A-Lister. She just turned 17 . Some of millennials who are in the late 20s ( Mary Mouser 28 , Amber Midthunder 27, Peyton List, Xolo Mariduena, Hailee Steinfeld, Peyton List, Manni L.Perez,Chloe Grace Moretz) they will be A-Listers in the future.
Id put Florence in A-List tbh and I’d add Cailee Spaeny on this list somewhere, she’s a really exciting new actress who I think will be huge, she was just in Alien Romulus and Priscilla.
I'm sorry, Ayo Edebiri does not have a "spark" but rather an Emmy, Golden globe, SAG award(among others) all for "THE BEAR" One of the best and most popular shows on TV right now! + she was in Bottoms and Theatre Camp, which are ONLY cult classics and adored by critics largely because she's simply too talented and hilarious to be on that tier, thank you! (Ooh and don't even get me started on Paul Mescal in "let 'em cook"😑...)
There is a really good article I read about why Gen Z movie stars are so impactful. Essentially, Boomer actors (Clooney, Streep, Pitt, Kidman, Cruise, Smith, etc.) Had unprecedented success in the 90s. Historically, movie stars have 10 years or less at the top of the box office with certain outliers (Bogart, Hepburn x2, DeNiro, Brando). So when older millennial moved in to claim their time, they were rebuffed by the Boomers who still had major star power and refused to be pushed aside and take "older" roles. In some cases, it is great because we got to see interesting stories from older women who traditionally "age out" after 35. The biggest millennial stars got sucked into years long superhero movie contracts, were part of the Apatow sex comedy gang, or played sidekicks to Boomer movie stars. So Hollywood movie stars skipped a generation
ermm if it helps some Gen Z are currently in their early 20s (Jenna Ortega is 21) and some Millennials are in their late 20s (Timothee Chalamet is 28). other than that, cool video, I am excited to see any big movie stars that come out of Gen Z, Jenna Ortega and Aiden Gallagher are my favorite so far
i'd put Florence Pugh & Jacob Elordi in A List for Sure, and then move Tom Holland to cusp because his projects outside of Spiderman have been flops. I have a feeling Walker Scobell is going to be super successful in the future.
I disagree. While Tom Holland's roles outside of Spiderman haven't been hugely successful, everyone knows who he is, making him a household name. My professor brought him up randomly in one of my Linguistics classes the other day to talk about how good his American accent is. Heck, my 60 year old parents know who he is, and my mom hates superhero movies. Florence Pugh is close to being a household name I think, but for the most part, only really young people have any clue who Jacob Elordi is (for now), so I definetly wouldn't say they've made it to A-list yet.
@@kellyzhou9971 she’s pretty popular from all the drama surrounding Don’t Worry Darling, her name was literally EVERYWHERE. Plus she was in Dune Part 2 and Little Women. You’d have to be living under a rock to have not at least seen her face. However, many people still don’t know her name.
@@kellyzhou9971 Exactly, which is why I agree with her being placed in the "on the cusp" section in this video. I'm not the one who said that she should be placed in the A-list category, that was the comment that I was responding too (that I, much like you, disagreed with.) Maybe you meant respond to that one instead of mine? I said I think she's close to being a household name (meaning A-list), because I think she could easily get to that place soon. But I agree with you, she's not there yet. However, I definitely think she's more popular than only being known by "film twitter circles."
One of the big difference in movies that I see nowadays is that there aren’t big movies centered around kids anymore. I feel like a couple decades ago, this was way more present. As far as healthy life choices, maybe this is a good thing, but it kind of makes movies a little less diverse. I really don’t know many young actors but my critique is more to do with the roles they play and the stuff they’re in. I tried Euphoria and I don’t get it. Almost every character feels unlikeable, but not in a good way like Goodfellas. Which is even a little strong. It’s more like in an annoying way where I say I would have never hung out with any of these people. This isn’t necessarily a new thing. Skins, UK version, was like this. They had a lot of unlikeable people but definitely were more nuanced. But the filming style for Euphoria seems to be romanticizing bad choices with little redemption. I haven’t seen it all so maybe it gets better, but it feels overhyped because there are a bunch of attractive people in it and they stick to the tropes that young people like. Zendeyas narration style is awful in my opinion. I just don’t think she has the voice to get across emotion. But scripts and filmmaking seem to be both glossier and more generic now. Like characters don’t really stand out with dialogue and most movies feel too clean. Even with a movie like Longlegs, people have been praising the tension building but spoilers the tension building is for no reason. There aren’t any jump scares or chase scenes or anything like that. So it feels very random. The set design in that movie was also atrocious and bare bones.
McKenna Grace is so criminally underated. She's been in A LOT of projects and her acting had always been 10/10 Also, Jenna Ortega, Zendaya, and Anya Taylor-Joy are literal Queens ❤
Idk, I feel like it's too soon to say they will be the future of cinema, as cinema in itself is dying. There are no cinema stars nowadays, just celebrities. Blame the social media. And I still feel like many of these actors and actresses have A LOT to show us still, it doesn't feel like they have been giving us their full potential. Idk if it's the scripts to blame or what. And some of them are millenials 😂
Really? Anya Taylor Joy and Florence Pugh are A list for sure. They’ve been working continuously for years and definitely have box office draw. You have an interesting perspective.
i think rachel should've been in cusp, i mean wss is pre-existing ip and thg has a huge fanbase, snow white will push her over the edge, and she has an a24 movie coming up
An actress that I would also definitely add to this tier list is Cailee Spaeny. She’s 26 and has been acting since 2018 with a couple really good movies on her resume, such as Bad Times at the El Royale, On the Basis of Sex, Priscilla, Civil War, and just a couple weeks ago, the recently released Alien: Romulus (which has the potential for her to be the lead in sequels if they happen). She’s also currently set to Star in third Knives Out movie, Wake Up Dead Man.
I would add actresses like Bailey Bass (21) and Avantika(19) in between spark and wildcard. I think they have potential as well and there definitely has been buzz some conversations around them. Maybe not as much as the other ones but I would say keep an eye out for them...💞🦋🌕💫
i argue that by your logic, jenna should already be on the A-list tier. yes, she's sort of pigeon-holed into the gothic type of character, but my goodness. She has range. Watch her in the fallout!! plus, she totally dominates the horror box office. scream 6 alone made around 170m in the box office, and yes, while it's not a lot compared to other films, its a HUGE ROI on her and the other castmates. Same for Scream 5 which made 139m and then X made 15m. All of the movies she's been a lead in or has a supporting role in have all made great returns on their investments, (at least 3x their budget) which means hollywood is definitely going to connect those dots and be willing to put her in more stuff. she's already proven she can handle it after the huge explosion of Wednesday. PS Sorry for the rant. im a huge horror fan and knew she was going places after seeing her in X
The fact that you put Tom Holland in the A-list category just because of Spiderman, and yet Anna Taylor Joy, who has had multiple lead movie roles in cusp is crazy. She is already an A-list actor and has been for years.
Zlennials would be those born in 95-96 as gen Z starts in 1997 Zendaya for ex turns 28 tomorrow a birth generation lasts roughly 15 years the same as two production gens of a car depending on the cycle for that particular car for ex the production gen for a Toyota Camry is roughly 6 years while for ex the average production gen for a Chevrolet Corvette is 9 years granted a base Corvette costs 70,000 while a base gas model Camry costs 29,535 never mind a ZL1 Corvette which starts at 180k never mind that flavor of Corvette has a twin turbo V8 that pumps out nearly 1100 HP and 830 Ft LB torque
