Finally, a sengoku era series. This is honestly one of my favorite eras as it's an era where guns, bows, swords, spears, and cavalry can be found in the battlefield. Especially how Nobunaga used the Matchlock infantry, If you probably dropped him during the Napoleonic era, he probably wouldn't be that surprised except the size of the battles.

@@epsilon3821 He did much more that tolerate them. He sided with Jesuit missionaries in a debate against Buddhist monks, and gave them prime land in his newly constructed city of Azuchi over his actual retainers for a Jesuit school/mission. He allowed them to preach and build churches. After his death Christians were persecuted because they no longer has his protection. Ieyasu was 100% a vasal. That's what it's called when a lord/king/daimyo/etc has other lords serving under them.

Japanese history is fascinating. Also, this is another example of why it's a bad idea to celebrate too early on a battlefield. Win the war, then celebrate. Great video.
@FShani

Well keep in mind that's how the Oda interpreted the Imagawa army's behavior after the battle, we generally believe they exaggerated heavily. The Imagawa still had numerous challenges ahead of them, many of which should have been more significant than the ramshackle Oda clan. Yoshimoto was a big stickler for showmanship, he was known to imitate Imperial court nobles and tbf Yoshimoto brought many positive changes to the Imagawa clan and the region as a whole. He believed maintaining traditions even for minor victories was paramount to maintain high moral and the prestige of their cause. Anyhow whether their celebrating and resting for the next big fight was really to blame for their downfall or not they were definitely caught off guard by the Oda. The big takeaway for me is never underestimate your enemy no matter how insignificant they may appear on paper.

The warrior monks were also one of the reason why the christians initially were welcomed. Buddist monks did politics and were a thorn in the side for the warlords. Nobunaga did not believe in the existence of God. He called himself the Sixth Heavenly slaughterer. Nobunaga says that there is no Creator of the universe, no immortality of the soul, no prize or punishment in the afterlife. If there were a God, I would kill him. He protected Buddhists if they followed him. He protected Christians because they could trade guns and other unique goods from missionaries. @@treeless_leaf , that's not a novel though That's a sentence used in Xianxia novels(the genre refers to stories in which people cultivate powers to become immortal, gaining advanced abilities like flying, walking on water and throwing power orbs)

Awesome video once again. I look forward to every K&G video that happens to even brush on my college topics. Spotted one tiny mistake though. The correct name of the Clan that Nobunaga laid siege to in Omi province is the "Rokkaku" Clan, not the "Rokaku" Clan. Keep up the good work :)

Wasn't the Three Kingdoms totally dumbed down and ventured into the RPG "special abilities"/arcade-y realm? I remember the shock when first comming to R2TW, from all the previous TW series (starting with the original Shogun: Total War in 2000), though luckily it had one great mod (DEI), who redeemed it for it. From what I saw on some YT materials, it seems like CA progressed into the "arcadization" of the series into the TW:Warhammer kind, no?
@sirguilhaume1964
@sirguilhaume1964 2 года назад
@@Haamre pretty much, from example archers don't have a range bonus from terrain, and in warhammer they streamline a lot of stuff, gunners don't have a reloading animation and range is king in that game, infantry is not that important like in the older games
