Imagine one of the characters awakening on an aquatic planet, injured and beaten, to find that they've been taken into the hut of an ancient amphibian. Leviathans and bigger fish swim around the little watery pod, harmless, even friendly, tamed by the mysterious occupant: Former Senator Jar Jar Binks, in self-exile for his part in giving the keys to power to Emperor Palpatine, a sadder gungan but wiser now, having outlived everything he once knew-perhaps even his people. Still a bit silly, of course, but now with the wisdom of years, he imparts what he can to the character-be it a Kylo Ren who's lost his way or a Rey or Finn who've lost their courage-and sends them on their way, and they take a moment to understand the costs of wallowing in the past.

And its had varying levels of canonicity as time went by, the last I recall the canon was that both of them tried to create life, failed, and the Force decided to create Anakin itself so he could kill the Sith. That theory/canon died however after Legends was closed down. Now we have Disney canon, in the comics Palpatine created Anakin via the Force. So Force Impregnation exists til this day, despite being a really, really weird idea.

The main point is that George had an idea of what to do while Disney/Lucasfilm had all the source material possible but had no plan for some reason.

Chewie is not a major character in the OT(a good character, certainly, just not major). ST Chewie is largely a downgrade yet somehow is better than the rest of the films. That's the worst part, actually. I think The Last Jedi almost had something to say. It was muddled, but it was going somewhere. This movie really could have sealed the deal. But instead, we got this dumpster fire.

I am at a point that I find that TLJ is the best out of the Trilogy....and I was a strong hater of that movie. Disney really gave 0 shits about Star wars and its legacy. Hopefully in the future, these movies will be forgotten and the only movies People will remember are the OT, PT and Star wars stories. We have come to the point that Michael Bay could be the Director and nothing would change.

They are already made, have better character arcs, a war against xenophobic and blood thirsty alien empire that uses bio technology, a literal lovecraftian monster and more. They did a fantastic job with Marvel Comics so why would any of them try to do start something out of scratch when instead you could just use an incredible amount of novels and data books with so much better story and characters that f#ck the sequels cannon so hard that I thaught it was hentai.

Tbf, the only original music it DID have was hauntingly beautiful imo. "The rise of Skywalker " gives me a feeling of nostalgia and evokes the feelings ROTJ gives me, And that music when Rey goes to tatooine is so sad, it would have worked wonderfully in something like the end of ROTS or AOTC It's just a shame it's the soundtrack to THIS movie, and used at times that does not feel earned. (Meanwhile the rest of the movie is a "greatest hits" track UHG) I cant believe this movie is the way John William's went out, when ROTS was perfection

I would go further and call it "The Palpatine Saga". The whole saga begins with the rise to power of palpatine and ends with his demise. He doesn't appear in all movies but everything happens according to his plan. Moreso, the skywalkers don't appear in some of the movies, like this one and the seventh, so why it's their saga? Because they're the good ones? Oh, come on.

Snoke was supposed to be the "Palpatine" in this new triology, but after his death they had to have a replacement, so they went with the most nostalgic choice which was Palps, so any plot hole or stupid thing surrounding this Palps thing is because of that

@@KeysAndDoorss IMO killing off Snoke the way they did was great, and solidified Kylo as the true antagonist of the trilogy, as he was always supposed to be. The overarching villain? No. But the primary antagonist? Yes. However, that wasn't JJ's vision which is why the ultimate problem with this trilogy is the fact that they played ping pong with the directing/writing duties between installments, which meant no consistency or through line to the narrative. If JJ had been given the whole trilogy, his vision may have made the entire trilogy a somewhat stale nostalgia trip, but it would have likely been a far less disjointed and rushed nostalgia trip. Then Johnson could have been given his own project to explore his unique vision to it's conclusion instead of being given the middle chapter of the mainline saga, resulting in a pretty compelling standalone story that ultimately doesn't fit within the narrative JJ had apparently intended.

​@@KeysAndDoorss They didn't *have* to do that at all. Hell, they could have even just ran with the whole "the Snoke that died was a clone" idea and bring him back that way. Would it be stupid? Yes, but it would still be Snoke. If he had some grand plan with Snoke, he could have easily focused the final movie on that with some handwaving of the Last Jedi. There's no reason to think that resurrecting Palpatine was a necessity. Personally, I think they should have just gone with what we all thought was gonna happen and make Kylo the central villain while building on his antagonistic relationship with Hux. I love the idea of Hux finally outsmarting Kylo somehow and seizing the Supreme Leader chair after two movies of being the First Order's butt-monkey. Maybe even have the First Order get split between the two and start fighting against each other. Play up the whole theme that a movement founded on evil and hatred ultimately undoes itself through its own self-destructive nature, which was always a core part of the Dark Side anyway. I don't know, just seems more interesting than "lol Emperor is back".

I can’t believe it either. It is definitely worse than episode 1 and 2, I’m dead serious, it’s so bad. This is easily the worst Star Wars movie for me. Also 5/10 wtf??? Maybe I’m too used to Marcus' score, but 5/10 should be the middle, what you consider an average film that you can watch and have a good time with but will probably be forgettable. This is not a film like that. This is an easy 2/10 for me. This movie made me hate star wars while watching it. But hey, movie critics change their opinions all the time anyway, it might be pretty likely that he has changed his opinion on this too (hopefully)
