@ruuzzzzactually, in arabic the ottoman empire we call it the ottoman state (because of respect to the nation and also saying that it wasnt an empire, but a caliphate), however i think in saudi arabia they call it empire.

So Java and Sumatra weren’t actually part of the Ottoman Empire . It was held by the Aceh Sultanate whom the ottomans basically guaranteed them to not be invaded by outsiders. However, when the Aceh Sultanate did fall in 1903, the Ottoman navy was not like it was before and couldn’t defend it. Also this map shows the Ottoman Empire at its largest extent. Otranto was held by Mehmet II for a brief year before it was retaken.
